Hadn’t been here for a while - and my friend never had - I planned a surprise double date for his birthday. The four of us had a great meal, yummie drinks and the atmosphere was as special as I remembered! We’ll be back more often!
Food was bland, steak wasn’t cooked properly & fruit flies were flying around our table the entire time we were there. This place is mediocre at best.
The venue and service were nice but the food was sub par.
My Caesar Salad was "over dressed" limp and soggy - unpleasant to eat. To your credit, your manager made the rounds and asked about our experience. I was able to show him my meal. He agreed that it was an unacceptable product.
While he did not offer to refrain from charging me, he did give me the dessert of my choice free of charge.
Salads are easy and should never leave the kitchen looking like mine did. I will give The Venue another chance, but not many more than that.
We went for lunch which has a very different level of service than dinner. We eat here regularly so I feel confident in reporting that. Waiter was inattentive and forgetful. He did comp our appetizer as he forgot to enter it in.
Great seafood. Bread is always wonderful. Great service.
Went there for our 30th Anniversary. Waitress was very helpful and staff was great to get the flowers and special glasses that I brought in on the table and wine chilled and ready to go when we got there. Made is a special night!
Excellent, knowledgeable server, great variety on menu. Pasta dish with pork is off the charts great.
Anniversary celebration. Waitress was intelligent and checked immediately with chef when I asked her where the balsamic vinegar came from and what variety of heirloom tomato they were using. The duck was a dish to remember, comparable to the impact of a meal in Shanghai. Quick accommodation for wife's transport chair. Sound levels were low, making conversation possible.
Went during restaurant week. Really enjoyed the appetizers and desserts. The Salted Caramel Cake was to die for! Service was a bit off but they were very busy. Would highly recommend.
We ate in the main room the first time and did not like it as it was way too noisy. Since then we have been seated in the bar and really like it.
Went for our 39th wedding anniversary. Was told about free champagne because of the occasion but it did not appear nor was it mentioned again. Probably would have turned it down anyway. Waited quite some time for the waitress to appear. Had to flag her down in order to order an appetizer. Food was very good.
We had a great time! The food was wonderful as always. Cortney took such good care of us!
Great food and amazing staff. Not an every day place but definitely great for special occasions.
We had a great dining experience at the Venue and will definitely go back very soon.
Everything was excellent. The blended burgers were outrageously good. I highly recommend giving them a try. Probably the best hamburger I’ve ever had. The apricot old fashioned was excellent as well.
This has to be our 20th time to the Venue. It is our "go to" place for a great dinner. The environment is friendly, the food is always excellent and the restaurant staff always makes us feel special. We started the evening in the bar with a couple of well crafted drinks. I ordered the special for the evening, a lamb chop, crispy zucchini strips and corn on the cob with a great infused mayo. I enjoy veal and this version was something that I had not eaten before and I was certainly glad I went for it. My wife had the beef filet with sides and she was very pleased. We finished with slice of chocolate salted caramel cake that was decadent and sent us totally into the food coma we had hoped for. The Venue is fantastic!
Pleasant server. Nice interior. Food just okay.
Very nice evening, the only small issue is that it is fairly noisy, otherwise it was great food, service was super & I loved the free dessert for my 60th birthday! Thank-you!
Just wish there was a quicker way to get around Lincoln from the north to south side! Someday....
We had not dined at Venue in some time. The Blackened Pork Flat Iron Gnocchi Sardi is a most amazing dish. It's rich, creamy, crunchy, spicy, mild...there is a LOT going on in this dish, and it ALL works. We also had the Filet Mignon with the Soy Braised Mushrooms. Those mushrooms are the most incredible we've ever had. Salty, yes from the soy. But a perfect addition to the steak! DELICIOUS all of it!!
Had dinner with my sister, who lives in another state, so I don't get to see her very often. Overall we enjoyed our meal: The service was friendly and the food was good, especially the crab cakes, which I would highly recommend. My only complaint is that we had asked for some of our leftover food to be boxed up, and we never got that, even though we waited for 10 or 15 minutes to get it. (It was a Saturday night, and the restaurant had gotten quite busy.)
The steak (Delmonico) was fantastic. We also tried the brussel sprouts, which were an interesting dish and excellent.
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary recently. The wait staff was very welcoming and the food was great! Service from ordering to receiving our food was terrific! Thanks for making our special occasion a great memory.
The food was amazing as was the dessert. We got a box for both because we couldn’t resist trying their Salted Caramel Cake. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend.
The problem with Venue, where the food is very good, is that it has pizza and sandwiches on the dinner menu. So it attracts families with rowdy kids and screaming infants, dressed in shorts and t-shirts. We wanted a quiet up-scale dinner. The food met that standard but the ambience was bad. Bad, bad, bad. Dinner is not just about the food but about the service and the ambience.
My family was in town from St. Louis for an anual pony club rally. Asked the front desk of the hotel if she was abke to out for dinner once a year what restaurant would she pick. Without hesitation she said the venue. The food was absolutely amazing. On the menu they have listed kitchen sixer and after eating our meal we added on the kitchen sixer for the awesome job the kitchen did. Now our server was either slammed or just didn't care I'm not sure. We watched as other tables around us had a dessert tray presented. Our server handed our table of 4 one dessert menu to share. Just wasn't a good server for the caliber of food and prices offered. We will be back next year when we have our rally
Had an outstanding meal with wine & dessert for our anniversary! The waitress was very attentive and knew her job! We were most impressed with the Executuve Chef Jon Benton calling out orders to the cooks and running the show with unique menu choices! We’ll definitely be back and feel Venue restaurant is a treasure for Lincoln, NE!
Venue is our go-to spot for anniversaries and other special occasions. The food is top notch and the service is always outstanding. Whether we're in the mood for something new and unexpected, or we're just looking for the 'usual', chefs at this restaurant always deliver.
Very nice. Food was some of the best I have had in Lincoln.
Anniversary! They congratulated us on multiple occasions and gave us each a glass of champagne. Awesome.
It took the food and the dessert longer than usual to come out. We were there for 2 hours and it wasn't because we were taking our time.
We love the Venue. We are never disappointed. The food and service is always great1
Great from beginning to end
Good place. Most of the food was good. The 7oz filet had very little flavor but otherwise all was good. Excellent service and nice place.
Lincoln is a halfway point when we are heading to and from Colorado. We try to find an interesting place for dinner when we stop. Venue was a pleasant experience. We enjoyed our meals (duck for me with a preparation that was out of the ordinary and surf ‘n turf for spouse with a superb cut of beef perfectly prepared along with the shrimp). Wine selections were plentiful in a variety of price ranges! We splurged on dessert, pear crepes and ricotta cheesecake. We favored the cheesecake and enjoyed the pears but found the crepes to be too doughy and chose not to eat them. Fortunately the pears were artfully placed on top making it easy to avoid the crepes. Our server was friendly and willing to consult with the chef regarding questions we had about the better wine to complement the meal. Looking forward to another visit the next time we’re in town.
The food and the server were good. The restaurant was too warm and there were gnats everywhere. If your party is mixed race or perceived to be non-traditional (e.g. homosexual) then you will most likely be placed in a smaller area off to the side.
Not my favorite. Steak was tough and tasteless. Service was so-so. I don’t know if they were understaffed or what...but we waited a LONG time between service visits. I ordered asparagus-it was about an inch thick, very tough.
Had friends here from Denver where they have endless incredible restaurants and thought they might enjoy Venue. Not only did they enjoy it, they loved it! One friend had steak and said it was perfectly prepared, his wife had a vegetarian dish and raved about it, and I had the Three By Sea and it was fabulous as was the risotto that was served with it. They also thoroughly enjoyed the bread and the selection of spreads and dipping oil. All three of us enjoyed the wine we had (I didn’t order it and can’t remember what it was ☹️). The presentation of the salads was clever. And, finally, dessert was the most incredible piece of chocolate cake that had crushed meringue bits on the plate and a wonderful ganache. That cake is not to be missed! Our waiter was excellent and had thorough knowledge of the menu and the specials. He never missed a step on anything. The manager stopped at our table to ask us if our dining experience met or exceeded our expectations (it did!).
Okay, now the negative...and there were only two. The noise level is a distraction and annoying. It seems to me that acoustic tiles or some remedy could be found to solve that issue. Also, the ladies room was dark and that was disconcerting. That said, I would still give Venue 5 stars *
I booked and said the dinner was for an anniversary, but that seemed pointless - they did nothing special. I wouldn't recommend this place for a birthday/anniversary. Go somewhere else where the staff/restaurant makes your dining experience a little more special. This place would be nice for a casual Friday night dinner date.
