The kitchen missed our entree—and it came very late. The staff were very apologetic and commped our wine. Food worth the wait!

I came for dinner with my daughter while staying at the Omni property last week. We had a reservation at 7 on a Thursday evening and were seated promptly. Overall, we had a fantastic dinner at Verandah. There was a consistent waiter and assistant that helped us all evening and the service was excellent all around. One slight downer was being seated facing a large party including 5 kids who were coming from their tennis lesson, seated at the end of the table away from their parents and behaving like kids would be at Chili's. Not quite the right vibe for a restaurant trying to promote an upscale, fine dining atmosphere. That said, we could have asked to move and didn't, so I can't blame the staff.

We started with sparkling water and a "citrus menu" of a variety of fruits to add to the water (nice touch). I had a terrific martini, made just how I asked for it. My daughter had the butternut squash soup and I started with the beet salad. Both get rave reviews. I tasted her soup, it was something special. For dinner, I had the carbonara dish, and they were very accommodating when I asked for it to be made without shrimp, as I have an allergy. My daughter had the grouper encrusted with crab. Both dishes were fabulous, unexpected but wonderful flavors together. We also ordered a side of the Brussels sprouts, which were terrific...roasted flavorfully (maybe a bit of bacon in there? Or just spices?), but not overdone. I was expecting Verandah to be on par with the in-hotel restaurants at the Omni... fine, but "hotel food." I was so wrong and we had a memorable last dinner of our week on Amelia Island.

The food and ambiance were divine and Michael was probably the best server we have encountered on the island. A must.

The food was really good and the service outstanding. We loved the frozen popcorn and they went all out to make mummy husband feel special for his birthday. I would recommend this restaurant.

This was our 2nd trip to Verandah in three days. This visit was the result of our not wanting to leave the resort; but, still wanting seafood for dinner.

We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were seated immediately by the hostess. There might have been one or two other tables occupied at the time. The hostess advised us who our waiter would be and left the menus. We waited a bit and eventually, the server’s assistant arrived to fill the water glasses. We then waited for about 10-15 minutes and a party of four was seated near us. Within 1-2 minutes the server’s assistant and the waiter arrived at the other table. When we heard him introduce himself as the waiter we were expecting we assumed that he would be advising them he would be right back after attending to us. Not the case.

We continued to wait as he covered the menu items with the other party, took their drink orders, then vanquished and returned with their drinks. While he was fetching their drinks the restaurant GM came over to the party’s table and introduced himself and made small talk. When the waiter returned the GM walked off without stopping by any of the other tables.

Only after the other table received their drink order did we finally meet our waiter. The food was good; although, nothing particularly outstanding. Neither the GM nor any other manager came by our table on this visit.

I have been going to The Verandah for over 20 years. We have watched it go thru changes and have been happy every time. Although, the one thing I would love to see come back is the Verandah Salad.

Food was good small portions. Table service was great very polite and knowledgeable wait staff. Hostess was loud and a little snooty. Paid $62.00 each for a set menu price for dinner without drinks was sat at a table right in the main hall of the restaurant by the entrance to a storage closet.
