A friend had been here a couple of years ago and has been raving about the grouper ever since. Five of seven in our party ordered it and it was amazing. Oysters were fresh and the surprise popcorn ending was a unique treat.
Great service. LOVED the sample soup cup and the nitrogen popcorn!!! We want one night and immediately signed up for the next night as well. Highly recommend it!
Very good food and excellent service. The grouper was as others have described and the deviled eggs were superb.
delicious food with good choices. Friendly atmosphere with attentive servers. Good portions
Consistently great food & service. They make fantastic cocktails too. We love the ambiance of this place. It's comfortable & classy. Marianne was our waitress & she's fabulous. She's very attentive, friendly & knowledgeable.
The crab encrusted Grouper lives up to the hype. The rest is good but made more special by the, not one, but TWO amuse-bouche brought to us. We started with a complimentary white asparagus soup (which I was considering ordering but decided on something else) which was delicious, and then before dessert we were treated to 'frozen popcorn' - complete with all the drama of a dry ice presentation. The Mud Pie for dessert was amazing. All in all a very nice experience.
Great night all around.
Food was below par. Fish was not fresh tasting and steak wasn’t edible.
Kitchen was very slow. They had some big groups and it took an hour between appetizers and dinner.
Excellent dinner; service impeccable; overall wonderful dinner
The Verandah is an upscale restaurant at the Omni Property. Located on A1A, our first impression was not great because we had a reservation, and the two hostesses seemed to be having major problems with the computer system. They each apologized a few times. It was not a big deal.
The reviews talked about the sample soup that is given to you for a taste, and the corn muffins and scones with the different butters and honey. Both were very good, so we were anticipating an excellent meal. WRONG!!!
My wife ordered the Filet and Crab Cake, and I ordered the Filet and Grouper. In the reviews, the Grouper was talked about many times as the "Best Grouper Ever". It could possibly have been a great Grouper, but when our food was served, other than the Seasonal Vegetable, no food was hot. Most was not even warm. And the restaurant was not very crowded.
My Grouper had a good taste, but eating Grouper that is not Hot or even Warm, left a lot to be desired. Our Steak, Cold. My wife's Crab Cake, Luke Warm. Mashed Potatoes, Cold. We paid over $100 for two cold meals. The steaks, even if they were served Hot, had very little taste. I've had much better steaks at a Longhorn or Outback!!!
One might question why we did not send the meals back? We should have, but my wife worked in several fine dining restaurants when she was young, and she learned that you don't know what happens to your food if you send it back. So we never send the food back. We muddle through the meal and never go back.
I don't normally write bad reviews, but I felt that when we left, our bill was almost $200.00, and it was one of the worse fine dining meals we have ever had.
The Steak, seriously, had very little taste. And was Cold. The Grouper, could have been good, but was very Cold. Unsatisfactory, in our book, and we eat out a lot at fine dining restaurants. Read about the great reviews on Yelp. Will not rely on Yelp in the near future.
Verandah is one of our "go to" restaurant choices. My husband LOVES the seafood carbonara and I almost always order the signature grouper. All were excellent!!!
The atmosphere was a real downer for me. We spent almost $300 with tip and walked away with a less than stellar experience. While the food was good, I would not go back. Prices were high for what we got. It just didn’t feel like a special place.
We had the worst service. Our waitress was rude and never came back to our table to refill water or get us another drink ever. She is ignored us most of the meal until she gave the bill to use
We have been coming here for 9 years. Always great, but felt a little less quality than in the past. We arrived early for our reservation on purpose to have a drink and the hostess seemed frustrated with us that we didn’t want to be seated early. Food was good but has been better in the past. I think it’s bc omni has taken over. Service has gone down on the island since they took over.
A must if you are staying at the Omni. Fun dinner, albeit pricey but worth it. Enjoyed very much with our 14 and 15 year olds.
Food and service were outstanding. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Enjoyed our dinner, excellent service and good food.
We have a 3 year old, and it was my husband’s birthday. They made both my husband and daughter feel special, and we all had a delicious meal and a lovely time.
Lots of special touched.
Would like more vegetarian options and / or pasta. But everything we had was very good. Prices were high.
Fabulous atmosphere, scrumptious meal. Favorite of the whole trip
The food was delicious! The hostesses seemed a little overwhelmed... and our server a bit absent minded. Overall, we had a nice evening out.
No one could understand what the server was saying! He did comment when he brought me the bill that a tip was not included with the total, WHAT!
$15.00 for a Tito’s on the rocks you got to be kidding, lousy poor on top.
Parking a tremendous problem, couldn’t get close, blockades were present.
Don’t waste your money stay away!
I would drive 8 hours just to eat there. At the coast, you expect good seafood. They deliver in spades.
Everything was delicious and service was right on, looking forward to our next visit.
Wonderful evening. Tessa, our server, made an early impression with her bubbly enthusiasm and sense of humor. She was never too busy to make sure that our needs were met despite a managing several large parties at other tables with the same skill and enthusiasm. Salads were fresh, crisp, and tasty. Our entrees (seafood carbonara and grouper) were served timely, were nicely presented, and tasted great! Shared Mud Pie for dessert was sinfully rich and satisfying. Would definitely recommend and will return.
Always a favorite! Enjoyed seafood carbonara and local blackened shrimp.
Try the verandah sampler appetizer and blue crap crusted grouper entree. You won’t be disappointed!
Overall an excellent experience here. Wonderful service and food and nice decor.
Fantastic meal, as well as service, both occasions we had to dine there. The filet and crab cake was the highlight of my dining experiences for the week. Highly recommend!
Wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the signature touches were great!
Food and presentation was excellent. Service was also great. Very happy we tried this restaurant!
GREAT FOOD. GREAT SERVICE.
Will go again when visiting
Great grouper & swordfish.
Food and service were excellent. We stayed at the Omni so picked it since it was on location. It is at the tennis center but the shuttle was available and worked well. The grouper special was very good and they were flexible to substitute okra for the potatoes. The service was very good.
Steak and lobster were soooo super tender and juicy and flavorful. Delicious! Very very nice restaurant to enjoy food and ambiance.
Enjoyed it. Waiter was exceptionally attentive and anticipatory so we were well cared for!
Our server, Tessa, was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. We were a large group and she handled our separate checks expertly. Great service, good food, lovely atmosphere.
We love dining at The Verandah. The food is consistently excellent and the atmosphere is fun. The service, thanks to Tessa, was exceptional! We will definitely return and bring more guests to enjoy this great venue.
