Veranda Fireside Lounge & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I took some business clients here for an authentic California experience. I was a little concerned since it's November and the evenings can be chilly. No worries, as they have plenty of patio heaters which did a fine job of keeping us all comfortable. The outdoor seating, ambiance of the fire places and light live music, as well as an exceptional meal, got me a lot of points with my guests! The wine list was great and the prices were reasonable. We'll definitely use this as a venue for future business events, and I've already told my wife and some of our friends this will have to be a "date night" spot!
We had Chris Stone as our waiter and the attention to detail on his part was wonderful. We never went without drinks or bread and tapenade. Our food was served promptly and served hot. Although we only ordered happy hour, we were still treated with utmost care and attention. We send all of our out of town client to Veranda and when they get Chris Stone as their waiter, we ALWAYS get a great report back. Thanks Veranda
We waited for a hostess for 10 minutes and there were people in front of us, so it took another 10 minutes. After 20 minutes we were seated and was not approached by anyone for another 10 minutes. Finally a waiter came by and apologized for the delay and said he would get to us shortly. Five minutes later we placed an order for food, salads only. We skipped a drink because of the possible delay. The salad came within 15 minutes. The bill came fast, after we declined dessert. The waiter checked on us twice within 5 minutes to see if we paid the bill. It was very loud, but not crowded. I will be waiting along time before I try going here again. My friend had not been there for a year or so and she said she would not come back. I must say I was very disappointed.
The temperature was too hot for comfortable outdoor seating so we opted for the comfort of indoor ac. There were no free "table nibbles" unless you ordered something. Too bad since we waited awhile for lunch. The food was good but disappointedly, nothing new is ever on the menu. It'll be awhile before we go back to order the same old thing.
This was my first time in San Diego and I knew I had to make it worth it. I searched for about 3 days to figure out where I could go to dinner. This particular restaurant kept popping up. I did my research through several different websites and most of their reviews were amazing. I had an event earlier in the day, and they were able to accommodate my late reservations. I was also late and they were still so kind about it! The hostess was amazing!!! She was so nice and welcoming. The entire place is gorgeous and the food is amazing. My boyfriend loved the Surf N' Turf. I loved the Salmon! What I loved the most was the teamwork. Our waiter plus the other servers all helped each other out to ensure we were fine.
Definitely, can't wait to go back!
Love the music out on the veranda. The weather was perfect. Our waiter was very attentive and laid back at the same time. I love their salads--perfectly dressed. Dessert is expensive but you get a large portion--could be cut in half, I think,--portion and price. Lovely evening.
Service was very nice and the view of the golf course is lovely! They offer heaters if it gets chilly. Food was good, over the course of several days as a hotel guest I had pancakes (3 enourmous ), omelette, weekday breakfast buffet, Cobb salad, short rib sandwich, and burger. On different evenings they offer certain specials, taco and tequila Tuesday, burger Monday, etc. Prices are a bit high for my taste ($5 cappuccino, $4 cup of coffee) but was not in a position to leave the property. It is very clean outside, which is where I sat because of the view of the fountain on the golf course .
Had a great dinner. Staff took good care of us and offered choice of complimentary dessert since we were celebrating a birthday. Live music was a really nice touch and the band was good! We were seated near a large group so the noise level was just a bit high, but tolerable. Food was excellent and fresh. Would recommend and go again!
Lovely venue for a Friday lunch in San Diego inland. Waitstaff made sure to adjust umbrellas to keep my friend and I shielded from the sun. Unfortunately, the food, the menu, the "special" cocktails, will NOT have me coming back ANYtime soon (even though I live a stone's throw away). I ordered a meal sized Caesar salad with added salmon. I requested "light dressing." What I was served was a soggy, warm, mayonnaise-y, bland salad with a small, dry, fishy-but-otherwise-tasteless piece of salmon. Only the croutons had flavor. And at an extra $12 for a 3 oz piece of salmon!?? Ridiculous. RB Inn tries to be a spa-destination...why not fix this menu to include healthy but TASTY choices?? I chose the hackneyed Caesar because all of the other salad choices were laden with heavy cheeses and sweet dressings. The ONLY reason I didn't send it back was I didn't want to spoil the rare visit with my friend (who by the way hated the cocktail she ordered even though it sounded good -- raspberry something with Amaretto or something? And my $15 glass of Cab? NO, just NO). I DO hope RB Inn management reads this review.
The food was great, wine selection was great. Loved the live music and the view was great as well. I would have nothing but praise for this establishment if it were not for the extremely slow service. We had to look for our waiter (Anthony) at each step of the service from the initial order to every single step in between. It was very frustrating as it was distracting when I was there for a business meal and wanted to focus on the business rather than the lack of service. Due to its location, we do go there from time to time and about half the time, the service is horrid and it takes forever. The other 50% it is great and it makes us willing to go back. But this was the worst.
