The staff were great and the food was perfect. The live musical duo was a nice touch as well.
Great atmosphere, excellent food and customer service, will definitely be back and recommend to others!
Mother’s Day brunch buffet cost was $50, almost double what a normal Sunday brunch would be. Unfortunately it wasn’t worth it. The chef tried to make everything too fancy (lemon ricotta pancakes, purple rice grits) but this “gourmet” buffet missed the mark. The plain pancakes on the hotel guest buffet were great, but they were taken away. There was an omelette station but no eggs benedict. There were peel & eat shrimp but no crab legs. The one free mimosa (moms only) was 90% orange juice. Come on, for $50 at least pour unlimited bubbly. Alban was an attentive and prompt server, and another pro was the crepe bar and the delicious tomahawk ribeye at the carving station. The electric keyboard soloist was just okay and took long breaks. A string quartet would have been nicer. Basically an expensive so-so experience. Will not return.
We went to Mother’s Day breakfast. Food was great but waiter never took our order assuming we all wanted the buffet. My wife didn’t want the buffet but the waiter never came back. Reluctantly my wife went up the buffet as her order was never taken. Thankfully they didn’t charge her for her meal and made it right. Just wish this didn’t happen on Mother’s Day. Service needs to be better, otherwise it’s a nice restaurant.
When I made the reservation I thought it was for brunch. Reservation was for 945 am and we were told as we were sitting down that Brunch was at 11 and we had the breakfast menu or buffet. The food was empty the whole time we were there! The little bit of eggs were cold, nothing was stocked and kept being told that more was coming out. We constantly had to ask Our service was terrible and our waitress was very verbal about how busy she was( and she was sweating profusely ) I had 3 kids with us, youngest being 10 and was charged as all adults. My bill was $173, of course 18% gratuity was added. So disappointed and it was my Mother’s Day treat to go out for brunch.
It was very peaceful and the food was fantastic. Staff was polite and knowledgeable.
This is the best brunch I've ever had, we were able to sit in a private room which was so peaceful. Our party still enjoyed all the activities available, great kids craft table & music. The food is always stellar so many choices and bottomless mimosas were an awesome deal! Highly recommend.
The waiter was AWFUL! I have never complained in this but he was terrible. Probably don’t go back. We didn’t even stay to eat.
Service was absolutely wonderful. Food was very good.
The distance of the Restrooms from the Restaurant was very discouraging & disappointing, as it was quite a long walk for someone that was not able to walk very well. The food @ the Buffet was very good & there appeared to be a good selection of food choices also. The music was a bit loud & the TV in the room that we were in was not able to show the Masters Golf Tournament, which really disappointed the golfers in our party - they ended up having to watch the tournament on their phones @ the table. I would probably not return to this Restaurant due to the distance & location of the Restrooms from the Restaurant area.
Excellent food and outstanding service!
Had a work group dinner here recently, party of 8. Excellent fresh food, great wine selection, and good variety of seafood and steaks. Highly recommend the grouper. It was delicious. This would be a great location for a date night as well. Great views and superb atmosphere.
Food is awesome! Service is great. Variety of menu is good but could use a few more entree items.
Would highly recommend!
We come every year for the players and luckily the last two years have had Lou as the server. They condensed their menu since last year but our steaks were fantastic! Thank you Lou and see you next year!
Excellent food & service
Super kid-friendly, delicious food, hot coffee and always full mimosa glasses. Server Albana was fabulous!
Beautiful dining room with views of the lagoon. Parking at the Marriott was valet and complimentary. Service was excellent as was the dinner. I enjoyed the large sea scallops prepared with a sweet potato hash. Very different presentation.
We enjoy eating at Vernon’s The food and service is always tops! The staff and the Chefs are super to make us feel welcome and encouraged to come back. Great for families. Kids area during brunch looks so fun ! We plan to do brunch on a Sunday in the near future and bring the grands. Chef Momma “T” is so nice !
We had a great belated Valentine's Day meal at Vernon's. It was a quiet night and we had great service and our meal was delicious. Would recommend!
So surprised that this busy property was better than expected. Valentine weekend but noise level was nearly non-existence. High ceilings, tables far apart and very good service. 4 guests all with different selection and all very happy. We’ll definitely be back. We live in the area and weren’t hotel guests, we just wanted to try something different. So glad we did.
Valentines Day dinner was excellent
Service was really slow. We waited 22 minutes before anyone ever came by to get our drink order. I had to go up and tell the lady at the front to get any service. The food was good though and I got a rose for valentines day. And they had little Roses in a glass on the table.
Had a wonderful Valentines dinner there. The piano player was fabulous and the service was very good. We especially enjoyed the dessert and truffles.
Great menu and service for Valentines Day
the side dish portion (lobster macand cheese) was toooo much. But delicious. Veal special was tsaty but not the best ever....what would I expect in a fish specialty place?
We ate here Saturday night as an impromptu stop on our way from Jacksonville to St. Augustine. It is in the Marriott, which is a very large conference hope. The restaurant has a lot of windows, but I'm not sure of the view (it was dark outside), but the ambiance as good - a little more open than I expected, so not really cozy. I had the braised octopus, which was delicious and my husband had the steak, which he liked. The octopus was some of the best I've ever had - tender, well seasoned and a good size for an appetizer portion. I also had the cauliflower, which was very good. Our waiter was the absolute best! He was professional, efficient and most of all, fun! He is originally from Tunisia and had a beautiful accent and a great sense of humor. We would recommend this restaurant highly because of our waiter and the food.
Cold environment, slow service on a not-so busy night. Food was served warm... not hot. The bread was great!
Pleasant surprise! Food was fabulous! Service was excellent - Mabrouk was awesome! Definitely going back!
I chose Vernons based on the reviews I have read, many of which seem to be on the plus side. Our party of 8 is a monthly dinner group and the reviews were sort of mixed. We began with drinks at the bar and during happy hour drinks with hosue brands are actually a good value. I ordered a drink with Tito's and my wife ordered a prosecco. The bill was $23 before tip! Others in the party ordered happy hour branda and paid around $10 for two drinks. The bar, at least during the time we were there, was understaffed and it took forever to get our orders in as the bartender was managing a table of 10 women along with another 10 at the bar. so service was rathger slow and he was not very attentive. Around 6:15pm he did get help and service improved.
The ambiance is quite nice. Comfortable seating a wonderful view by the windows which overlook a small lake and waterfalls. It was also quiet as the restaurant was not full. Our group eats earlier than most.
Most of the group enjoyed their meals. The filet, while a bit on the small side, (could they spare it?), was flavorful. Although if you're going to serve steak a 1/2 mile down the road from Ruth's Chris, you should at least be competitive on portion size. the Grouper (Tender and flakey) was enjoyed by two folks however a third thought it was overcooked and dry, there was more rice than anything else & the whole dish was rather bland. The special was a pan seared flounder and that person said the portion was actually too large to finish but the dish was quite tasty. Two of us had the frutti de Mare which include scallops, prawn and lobster. I have to say the seafood was had excellent flavor albeit bordered on slightly under-cooked. The seafood rested on a bed of bucatini in a cream sauce which was tasty but a bit too thick and heavy. The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Withe a party of 8, the service charges were included in the bill and they happily provided separate bills for each couple.
Our group of 8 was well attended to by "Kelly"... drinks were nicely prepared, food was tasty, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Will look forward to future dinners at Vernon's.
The food was INCREDIBLE, the quiet band was lovely, but the best part might have been the supervised Kids Area! They have an employee dedicated to helping kids complete a free project, plus kid-friendly versions of the same delicious adult foods, all within the same dining room. Awesome experience for everyone!!
This is the third time that we have been to Vernon’s Sunday Brunch. We really enjoyed the two previous experiences. Yesterday’s meal was outstanding!! Yesterday’s offering had a Mediterranean theme. Well rounded assortment. Not just quantity; but, excellent quality. We plan on being back!
I knew we were in trouble when we entered and there was nobody there except the waitress. She was good. We decided to share an apatiser and an entree. Appatiser was cold sourdough bread with some cheese spread and pickled tomatoes. We only ate a few bites and told them it wasn't good and they still charged us. The fish and chips were good and served hot. It is a standard hotel restaurant that tries to be good, but isn't.
New Years, we always enjoy this restaurant when we can. Breakfasts are our favorite .
Birthday for my wife. Great service. Wonderful staff great food. Music was a little loud for talking but would highly recommend
Had Christmas dinner with family. Food was very good, especially the shrimp, crab claws and carved ham. Lobster was decent.
I have seen a few reviews criticizing the service. I can say that our table of eight received exceptional service from multiple staff members. In fact, they enhanced our experience, and although a bit pricey ($65/person) they are one reason we will return.
The Sunday brunch was fantastic and our group
Of 8 was given our own private room!
We had enjoyed brunch at Vernon’s earlier this year. We don’t generally do buffets; too much food for us. This buffet doesn’t offer a huge amount of choices; but, most of the offerings are far better than average. Carved rack of lamb was a real surprise! It was delicious, as were the crab claws and fresh sautéed fish. We had looked forward to shrimp and grits, which we had really enjoyed last time. Unfortunately, the young lady manning the sauté pan for the shrimp must have been very new to her job and totally untrained in cooking seafood. We were quite disappointed.
Don’t save room for the desserts. They seem to be very much an afterthought. The fresh fruits were a much better ending for our meal.
We enjoyed a vocalist/musician who made it feel like we were on vacation. AND, the meal is a very good value; $25, including juice, coffee and/or tea. We do plan on going back again, when we think that we can hold that much food.
Very disappointed in the overall food quality and presentation. For a Thanksgiving buffet, the turkey was fine, but the roast beef was not. The side dishes were unimaginative and looked “picked over”. Desserts were non traditional and served finger food style. The highlight of the buffet was the stone crab and shrimp station. For the price, it did not live up to expectations.
Attended a Feast for Rabbits special event dinner. Food was great, service was wonderful.
