We have dined at Vera Mae's for several years. This was the first time for us to go under new ownership. We had a reservation (there were 4 of us) and we had the best table in the house up next to the window. The special was filet tips in a gravy which 2 of our party had and said it was delicious. One person had the dill crusted cod and I had the breaded pork cutlet. We all agreed that the food was delicious. Two of our party had the famous French onion soup which has NOT changed. Still the best. We all agreed that service was a little bit on the slow side but at a restaurant of this quality, it's nice to simply enjoy the atmosphere. We will continue to patronize this restaurant. Fun to see a lot of the same staff.

Our anniversary experience; New management and renovations aside it was a nice experience but not our best. We checked in early and request to sit in the bar area until our table was ready. Our reservation time passed and had to remind the hostess we were already here and had to wait additional time until a table was ready. Allergy restrictions were ignored so food had to be taken back. Requests were forgotten and server would return asking again for our request. The normal flow was not present. We understand change must happen but the “new” is nowhere close to the “old”. We hope the new owners and management can come close or have a resemblance of Vera Mae’s Bistro that was loved and operated by Ken and Steve. We will be back with expectations and open minds. Best of luck to all.

This is not the same Vera Mae’s. I knew it had been sold and expected changes. Same lovely wait staff who are always great, that is the only good thing I can say. Half the restaurant was closed and blocked off which meant no back entrance (which is where most of the parking is) and closing off half the place stifled the atmosphere. My mother order her $45 steak rare (and we emphasized this). It was brought to her well done. Kitchen corrected it but still. Side dishes of snap peas and roasted potatoes were over cooked and salty. Not to mention they were served with multiple entrees not paired with a particular dish. Epic fail all the way around. This was always one of my highlights when I come to visit Muncie, sadly I won’t be back.

New management has changed menu with limited selections now. Server we had at this dinner was rude and not customer friendly or considerate of one person's limited mobility issue. All in my party had been loyal customers since Vera Mae's opened by previous original owners. We will not return in future.

We were seated to close to a loud party at the bar. Also my wife didn’t enjoy the cod. She said it was really dry. My filet was amazing though as well as the spinach won tons. Our server was great and very prompt. Would definitely recommend.

We have dined at this restaurant for many years. Last night the food was well prepared and delicious. The service was very good. The decor of the restaurant is different under the new ownership and not as well decorated. The thing we missed the most was the personal attention from the previous owners, Kent and Steve. They always greeted us by name and spent time talking to us. No one came to our table to inquire about the food and service other than our server. That was disappointing.

The Ambience created by a life guitarist drowned out the conversations from other table, and made it feel far more intimate. While I felt general enthusiastic conversation, I was unable to discern any conversation aside my own table. Which is perfect.

Returned after moving out of the area and was thrilled that Vera Maes still felt like our neighborhood pub with upscale cuisine and wine. Bartender Carlos makes the best cosmopolitan anywhere and I have tested many. So great to see some of the same friendly staff. Helen again made us feel so welcome. Rather a one time visitor or a regular, Vera's continues to be a welcoming and comfortable place.

This place, over the years, has been comparable to other fine dining establishments, but the new changes that have been made from ownership to the Executive Chef and the culture have been nice. Great food, service, and attention to guests' needs are second to none.

The atmosphere was lovely and the service was great. The steak skewer appetizer I ordered for dinner was tasty, but came with a side bowl of dry, flavorless rice. The french onion soup was delicious though I was a little caught off guard by the blue craft scissors that came on the plate to assist in cutting the cheese. They did come in handy even though they didn't seem to flow with the overall class of the atmosphere. It was a fine evening, but for the price, we've gotten much more closer to home.

We came to Vera Mae's for my wife's birthday. We had the seared tuna appetizer and it was excellent and presented very well. I sometimes take pictures but on this occasion I didn't. We both had the their famous French onion soup. It didn't disappoint. My wife had the special of the night which was the grilled swordfish. It was prepared perfectly with a pear topping with a basalmic reduction. She loved it. I had the blackened salmon and shrimp. It's currently is on their everyday menu. It was excellent with the Cajun butter sauce. The sides were cuscus and asparagus. I loved it and would recommend to anyone loves salmon. It was NOT over spiced. We finished our meal and shared the chocolate cheesecake. We would highly recommend the restaurant.

Our server, Darrell, did a great job. However, it was painfully obvious there were issues (staffing or management) in the kitchen. We arrived at 6:00 for our reservation at that hour. Our entrees weren't brought to our table until 8:00, two hours later. Darrell was apologetic and very engaging with us. Once the main entrees arrived, the food was good. I had made the reservation about a week in advance and specifically requested the table where we usually sit (110). It had been given to someone else. I did request one of our three meals be comped due to the excessive delay. That was granted. It was not our usual quality visit we've become accustomed to at Vera Mae's.

This was the second time eating here. I was expecting regular menu items not limited selection on Valentines Day (basically Veras choising what you will eat). I did not care for that. It would've been nice to let people know on the website prior to making a reservation otherwise would have chosen another day to come. Alot of the courses had some kind of seafood. I don't know if I will be back.

The service and staff were great. The jazz music playing over the speakers was a little too loud. The restaurant itself was clean and nicely decorated. However, the food wasn't great. The salmon was undercooked and cold. Then raspberry fried chicken was salty and a side of brocoli was literally a single piece. Overall, given the quality and small portion size of the food, the prices seemed a bit high.

Overall amazing experience. My duck was little underwhelming. Crab cake was delish however first two bites had claw in in that I bit down on. To be expected I guess if they make it fresh? And dessert time came around and I had broken pieces of the dish in my creme brulee. Had to be a crazy coincidence
