Veritas Steak & Seafood
The Rios Family
I had a business meeting here yesterday and there was a long hair stuck on one of the knives!
This restaurant has a very good wine list, however the waiter did not seem to have good wine knowledge. There was no sommelier to assist with wine selection. The food was very good as I had a filet mignon cooked just the way I like. My wife enjoyed the mixed grill platter of filet, duck, and lamb. We ended up drinking a bottle of Faust cabernet only because the waiter said it was a popular selection. The wine was delicious with the meal. We skipped desert and went to the bar area where Alejandra provided excellent bar service. The piano player provided a great relaxing ambience. My wife and I have visited this restaurant a couple of times and we are already planning our next bar visit.
We always have a wonderful experience when we go to Veritas. The food is delicious and it has a beautiful atmosphere.
All was wonderful. Attentive service and a great off the menu meal (salmon).
I marked birthday when I made the reservation. The server didn’t mentioned the birthday. We did ordered dessert. No candle or happy birthday written on the dessert.
Great service, food, and extremely nice atmosphere.
It's a little overpriced but okay. I ordered a regular salad and it cost almost $10. Based on what you got I thought that was too much.
Very disappointed after reading excellent reviews about the service and food at the Veritas Sugarland location. Our waiter approached us like he was having a bad day rather than the greeting one would expect at a nice restaurant - I don't really blame waitstaff at Red Lobster or Roadhouse for having an attitude, they are underpaid and overworked. But waiters at upscale venues and usually tipped well and are responsible for fewer tables, so bad attitudes are harder for me to accept. I tried being pleasant and friendly despite the scowl on the man's face - maybe he just didn't like how happy we were to be out on a Wednesday night. Anyway, we ordered bacon wrapped scallops and a nice salad for appetizers and both were disappointing. the scallops smelled so fishy I barely touched them - my wife couldn't stand them and asked for the unhappy waiter to remove them from our table. He never bothered to ask if there was anything wrong with them (since 3 1/2 out of 4 were uneaten). My wife's salad was supposed to chocked full of goodies she enjoys - like candied pecans, fruit and other things I don't believe go well in a salad, but the salad was just wilted lettuce with honey mustard dressing instead of a strawberry vinaigrette.
While I was waiting for our food and talking talking to my wife, another waiter walked behind my chair with a full tray and smacked me in the side of the head with his elbow. I thought I had been struck with a ball ping hammer and said a bad word pretty loud as I grabbed the side of my head and took cover to avoid another blow to my noggin. Kidding aside, it really hurt for a few minutes, but was basically dismissed as the waiter continued on to his destination and an obligatory "Oh, sorry sir". I was disappointed that neither he nor the manager came over to sincerely apologize or show any remorse for the battery. I know it was an accident... or was it?
Anyway, I will never know because even though the seabass was very good, I won't be back.
Great place for a business lunch with clients. The food is wonderful. The service is outstanding. The servers are very unobtrusive and professional. Highly recommended!
Although, the food was excellent I had given notice on my reservation of my allergies and these were not taken into account.
Was thoroughly disappointed with the service and food. Wait staff was very slow and none engaging. Not a single one ever made eye contact. Finished my drink and they never asked if we wanted another. Finished dinner, never offered dessert. Oh and after ordering cocktails before dinner, guy grabbed all the wine glasses. I prefer a glass or red wine with steak. Wedge salad was bland and lacked flavor; and had to ask for salt and pepper to be brought to table. Steaks were average at best but overpriced as if were high quality. This place is off my list of restaurants. Suggest you try Perry’s instead where we usually go.
This was our first time there and the food was phenomenal. We were celebrating our anniversary and they surprised us with a complementary anniversary dessert after our meal. We're definitely going back again.
Enjoy celebrating my anniversary there.
I think Veritas has gone downhill a bit. While the service was great, the presentation of the food on a the plate seemed almost amateurish.
The quality of the food, while acceptable, did not seem to be as I remembered from a year ago and certainly relative to the price. I only gave it three stars for value because of this.
They did provide us a free dessert as we were celebrating our anniversary, so they are thinking of their guests. I just wish it met the same standards as before. Perhaps I hit an off night......
For a Saturday night there was no wait for a table. We were seated immediately. The food was good. The service was average to above average. We would probably return again.
We had a wonderful dinner at Veritas. Our server was excellent and everyone in our party enjoyed the meal and live music. We will return.
Great atmosphere and the food and service was 5 stars will highly recommend and will be back
Overall, Food was good. Lunch service took almost 2 hours from being seated to paying the check. Our server took leftovers for me, my wife and two kids and put them into two to-go containers, instead of keeping them separate.
Not as expensive as going someplace like Perry's, but also not the same service or quality of food.
Took my wife and daughter for mother’s day. Bloody Mary tasted like it was from a can. So did the shrimp in the bisque. I wished my 4yo daughter’s spaghetti was from a can then she could have eaten it. Sauce was probably the same as the Bloody Mary mix. Wife’s ravioli was overcooked. Lamb lollipops weren’t bad but not that great at $19 for 3 bites.
The view is nice outside and the service was good but for $120 brunch I expect the food to be good too.
Veritas was delicious! The calamari and ahi tuna stack were both delicious starters! The mixed grill entree and filets were delicious. Brussels sprouts and fries amazing!
Slow service, mediocre food. Shrimp cocktail was warm.
Had a wonderful blessed anniversary dinner. Food, service and wine was great. My date was incredible
The place seems well managed and the food was somewhat creative for a Steakhouse. Looking forward to next visit. A gem..
The food was good. The service was terrible.
This restaurant do not come when you are in a hurry. Come relax and enjoy, we have been multi times and continue to enjoy
We wanted a juicy, tasty steak for our anniversary dinner. It was neither.
excellent place, great food nice location
lunch and dinner
Good food but honey Dijon was more like a vinaigrette than the usual creamy dressing
A bit pricey
Service was poor and slow despite few tables filled... had to ask for bread when others already had there’s.... requested extra plates of olive oil dip but never received them.. not very attentive.
food was good ,my wine was great but the glass hes leapstick stain in it,but still love the food and the service.
Risotto was excellent, all the steaks were perfection. Dinner was enjoyed by all.
Excellent food and service at Veritas! I ordered the Salmon medium and it was cooked perfectly for me! They didn't have the wine we wanted so they gave us a pricier bottle for the same price. Will definitely return!
Business lunch with client. Excellent food, great service, timing was excellent and the noise level perfect. We will be back. Thanks
Nice place, great service and live piano.
We will come back.
The setting is very pretty. The restaurant is nicely appointed. The menu is pricey. The Tomato Caprese Salad consisted of four slices of pale, tasteless tomatoes, tiny slivers of basil, a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and olive oil and four small round slices of salty mozzarella. The grilled salmon was very tasty on a bed of spinach with garlic. The service was polite, attentive and friendly.
Food was excellent and we look forward to returning.
Visiting with friends
We are four friends who had a wonderful evening together for three hours! It was quiet and the food was delicious and the service was great!
As usual, it was wonderful - great good and exceptional service.
Not a very good experience, unprofessional staff, food was late and not too great. Ended up paying steakhouse prices for below average food and service. Churassco's next door is much better for the same prices!
