Verandah at Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort
Verandah exceeded expectations, which had been set quite high. From the moment we saw the table, to the food, the ambiance, the service, everything was exceptional. It was by far our best dining experience of the vacation.
Portion were small given thecost
Dining at the Verandah is always a pleasant experience. From the pre-dinner cocktails to the dessert, each phase of the meal is well-done.
Great place! We went for a four course menu and it was just perfect. The food was tasty , the service was impeccable, and our favorite part was the timing of courses. When we were finished with one course, our next was on its way shortly after (within 3 mins) rather than a lot of places that will keep you waiting a little longer. Those with littles at home will understand how important your time alone and how it is spent, is! They did not keep us waiting, I believe we had all four courses within an hour. For us and our expectations, it was perfect (:
The service is outstanding as well as the food. A glass of red wine, Silverado Cab, was very good but we were not told the price of a glass. Had we known it was $17 a glass, we might have chosen another one less expensive. Perhaps we are equally to blame for not asking. The noise level, although less intense than other restaurants, was, nevertheless, distracting. I had trouble hearing other members of our party because the table next to us was very loud. If I were to design a restaurant, all seating would be high padded booths in order to minimize the noise level. If I pay almost $100 per person, I want only the best.
It was Valentines and they only had a Valentines menu to order from. The food was good but definitely overpriced. I understand it’s Valentines and all but...even my wife couldn’t believe how much it was. Still enjoyed ourselves.
The Valentine’s Day menu was varied and substantial in amount. The food was also delicious and prepared well - especially the grouper entree. However, the service was barely adequate. We sat and waited for menus for 10 minutes until the main server Ashley came to take our order - only to find out we had not been given menus. We had 6 different wait staff serve us over the evening, which prevented us from getting to know 1-2 servers or the servers to get to know us. There were empty tables, so it did not seem that they were understaffed.
First time and we’ll be back.
The food was outstanding and looked as good as it tasted. We had the grouper, swordfish everyone raved about their meals. Our server was very attentive and the manager, Robert checked on us several times. Everyone was very friendly. Even though the restaurant was pretty full, we could still hear each other talk. Great ambiance & acoustics. Just when we thought we were done and expecting the check, they surprised us again. It was a true dining experience! PS. Don't skip dessert!
The oysters on the half shell were very good. The grouper special & seafood carbonara we’re wonderful!
The customer service was excellent from our hotness ,Bartender and waiter and the General Manager himself who checked in on our dinner to make sure everything was to our liking!
The food was absolutely delicious and correct portions right up the desert. The wine was excellent as well. We look forward to our next diner occasion at the Veranda !
Everything was excellent. It made my birthday extra special. The noise level was a little high, but fortunately our table was not in the middle of the room. Well done otherwise!
Limited menu, service slow, checks wrong, value marginal
Very expensive. Soup was underseasone, in fact not seasoned at all. Ceasar salad was 5 pieces of baby romaine with a drizzle of dressing and a piece of dried out bread for $9. Worst "salad" I've ever been served. No veg with the very expensive fish dishes. Husband paid $9 extra for potatoes and got 4 dollops the size of a quarter. Fish was ok. We fine dine out a lot and don't mind paying for a great meal but this was far from that. Won't be back.
Our waitress was incredible! She was so friendly and new the menu inside and out. I thought the portions were very small for what you pay.
Excellent food and service! We go to the Verandah every year for our anniversary.
Extremely disappointed with the extremely small portions for the price. Drinks were skimpy too. We brought guests there and were embarrassed. We we will not return.
The lobster tails were outstanding. The swordfish was excellent. Our server provided great service.
Server, Hardan (sp?) was superb! Swordfish was outstanding as well as the mud pie !
We felt a few of the portions were a bit small. The restaurant had multiple empty tables and they sat us right next to another full table and it was a bit noisy. We do enjoy going there and would recommend to anyone who enjoys fish to check it out.
It was very expensive for small portions and only side was a very small amount of whipped potatoes with the
grouper for $38.00. If you want sides they are $9.00 each. We ordered a caesar salad for $18.00 and it amounted to some shredded romaine and some toasted bread. The only reason we went was convenience when staying at the Plantation, but we will not make that mistake again.
Food was fabulous as was the service!!
I would recommend the Verandah. The seafood tower was delicious! The pumpkin soup was wonderful! The staff was friendly, accommodating, and very knowledge of the menu . The manager dropped by to inquire of our visit which turned into a pleasant conversation. We will take the opportunity to enjoy the Verandah again soon.
I was here with my girlfriend for her birthday and we had a great time. Had to wait awhile before someone came to take our order but the food made up for that. Great place overall.
The service was excellent; not overly attentive, but just right. We were particularly pleased that our dinner guests, one of whom is gluten intolerant, found numerous interesting menu selections that met her needs.
Delicious food and wonderful service. Can’t wait to go back!
All ok except noise level. We had to leave early — could not visit with our friends at a table for 4.
Gourmet quality food and service, but the atmosphere reminded us of a Denny's.
Our Party of 8 had a good meal at Verandah, our first time. Alison was our server, who was excellent. Her knowledge of the menu was tremendous and recommendations were delicious.
The food was amazing. My husband said the grouper was the best he has ever tasted. Our waitress was the sweetest and very attentive.
Great experience! Our server Alison was awesome. Loved the 4 course NYE dinner and the cool popcorn at the end!
What a wonderful way to celebrate our marriage and the new year!!
Been coming to the Verandah for years to celebrate New Years. Their prefixed menu this year was $89.
Don’t think our group will be doing it Next Year!
Creative cuisine, spicy (yummm) shrimp cocktail appetizer, best(most tender, flavorful) filet mignon ever had!!!! Great nitrogen frozen popcorn!!!
It was my 33rd anniversary. Surprised it was not mentioned during the evening
Our server, Allison was fantastic. Can see why she has worked for Omni for 15 years. Food was good but the service was OUTSTANDING. Thanks Allison.
Outstanding food and service. I asked for an entree size of the shrimp and grits appetizer. The kitchen happily accommodated my request and the dish was amazing. Husband ordered the grouper and says it was quite good. Seafood-allergic kid was very happy with his filet mignon and staff went out of their way to accommodate his allergies. Oyster stew and pumpkin soup also delicious.
Grouper is excellent, as well as the seafood carbonara,. shrimp and bread basket. Service also very good. This was our 3rd time here and it never disappoints!
I had requested a table away from the door, so, guess what, they sat us near the door. After I told them what I requested, they sat us in another location, which was dimly lit. It was Christmas, and dinner was a set price. With the limited menu, I chose the snapper. I had to send it back, as it tasted like it was bathed in salt. The server took it back. The manager came over to apologize, and said that perhaps they should not make it with salt. The replacement fish was tasty. $65.00 was a lot of money for this meal.
Great selection on the menu and excellent service.
