Veritas Steak & Seafood
The Rios Family
We selected this restaurant for our 2020 post Valentines Day celebration. Upon arrival, the hostess was MIA for at least 5 minutes. Once she arrived, she asked if we had a reservation. I replied "yes" and proceeded to give her my name. Without even reviewing my reservation request for a specific table by the window on her computer, she took us to a random table in the middle of the restaurant. When we brought the table request to her attention and pointed out the "reserved" table by the window, she said that the table was "reserved" and walked away leaving us standing in the middle of the restaurant while she went back to the front to check her computer. After waiting there for a few minutes a casually dressed gentleman whom I'm assuming was the restaurant manager, came over and seated us at the "reserved" table by the window. Once we where seated the service was a little slow but good. The food and wine was also good. This experience marked my second visit a Veritas Steak & Seafood. However, it was a first experience for my husband. I'm not sure if he will ever visit again.
Just horrible...waited forever to even be seated, even with no one there. Took forever for waiter to arrive (he was nice though). 6 items on menu total. when I asked what happened to the menu I was told they were closing permanently that night.... Can't say I don't understand why. Steak was flat raw with burnt char lines, it was purple inside. Just all in all sad experience
We were disappointed in the abbreviated menu. It detracted from the overall experience and left us feeling that we could have been better at another restaraunt.
Food was great. Restaurant did not seem to honor the reservation. Once we arrived we had to wait in line like everyone else.
I chose Veritas because Perry’s has a set menu for Valentine’s Day and Veritas said they did not. Upon seating I was given a limited set menu, contrary to my expectations. The quality of the steak was a step below Saltgrass and for $49 I was extremely disappointed. The steak was accompanied by a tablespoon of mashed potatoes. They made bank and I made a mistake going there, I will not ever return. Service was below par, very slow and forgot us a few times.
We went to Veritas for Valentine's day. Even though we had a reservation, there was quite a long wait in a long line and much chaos waiting to be seated. The menu was extremely limited. No Lamb entrees and only one chicken entrée. Plus all the entrees came with broccoli. I hate broccoli! The only option to broccoli was to take a double portion of mashed potatoes; so I took the mashed potatoes.
The waiter forgot to bring my wife's soup, even after he brought my salad. When we were finally able to get his attention, he apologized for forgetting the soup.
The grilled shrimp entrée we both ordered had a slight taste of burned electrical wiring; so it must have been cooked on some kind of electric device other than a gas grill.
Given the prices at Veritas, my take is that this restaurant will not still be in business next Valentine's day.
One of my favorites Great lunch specials and a great selection of wine
Sad the restaurant is closing
Their Chilean sea bass special dish is salty. Crab cake is a good side. Cream brûlée’s & chocolate cake are decent. Atmosphere is nice. The staffs are friendly although some can’t understand or speak English. They’re trying to be helpful but a little rough like reaching across your face to clear out dishes, and drop the plates quickly and walk away real fast. And you have to look for them. Staffs need to train more for a restaurant claimed to be upscale.
Geat food, great service. great atmosphere.
As usual, outstanding service with fantastic food!
Great food! Singer/piano was nice, but had to ask them to lower volume.
The restaurant is in a strip center type location, which can be misleading about the quality. When we arrive the host told us that it would be a 30 minute wait, even with a reservation. We explained our frustrations and they politely found us a table. Our waiter was great and the found was delicious. The tables and booth are densely packed, which means you’re constantly hearing other people’s conversations. I would go back not on Saturday though.
We had a 6 PM. The noise level was great then but got a bit noisy by 7. The pianist was great. The service was impeccable. The escargot was great as was Mario's Trio, Veritas Salad and creme brulee and strawberry cheesecake. The lobster Ravioli had a nice sauce, but the meat was minced, instead of the chunks I prefer. The only drinks we had were hot tea and water and therefore the bill with tips was a bit pricey at ~ $170 for 2. It was worth it,
We were a group of seven who dine weekly at the local restaurants in turn. Veritas is a little expensive but used to be one of our favorite places but now we probably will not visit quite so often. It seemed a quiet night and while the waiter was friendly, service was slow and the piano loud. We had entrees only and wine and split the check, with each couple paying ~$144 ea. after the 18% gratuity was added. The food was good but not that exceptional.
Food is good. Service is responsive and friendly. Compared to other similar restaurants (Perry’s, Del Frisco’s, Vic & Anthony’s), I find the pricing a bit high. Speaking of this experience only, there were only a couple other patrons, and it was rather loud. I also noticed that the carpet and some of the booths appeared “run down” and needing replacement. We will likely not go there again.
Food was as ordered. Service was a little slow, but it was New Years Eve.
It was new years eve and the restaurant was way under staffed. We had a reservation but had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Service took forever, it wasn't our waiters fault he just had way to much to cover. Food was just okay, steaks were under cooked but was not going to send them back and wait another 30 minutes. Really disappointed new to town and the restaurant is close to me.
The service was slower thanexpected
Our first time dining there. We were very impressed with the quiet ambiance and our kind, attentive waiter ! The corn cream brûlée was yummy and our filet was tender and flavorful! We look forward to going back !!
We went for dinner on New Year’s Eve. The restaurant as quite busy and seemed understaffed. We were seated without menus and didn’t have salt/pepper on the table. The waiter didn’t seem to notice that we didn’t have menus, until I requested them. We’ve dined there before, with no issues. I think it was just the holiday...
Everything about this restaurant feels cheap - from the silly plates, plain food presentation, and poor service. The fact this restaurant competes with other local restaurants in similar price points like Perry’s makes me wonder how this restaurant remains open. This is probably why the restaurant was mostly empty on a Saturday evening.
Food looked and tasted amazing. We had the six course Omakase with paired wines and it was great. The service, however, was rushed and not very personable which negatively impacted the experience.
We would definitely recommend Veritas to friends. The atmosphere is great and if the weather is nice, you can sit outside on the lake. We've been there twice now and the service, food and ambiance were all consistent and good. The food is very good but the recipes are more a traditional cuisine. We both had meals leaning towards the Italian cuisine.
Nice ambiance. Great food. Overpriced. Front counter exceptional! Waiter awesome. Bus boy rude.
Tried Veritas for a pre-concert dinner in Sugar Land, TX. We were very please with our dinner and service. Although Veritas is a long drive for us, we will be back.
They don’t respect your reserved table. We arrived a few minutes early to our 12:15pm lunch reservation for 6. The hostess informs us that a server just sat our table and that there was no more room because they are booked. Well thats the point of the reservation, we said to her. She offered 6 seats in a row up against the bar, this was unacceptable, we were there for a nice lunch with our coworkers to treat the management team. A manager and the hostess came up with putting another table next to a booth in the bar area so we had 3 people sitting at the booth and 3 others on chairs. Our food took a long time, they came to tell us they were out of mashed potatoes, 2 people in our party ordered the 3 course meal so the server boxed up the desserts without us requesting that and brought them to the table without offering any desserts to anyone else and was ready to give us the check. First of all, some in our group wanted coffee and desserts, secondly, the boxed up desserts were to be enjoyed at the restaurant so my boss was eating his out of the styrofoam container. This server wanted us out. Whoever he was, he has no business in the customer service field. Luckily when we ordered coffee and desserts another kind server took over at the end and we never saw the other one. He is very lucky that the gratuity was included in the bill. All in all, we will not go back to Veritas. We should have walked right over to Churrascos as we originally wanted to when they were trying to figure out where to seat us. Go to Churrascos instead, it is where we will have our next managers lunch from now on.
Everything was wonderful!
Thanksgiving meal was fabulous! Everything was extra delicious-turkey, ham, chicken, fresh veggies, creme brûlée corn, fantastic stuffing, sweet potatoes, desserts...and the always welcoming staff made the meal memorable 🍽
Saw an ad on-line for Veritas, so decided to treat my husband to dinner. Finding this restaurant was like finding gold! Beautiful decor, this place is elegant and subdued in every way. The food was magnificent, the waiter excellent. Even though it is a bit of a drive for us, we’ve put this restaurant near the top of our “favorites” list for future dining.
Outstanding service Requested location was perfect for our business meeting. Very reasonable wine prices and good quality. Will go again for sure
We were at our table for 15 min and no one waited on us. I flagged down a waiter and asked if we could get some service. He came back with water and left. We left after that. No one asked why we were leaving.
I just love this restaurant. Great customer service and amazing food!
Birthday for family member with elderly among our group. Background piano overpowered conversation-it may have been our location. Everything else was fine for an enjoyable evening
Our 49th wedding anniversary! It was special. Thanks to Veritas and staff. Great job!
As we have come to expect the service and food quality was outstanding. The only issue we had was with the volume of the piano player. As we were seated, the volume was much too loud. We could hardly hear each other at the table. Our waiter spoke with the musician and the volume was lowered to a reasonable level. Overall another wonderful experience at Veritas.
Food was great, our waiter was very nice, but the service was a bit slow considering there were only several occupied tables in our section including the outside patio. The ambience was good with background music or live band played instrumental jazz, but not so great with the band's singer.
This was our first time here and I have to say, it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had! The piano player was such a nice touch. He even played Happy Birthday for my 5 year old daughter!
The food was excellent and only to be outdone by the staff! Highly recommend!!
Surprisingly elegant dining experience with friends
I had a business meeting here yesterday and there was a long hair stuck on one of the knives!
