Verjus Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Verjus continues to serve food at a higher level. We went on an" Italian Bistro" night. On these nights your choices are limited to 3or 4 appetizers , dinners, and desserts. It does not seem to matter. You can pick any and not be disappointed. My dinner of Berkshire pork tenderloin literally melted in my mouth. My wife had a steak which was equally as good. We will be back.
We decided to give Verjus a try based on its mostly positive reviews and the fact that it has appeared on NJ Monthly’s list of the 25 best restaurants in the state for a few years now. Our experience was extremely positive and the food and service were top notch. The wine list was quite reasonable and there was nothing to suggest that Verjus doesn’t deserve its lofty reputation!
A totally delicious creatively prepared dinner. Every item on the menu is superb!!!!
Excellent cocktails are a great way to begin and a wonderful wine list enhances what ever you decide to have for dinner: fish/seafood, beef and of course Charlies roast duck.
AND-nobody in the area makes duck like Charlie. All other items, both appetizers and main course and desserts are oh so good!
It's often hard to choose from the tasty selection of appetizers, main course items AND deserts.
We've been here for birthdays, anniversaries, mother's days, valentine's day and other special occasions, as well as our recent visit for no other reason than to enjoy a superb meal.
We look forward to returning soon.
Coming to Verjus is always special. Our party of 4 ordered the beef bourguignon and the filet of sole which we all agreed was very tasty. The service was excellent, and we had ample time to savor the meal and enjoy good conversation. Jane is an excellent hostess.
Definitely would recommend to others. Good value for a classy meal!
Verjus is an intimate French-inspired restaurant with a varied and creative menu. Once or twice a month on Sunday evenings they have "dinner and a movie" with a prix fixe menu and a classic movie -- this week it was The Lady Vanishes. The mushroom bisque and crab cakes were excellent. Even though there were some technical difficulties, the staff made it a wonderful evening.
Another great meal with friends. Everythng was excellent, and the staff truly outstanding. The young lady who served us was super efficient and most pleasant. I had eaten here before, so the food was still as delicious. Loved my crab cake appetizer, and my duck for main course. Had to split a dessert as I was so full. Will visit again!
The ambiance is excellent for a relaxed gracious meal. The food from appetizers to dessert while not extensive menu, does not have a bad choice on that menu. The wine list is modest and you can get wine by the glass. I recommend this place without any reservations. Just make sure you have a reservation before going.
Lovely restaurant, nice ambience. The service was good but they wanted to rush us a bit, once we indicated that we wanted a leisurely meal it was fine. The food was excellent, but the menu is very limited, so if there is nothing to your liking, you might have a problem. I had to order soup and an appetizer for my dinner. I would still recommend this restaurant, but keep the above limitations in mind.
Another totally exceptional dinner.
Delicious, creative foods and deserts, and tasty cocktails, as well a a nice selection of wines assure that you'll always be satisfied.
This is why we've been dining here for many years.
The only "problem"is in deciding which of the delicious items to enjoy!!!
The recent accolades about Verjus being of the best places to dine in NJ are wvell deserved
I and my family have eaten at Verjus on the chance of the movement many times , reservation of course, and each an every time the meals were superb, the drinks & wine very well prepared, and a certain amount of patience is required because the food is cooked to order. The wait is worth it I'm hesitant to write too good of a review because too many people will find it and we wouldn't be able to get in later .
What a wonderful way to relax at the end of the day.....dinner at Verjus is gourmet food in a quiet, simple setting. You can actually HEAR your companions and enjoy conversation over delicious food with warm service. Classic dishes are served, many not found easily elsewhere. I loved the experience and recommend it thoroughly.
I'd been meaning to try this place for years. We went on an August Thursday night and the place was pretty dead, which worried me, but the food was terrific and since there was a very light crowd, the woman who owns Verjus (Jane) came by and talked with us for what felt like nearly ten minutes. That might not be everyone's thing but I loved it. From what we ordered I recall the crabcake appetizer, crispy Pekin Duck and hanger steak as standouts. Also the scotch/whisky collection is nearly perfect.
Ambience is very quiet. There's a lot of room between tables so it's very comfortable.
We were in this French restaurant before. Many menu items did not change, and we were fortunate to find some of the dished we had liked very much the last time. The escargots are unbeatable, as is the garlic mashed potatoes as a side for the steaks. Good selection of wines by the glass, and even larger selection of wine in the bottles (leaning toward France, as one would expect).
