Friend’s birthday.
Food is outstanding and the service is great, very attentive without being intrusive. We shared the calamari then both had the steak and frites. I don’t know how they cook the fries but they are so good. Steak was cooked perfectly. Then small chocolate mousse with a mango purée to finish, excellent end to the meal.

Vero Bistro is such a treat! A welcome departure from the overcrowded, cafeteria style craft beer restaurants popping up all over the place. Quiet and cozy, you can actually hear your dining partner while you enjoy the beyond exquisite food.

The service is excellent and the food a 10/10. 100% recommend and will be back.

The restaurant is in the middle price range, but it is absolutely worth it. Especially with their Wednesday 3 meal course that is really tasteful. And the staff is incredibly friendly. I would recommend it without thinking.

My wife and I went to celebrate a night out and we were not disappointed.

When we walked in Alex Kindly greeted us and showed us to our table. After some questions and hearing the specials we decided to start with the meatballs on a recommendation and they are INCREDIBLE. Seriously! Some of the best meatballs I have ever had.

For our meals we decided to share the Venetian Seafood Stew and the Traditional Agnolotti. I really wanted the seafood stew, but so did my wife, so we compromised and I got the Traditional Agnolotti.

The seafood stew was a beautiful balance between all the seafood flavour and the broth. The proteins of the fish, muscles, clams, calamari, and scallops were perfectly cooked and an absolute treat.

Traditional Agnolotti is a ravioli that was stuffed with veal and vegetables and slow cooked to perfection. I know my wife and I were supposed to share but I quietly ate as much as I could before sheepishly offering up the last couple for here to try.

I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and if you get a chance to sit with Alex, you are in for a special treat.

Overall a satisfactory dinner except for the server who rushed us out of the restaurant by insisting we pay the bill and gave us our coats even though we were not ready to leave . Overbooking their tables reflects poor management decisions!

We had their set menu for dinner which was steak and frites in truffle butter with arugula. The steak was sooooo tender and melt in your mouth that I refused to believe that it was steak. It was accompanied by veal ravioli and sage to start. The chef sent out very delicious meatballs in a marina which was a nice touch. Quite a bit of meat for the entire meal, however, everything was very good. We finished with chocolate mousse and mango purée for dessert. My peach purée drink was a bit on the breakfast beverage side which I don’t recommend with dinner a beverage recommendation would have been helpful. My own fault for trying something new when I didn’t want to drink alcohol. Service was great and I was impressed with the servers memory of the evenings menu.

We had the Big Taste menu with wine pairings. The food was excellent and the wine pairings were great! Service was super friendly and really good. The restaurant is fairly small, so reservations are recommended. It had potential to be a bit loud, but fun.

I consider Vero Bistro “my” neighbourhood restaurant. I have visited Vero many many times, this time at lunch where my friend and I enjoyed the Big Taste Menu. As usual, the food and the service did not disappoint! A shared appetizer platter included sugar pumpkin bruschetta, black truffle bruschetta, shrimp in vodka sauce and meatballs Bolognese. Each of the individual offerings was delicious in its own right, but the combination of tastes and textures was exquisite. Mike, Vero’s affable owner greets customers by name. Diane, our indefatigable wait person anticipated our every wish, including recalling the type of wine I drink. Short ribs, sweet potato gnocchi with a froth of Gorgonzola satisfied us greatly. The ice cream served for dessert was a “just right” ending to a sumptuous meal. Vero Bistro has “got it right”...,Chef Jenny in the kitchen, Mike in front of house, and Diane to tie it all up! My favourite neighbourhood restaurant; the BEST restaurant in Calgary!

Yet another fantastic meal. Managed to hit a Taste of Calgary event- five divine courses, fab service and the usual busy yet efficient and fun atmosphere. Only complaint- web said it was Steak Frites nite, and had been looking forward to that plate all day. Obviously meal was great but went in thinking one thing etc. Regardless- Always a treat to dine here. Keep up the great work!

I have been here many times and love Vero. However my last Sunday brunch there left me a bit disillusioned. I really hope the staff reads this as I will try to be constructive in my feedback. The food quality was excellent but the service was hurried and a bit on the neglectful side. The food arrived when I wasn't even at the table and sat there and was almost cold by the time I got it. Water glasses and coffee were not refilled for a long time. At the end if you use the debit machine there is an automatic minimum 18% too option which left me with a bitter taste. Tipping should be something you want to do not be forced to do. Ironically I typically tip more but to assume that everyone will find your service and food worth an 18% tip is a presumptuous and may be a contributor to the declining service quality? Vero, I really want to continue to love you but please don't let your service slide!

This is a fusion restaurant that is very foody forward and tasty. I would highly recommend it. Went for brunch with a friend on a weekend and had the Meatballs with eggs on top. It comes with a croissant and preserves, and since I am eating Keto, said I didn't need the croissant. They served it with a delicious side salad with beets and seeds. Very tasty indeed.

We had the caprese salad special to start and it was good but too expensive for $26 or 28 (?) for a salad. For next course, we had the gnocchi and the seafood stew. The gnocchi was really good but the seafood stew was only okay. For dessert we shared the passion creme brûlée and this was the highlight for me, it had amazing flavours. Overall, dinner was good but not quite up to par for the price.

We have eaten at Vero for brunch a couple of times, and it always exceeded expectations. We recently decided to try their no menu Tuesday, and each course was an absolute delight. The wine pairing was on point, and there was not a single aspect of the experience that I could fault.

This is the second time we've been to Vero Bistro and it was exceptional. The food was both interesting and tasted exquisite, and the service was top notch (thank you Alex). My wife is an excellent cook, so we are often disappointed when we go out to eat. Not so with Vero - they exceeding our expectations. We would highly recommend Vero to foodies with a taste for high quality food and superb service.

Really lovely food and attentive service. The only downside is that the venue is really small and the tables are really, really close together. I also always prefer when my winter coat (and everybody else’s!) is hung in a closet rather than slung over my chair. Multiple coats on the backs of chairs contributes to crowding and detracts from ambiance.

This has been our third time at Vero and it has yet to disappoint. We ordered the surf and turf for two and loved every bit of it. The food is delicious and the service was great. It is a small restaurant , but it is definitely a hidden gem. I would recommend making reservations.
