We never made it to dinner, as we were so turned off by the ambience! For what this restaurant is charging for food and drinks, they really need to work on their surroundings. Decoration was cheap looking, lights were too bright, the furniture was cafeteria style, and the noise level was over the top loud and echoing throughout the place. Just a terrible place to be in when looking for a Good Friday night place to dine. Ended up going to RPM steak instead. Needs major make-over if they want any business!
I wouldn’t want anyone wasting their precious time or money wasted here, took out a friend for a diwali menu. The menu is mentioned on the website when you are reserving but sadly its not the same when they are served. Pani puri had such small amount of pani, never paid for green chatni.. the waiter told me if i need extra chatni(sauce) its $5…. Clearly he was annoyed when we asked for extra chatni, butter chicken had no rice or naan to go with. Thats just the bennning, i can write pages and pages of disappointment. Money wasted!!!!!! I was heart broken … got overly excited to see diwali menu and wasted my friend’s event.
Food was mediocre. Service was abysmal. We needed to ask for plates and silverware. We had to almost shout at the waiter to get his attention in a not very busy restaurant. Went there a couple of years ago and it was great. No more.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Vermilion. It had a nice ambience. The food was very good and the waiter was very nice and helpful in recommending things for us to try.
Our dinner was absolutely amazing! All the food had such interesting, spectacular flavors, our cocktails were uniquely delicious, and Alex took such great care of us! We will definitely be back.
The menu options, while limited, were very interesting. We had a crispy kale appetizer which was amazing.
The butter chicken is fire.
The food was fantastic, it was a great infusion, some of the best curry I have had.
Food was mediocre. Had to send the paneer back as it was too salty. Lamb chops didn’t have flavor. Had to sprinkle chaat masala to eat it! Same thing with cauliflower ka and. Tamarind paneer was good.
We really enjoyed everything we had to eat and drink here. However, I don’t think it was completely worth the price. That’s my only complaint. Everything else was outstanding
Stopped in this evening due to a friends recommendation, service was a bit slow, but so far everywhere is nowadays days, but the food is definitely worth it. Some of the best butter chicken in the city. I enjoyed the openness of the floor and the music was really nice. Overall I recommend this place.

Sitting outside, the sidewalk area was extraordinarily noisy, but what was worse was that the seating was next door to a cigar shop where - can't blame them - its patrons were smoking cigars outdoors the entire time we were eating. Food was unusual but ultimately just so-so, and surprisingly heavy on meat for a restaurant with Indian influences. Our server was attentive but the kitchen seemed slow to produce our orders despite there being only a few tables with diners outdoors and another few indoors. (Since it was our choice to sit outside, we also checked out the indoor seating, which seemed extremely harsh and unpleasantly lit.)
Glad to be back after a long Covid lockdown absence. The food was even better than I remembered! The Blackened Tamarind Ribs are my absolute favorite. Sat outside which was a bit noisier than I’d like, but couldn’t pass up the weather, and it did make for some good people watching.
Service was so so poor. Food was below average. Over priced as well.

We were embarrassed to suggest to friends that we should all go there. We completely understand that restaurants are having a terrible time of it now, and I’m not angry. But the entire experience was just low-grade and poor. It must be that they are unconcerned about their long-term reputation and only concerned about making it day to day. Service was slow and, much more important, just uninterested in us. Food came out incorrect, slowly, and piecemeal (and not just that apps came out first, etc.). Really too bad.
The service was really really slow and the food tasted very bland. The restaurant itself was a little hot and the ambiance was disappointing. Definitely not worth it for the price point.

We got there at 8:15 and left at 10 because they kept forgetting or giving our order to the next table.
Wow. I have to say that was one of the worst experiences ever. I know everyone has labor shortages due to Covid so I was trying to be supportive but this was by far the worst experience. We booked outdoor dining but they decided to close the patio at managers discretion. We waited for 30 minutes before we got a server to come and ask us for drinks. The drinks came after the appetizers and the cocktail was not good at all. I asked for no sugar but they definitely added sugar. The lobster and chicken were delicious as was the naan. The paneer masala tasted like Campbell’s soup and was disappointing. The server forgot all of our dishes and so we asked the manager to wait on us and he did. He did give us a free dessert to make up for it but it was a three hour dinner. I would not recommend this place! It’s too bad bc I want to support local, Indian, and female as I’m all of those but this restaurant needs to get its act together!
Date night for my husband and I. There was absolutely nothing negative I can say about Vermillion. The atmosphere, the staff, the ambience and I have to EMPHASIZE, every option we choose on the menu was so freaking amazing. You can’t go wrong. It’s a delight in every bite. Must I add the cocktail menu…oh my gosh!!!! The Best. And saving the best for last, PACHECO made our first experience the most wonderful ever! Give that man a raise!!! We are definitely returning!

The food is amazing! We are a family of four and let our waiter pick the best items from the tasting menu! Ate every bite and even doubled ordered the garlic naan!
About as bad an experience you can have. Food mediocre. Service was beyond terrible even though there was just a few tables outside and no one seated at all inside.
Food was wonderful, but the cocktails were really where Vermilion shined for me and my friend who went here for a birthday dinner the other night. Small plates were served beautifully as were the medium plates. The garlic naan was some of the best I've ever had.
My friend ordered the LSD cocktail, which i would have been jealous of had i not also ordered the wonderful Mango Mint Mojito--both of which were stunningly crafted and artfully mixed.
My only gripe is that the air conditioning was definitely not working in the restaurant and it was obscenely hot--a late august night in chicago! This was clearly outside of the restaurant's control, but some acknowledgement or better handling of the situation would have been nice. However, it was worth it for the food--i would eat here again with working air conditioning. i hope they fix it soon.
great food great service great drinks. soup was as spicy as advertised, very good.
Service started out very, very good, but eroded over the meal. Our excellent waiter seems to have been wrapping up and leaving — for which we have no complaint. But team handoff didn’t happen. Flavors were delicious and presentations fun. Reduced variety in menu relative to past reduced our score. We look forward to expanded variety when the world supply chain and table density can return to more normalcy.
The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. We had the crisp kale, pani puri chaat, and the butter chicken and all of it was amazing.
We sat outside and the outdoor seating is in front of the restaurant along the street, so there is *some* street noise. But it was still quiet enough to have a conversation and enjoy the ambiance.
The service awesome so was the food. Loved the butter chicken and the ribs. Only thing that didn’t make sense to me was that why to have a candle on the table when the restaurant is very bright.

Had a nice time here, a little quiet but it was nice, got to catch up with my long time friend. Great food and good drinks. Wish they had a better wine selection though.
Good service,food is really good. Limited menu but whatever we had was really delicious. Achari chicken, butter chicken, skirt steak and the ribs r a must try. Will surely be back for more.
This place is simply amazing! The food is awesome, the music, and the wine selection. I normally don’t eat dessert, but you have to try it! We were very pleased!
Who knew Indian and Latin food would fuse so fabulously?!? Add to it fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable service, super cool decor, and this was a vegan foodie’s delight!! Many items on menu are already vegan or can be made vegan, our waiter Dominic was very vegan fluent and charming, the drinks were perfect compliments to the spice profiles, and the chef Rahul even made us an unforgettably yummy dessert! We will be back often.
Normally, I prefer to go on a date in a calm and quiet place and Vermilion was not just that bad. The food is 5/5!!! Since the 2 people table was small; servers need to pay more attention to small tables. I recommend the cucumber tequila cocktail is a must try with cilantro
Every dishes were delicious, drinks menu was very nice and fresh .. the restaurant is too bright.. but then we come here for foods not light .. highly recommended..
