Verandah at Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort Ratings and Reviews
The Verandah was amazing in terms of ambience, food and service. We had the crab and cheese encrusted Grouper and the grilled red snapper with persimmons, chard and other veggies. Both were amazing as was the wine list and the appetizers. We had oysters with horseradish and cocktail saice and specially sauteed meatballs.
We live on the plantation and have visited veranda many times. The food has slowly deteriorated. There were six of us dining, and we all agreed that both the food and service were horrendous! Even the check had to be redone three times because of mistakes in the charges. What a disappointment! We will not return.
Wonderful overall dining experience. Only complaint was that the hostess seated a party of 3 and their dog (not a seeing eye dog) at the table next to us. I would have thought they would ask if we had any objections, before seating this group, particularly since there were many open tables at the time where they could have been seated without inconveniencing any diners.
We were ignored, chastised for arriving 8 minutes early for our reservation.
Haydar the server was non-attentitive, food was fair at best, fish was served dry and chewy.
Sat us right behind a table with children who threw food on the floor so they needed to clean the area while we were eating dinner, when most of the tables were empty in the entire restaurant.
In my opinion, Verandah is the best restaurant at the Omni Amelia Island Resort! Service was fanstatic (Allison was our server), food was delicious (breads, shrimp cocktail, bbq shrimp, mushroom soup, seafood carbonara, crab encrusted grouper plate, key lime pie - all wonderful!), prices were appropriate for the food and service provided, and ambiance was upscale yet not pretentious. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Amelia Island.
The food was amazing! From the amuse bouche to the to honey buttered pop corn it was quite an experience. Our server, Allison, was very attentive and helpful with her dinning suggestions. We had oyster bisque and the crab coated grouper. We've never tasted better!!
Great food , not much atmosphere was recommended by trip advisor went for Thanksgiving dinner not realizing pre fix dinner. Had to walk 100 yards through the rain because
Entrance was blocked by post s which was told residents require for limited access. It worked - was soaked however excellent food made up for it , service was good, surroundings boring and dated as is typical of a resort restaurant - still, food was excellent .
They did not have our reservation when we arrived and could not find it even after we showed it on our phone - which they did not what to look at. They said we must have made it at another restaurant as that happens all the time. While at dinner we received a message that the reservation had been cancelled by the restaurant and when trying to show the hostess this when leaving she didn't want to look at it and said she did not know what was going on. Guess it's an easy way for them to not give points for dining. They don't have to worry about us ever going back.
Food was fantastic- Service even better - the GM was there- working tables and making sure guests were satisfied.
They gave us a free shrimp cocktail because we causally mentioned we had a bad lunch at another resort restrauant (long wait- terrible hot dog)
Don’t miss this place if you are on the island!
Food was exceptional & server was great. Just one strange thing.....We arrived 15-20 mins early for our reservation and the hostess who greeted us told us that our reservation was seating closer to our reservation time & asked that we go to the bar to wait. No biggie.....She also told us to close our tab there so we'd be ready to go to our table when ready....a strange request...,,We walked to the bar, ordered 2 drinks....and literally as soon as we ordered she called us to our table. It was 1 minute at most. Felt like they were trying to get us to order at the bar before getting to our table...dinner was fabulous but the whole hostess bar thing felt wrong
We were 10 minutes early and the hostess was cold. She told us to take a seat, our table wasn't ready. We went into the bar, before the drinks were made she shouted our name. She had to have watched us sit at the bar....there wasn't any reason to shout for us. The bar is about 15 feet from the hostess stand. They made me pay for the drinks, wouldn't add them to the dinner bill. When they seated us, the dinning room was almost empty......so how could our table have not have been ready? I had the fillet and grilled shrimp which was very good. Janet had crab cakes...they were dry. The waitress was very good.
So basically it is an ok restaurant with a bad hostess.
Couldn’t have asked for a better dinning experience. My picky son didn’t like one of the dishes he ordered and with zero hesitation, they brought him out something else. The entire staff went above and beyond our expectations, making this a very memorable dinner. Will absolutely be back next vacation.
Reservations for 7:15pm , arrived on time greeted warmly advising there would be a 10-15 minute wait - no problem.
Wait staff was spread thin, we were advised that they had quite a few customers without reservations so busier than expected.
We had trouble with the crab cakes being over seared, but the waitress addressed the issue right away and corrected the situation.
Our waitress was very hospitable and made our dinner more enjoyable.
We did not care for the seasoning on the chicken, but that was personal preference as the chicken was well prepared.
