Need we say more?
Mother’s Day brunch was a disaster. We realize that restaurants are struggling to transition from the lockdown but to have a special occasion ruined by lack of organization is just wrong.
Very tasteful food selection. Nice ambiance and very nicely decorated. Wait staff slightly slow maybe because of pandemic they seemed short staffed. Libations of Mango Mint Mojito was Amazing. At times other parties seem to be having a very loud conversations. But I will go back in nite future.
This place was amazing - the food, the service, the atmosphere. Portions are moderate, but I felt that based on the quality, it was totally worth it. I'm definitely coming back soon!
Staff was extremely limited. Over a 45 minute wait to speak to a waiter after attempting to go to the bar multiple times and requesting one.
Service was amazing, wonderfully friendly, and smart. The food was excellent! The space felt a little cold and the acoustics were not great for conversation.
I want to be able to say the service was excellent, just to recognize the efforts of the one woman who appeared to shoulder all of the work. But it was slow and rushed. There were several other staff members (all male) who seemed to just drift around without doing much, while the solo female powerhouse worked front of house, mixed cocktails, took and delivered drink and food orders, and bussed tables. I'm really not exaggerating. It was just too much work for one person to handle. The food was very very good indeed. I would definitely return, but perhaps for takeout only.
Great food...shared paneer, artichoke, steak, hash and Naan. All excellent.
While our food was prepared well, it came out all at one time and we would have preferred a progression. We were also disappointed that two of the items on the menu that we ordered (mussels and potatoes) were not available. Our reservation was at 7:30 pm on a Saturday. This lack of inventory control on a menu printed that day is unacceptable. The menu isn’t large enough to have multiple dishes unavailable so early on a big night. Our server was working what seemed to be all of the tables and was racing around doing his very best and constantly apologizing for the waits. He was a good server - just stretched too thin. The cocktails were as dazzling as I remembered however. The food and concept are quite good. The experience needs some attention however, especially if you are going to upcharge with a Covid service tax.
Seated right away, staff was friendly, food was phenomenal! 10/10, can’t wait to come back!
I've passed this place a million times and never knew what a gem it was. WOW! From the moment we stepped inside we were greeted by a lovely host who was so kind to walk us through the menu and made spot on recommendations for my sensitive diet (due to allergies). She doubled as my mixologist and spiced up my Indian Mango Mint Mojito.
I never thought about Indian and Latin fusion but I do think it's my new favorite thing. Highly recommended, a must-do in Chicago if your stomach loves to explore amazing food and hand crafted libations.
One of the best restaurants in the city! The crab masala and skirt steak were absolutely off the map.
Food was average; very little Latin influence and mostly Indian food; poor service and dingy interiors
The dining space is very lovely. Open, airy and nice modern, but inviting decor. The food is very good with fun and interesting presentation (avoid the clams with the white sauce as they were awful). The problem with the restaurant is the service. There were not many guests so that couldn’t be the excuse for the evening. The waitress was barely passable for numerous reasons. For a dinner that averaged over $100 per person, I definitely expect more refined and attentive service.
Liked the appetizer and entrees the best. Went for my birthday with my fiancée.
Service made this place not recommendable
Food was delicious but services were poor in general. Communication with waited in general was very awkward overall. Check was handed over even before getting the desserts on the table. They need to seriously revamp the services.
Couldn’t make any menu items allergen friendly and delivered the bill with a 3% credit card fee while simultaneously saying no cash allowed...
Tiny portions, over priced, charges weird fees with zero explanation
Great service, amazing food, lovely ambiance
The service was terrible and the food was not worth the price they charge. They took 45 minutes to bring our drinks and when they did, they said one of the drinks we ordered couldn’t be made and
Definitely go back.
Charge a ton of fees with no explanation. They don’t allow cash but charge a credit card fee. Food is good but not worth the money
Went for restaurant week. very small portions for the table since its supposed to family style. we were a table of 3 and we saw they were giving us the same portion sizes as tables of 2. Also forcing everyone to get the same exact entree is unheard of. drinks were not included in the $55 / per person package. they also charged a credit card and a covid tax. with tax and tip and other charges, the total came out to be a $100 per person dinner and there is no way the dinner was worth that.
I was really looking forward to coming here and support a woman owned business. I’ve been following the social media and the menu looked amazing. We had a terrible experience and ended up not eating here. Our reservation was at 8:00. We were seated at 8:04 and were given waters as we sat down. It looked like they were severely understaffed as the entire restaurant was full but there was only one bartender and a bus boy in sight. There wasn’t even a server to flag down. After half an hour of waiting for anyone to take our order we decided to go. As we were getting up to leave, several of tables around us had only water on their tables and it was evident that people were looking around trying to get any of the staffs attention. We saw a server run out of the kitchen and to the bar. They said a friend sky goodbye as we were walking out. We left at 8:34 and made a 9PM reservation for Kinzie Chop House down the street. I was extremely disappointed. i understand that times are hard with covid, but this was restaurant week and they were packed. They should have been better staffed to handle the volume of people.
We went for Chicago restaurant week. Most restaurants who participate charge per person, and each person gets to choose their own meal. However here, we were charged per person, but only got one meal because the restaurant serves “family style.” There was not enough food for 2 people, so we had to order extra. We ended up paying $150 for a meal that didn’t even serve enough for us to have leftovers. Not worth it. The server was super polite and helpful, but very slow so we waited a long time.
Went for restaurant week and it was ridiculous that they were forcing people on the table to order same food for everyone. The point of restaurant week in Chicago it to explore and experience the food that the restaurant has to offer, they totally missed that point. The portion sizes were small and they were charging $55 per person for small portion sizes. It felt like a scam cause on their regular menu they used to have an option of $55/ person 3 course dinner where the diners can choose the food they want and don’t have to order same food for the entire table. But during restaurant week they forced everyone of the table to order same food essentially giving less portion and charging more money. It was legit scam and I feel sad they are implementing cost cutting at the expense of customers. I used to like this place, but now I am not sure.
And food was mediocre during restaurant week. Don’t go there.
Wow! The room is quite sparse but social distancing separation is perfect. The food and the service blew us away. The night we went was very quiet and we were shocked to hear that six people ran the restaurant so seamlessly. The menu was very original, the drinks superb and the food fantastic. Unless you order the most expensive options in each category, the fixed price menu isn't a value. We tried small and medium plates from the Latin and Indian sides of the menu and loved everything (Mussels, skirt steak were both outstanding).
While I was skeptical of the blending of Indian and Latin American cooking styles, we really enjoyed our meal and wish we'd been there with others to share more dishes. The decor is a bit sparse and I expect the room would be noisy with a crowd, but was very quiet while we were there. Service was friendly and attentive.
The cocktails were amazing and the food was delicious. Staff was so attentive and knowledgeable. They made great recommendations for us. I will definitely be returning.
We went for my friend’s birthday. The man who sat us at our table also was our server. He was dressed in jeans & a sweatshirt while the other servers had on all black. This person did not know what they were doing. We had to ask a few times for more water & people at at least 2 other tables that we seated after us got their food before us. We had to remind him about more drinks that we ordered. The food was alright, nothing wonderful. Our dishes were never cleared- they sat in front of us the whole time even when we were paying the bill. Our server never acknowledged my friend’s birthday, even though we mentioned it to him at the beginning. I got the strong feeling that they did not care at all whether we had a good dining experience or not. It was very disappointing.
Odd place. Felt like being in a high school cafeteria with hotel wall art. Server changed multiple times. One didn't know how to pronounce basmati, said she thought it was just rice. Our first server didn't know the difference between the chardonnay she brought me and the cabernet I ordered. It was a total shock to her that my red wine wasn't a white wine. We laughed and kept good spirits. I hope they get warm wood floors in there to make it more inviting and I'd suggest expanding the menu wine, beer, and bubbles options. Who doesn't have prosecco!? Food was phenomenal, especially the ribs. Best of luck to them!
The food and service are always great. I really miss the drink with the purple flower. I hope they bring it back. Lastly, I hope they bring the burger with Charizzo back. It was out of bounce. This is one of my best-kept secret restaurants in Chicago.
We have been doing Anniversary dinners for 23 years and this was the best experience we have has. Our waiters made us feel so great and jovial and that was important since we are in a pandemic and sometimes you don't feel as great. Kudos to the entire team!
I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and was a very bad dining experience. Service was split between multiple staff members who were not communicating to each other where we stood on our meal... drinks ran empty and we had to perk up and look around to get service... our appetizers were taken away and we were asked what we wanted for dessert... hadn’t even ordered main course yet. After over an hour and a half at the restaurant we had been served 2 rounds of drinks and 3 appetizers. When we flagged down a server to inquire about our entrees 20-30 min after ordering we were informed the ticket had been lost. We checked out immediately and left as we did not want to be there any longer sitting uncomfortably hoping to be waited on. The real bummer is the appetizers we had were actually really good and was really looking forward to other items on the menu. Lastly the birthday celebration was never acknowledged. Unfortunately it was a mess of an experience.
Wonderful food sadly nobody was there but food was wonderful!
My friend and I had a lovely evening sipping Vermillion’s pani puri margaritas and catching up on their outdoor sidewalk dining patio. The food was great and our waitress was very helpful in making recommendations. I would definitely point out it is true to it’s “fusion” designation. If you’re coming for traditional Indian or traditional Latin, this likely isn’t the place for you. But Vermillion’s pairing of the two flavors was perfect for us to have a fun girls evening, trying new things. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for something spicy and refreshing.
The food was fantastic! But we sat outside and that was less pleasant. The traffic was very loud and our table was approached by multiple people walking by.
The food was great and the service was as well. I can’t wait to return.
The worst resturant and most deceiving. The dish that we ordered was not served, instead plain meat was served. That too was left over. The bread was store bought, warmed in the oven. The desert was also store bought with lousy decor. The pakoras were not pakoras but something bought from a store and quick fried. There was no chef creation. Everything seemed to be bought and served. This restaurant need to shut down. The decor was lousy. Nothing like pictures. It’s a big bluff and fooling people with old pics. It’s seem like, no one is running it. The employees are trying to keep it open. If you are craving Indian food, go to Indian grocery rather than being fooled at very high price.
Wonderful service, nice outside dining, delicious and innovative food. Will definitely be back!
