Venue Restaurant & Lounge
Haven’t been there for a few years. It was my wife’s birthday and so we went. I had made reservation online and they ready. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Wife got a free dessert that was really good. We enjoyed the night.
I spent a fair amount of time and effort to arrange a special evening for our anniversary and it turned out to be a very average experience.
The food was good and our server was good, but I received none of the additional fanfare I was told (and had planned for) I even tipped the manager $20 prior to seating as a gesture of thanks for what I believed was going to be a special night for my wife. What a wasted effort.
I will never eat there again. Nor will I ever recommend it to anyone.
Usually a very good experience our visit this night was pretty off. Time from seated till food arrived was 55-60 minutes. We did not order apps or delay ordering at all. The special (seabass) was excellent, no issues. The kids steak was tiny, maybe 2 oz. It was half the size of our 4oz salmon filets. The salmon was off, it tasted funky and had zero seasoning. Usually pretty good this night the salmon smelled and tasted bad. Server gave no explanation of the long ticket time. Overall things should have been caught by QC just weren't.
Always excellent. Never worry about a bad experience
A good meal. I noticed the menu was much smaller and it wasn't as busy as usual. We had a table of seven, which may be why my food was not warm.
Food was poorly cooked and no attempt for a nice presentation. The salted caramel cake was the only really good item.
We had a wonderful first experience at the Venue. Will definitely return, good food, outstanding wine list, atmosphere is great and the service is fantastic. Don't miss this gem in Lincoln.
Always great food! Many creative specials every time we go there.
We love the Venue. Our server was great and got us complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary. It was such a nice touch. The food was amazing. We loved everything about the meal!
Awesome blackened salmon. Sides and dessert of the salted caramel cake were great. Servers were working very hard but the kitchen was slammed due to a large private party. So the food delivery took a bit longer than usual.
Excellent evening, Fantastic wine service. Best waitress we have experienced in Lincoln, Nebraska and honestly well made food. This is a great special occasion restaurant and I look forward to our next visit.
We met some friends for an early dinner and as usual it was GREAT!
It took a long time for the drinks and bread to be brought to the table. The food was tasty, but one plate of food arrived cold. Shrimp were badly overcooked. But crabcakes were fabulous (rescued the evening). The server seemed distracted with setting up the restaurant for the next day rather than tending customers. It's the first mediocre experience I've had. The prior ones were much better in food quality and service. Perhaps just an off day for the Venue.
Noisy but still a good value. NOT recommended for a romantic evening.
This is probably my favorite restaurant in Nebraska and better than many other "great" places that I have visited in the US.
Awesome Steak, Best Brussel Sprouts, Great Apps and the Venue Salad is my favorite non-meat salad. Also, Gaye is a great server.
Will be coming back.
We went to celebrate my husband getting his Associates Degree. We ate in the lounge and were there for the tail end of Happy Hour. Our server, Anelle, got right to our table in time to get some apps and drinks from the Happy Hour menu. She was extremely personable, perceptive, professional, and kind. The food was incredibly delicious, per the usual. Such a great night celebrating!
We will definitely go back. The location of our table was more private which was nice. There is a variety of items on the menu. Great atmosphere for a casual or special occasion. Highly recommend.
Our reservation was at 4:45 pm because Michael Buble was in town and all restaurants were very busy. This was our first visit to The Venue. Our server was knowledgeable, smiley, courteous, and fast. I had the surf and turf, filet and shrimp. It was cooked to perfection was wonderful. My house cabernet wine was delish. My husband had a lobster dish which he enjoyed. Definitely recommend a fine dining experience to all.
Phillip was our server and was very attentive. Excellent food as usual! Venue is one of the best places in town to eat.
One of the few Lincoln restaurants where we could hear each other easily. My food was delicious; my husband said his was bland. But our service was great, as was the $40 bottle of wine (25% off thank goodness).
Food was great, as always. Service is also usually great, but this time, it wasn’t. Our server was non-existent. I think he might have been managing a large party room at the same time. The manager had to take our drink order and other servers delivered our food. The whole process took about 30 minutes longer than expected.
We love the Venue so much we are having our son’s rehearsal dinner there!!
Was surprised that I had to wait 10 minutes since I had a reservation. This may effect my perception of the food. Wait staff was friendly and did not bug us continually during our meal. I had the filet of ribeye. I expected a bit more flavor from a rib eye. This cut had had no marbeling.
We are new to Lincoln and are exploring the food scene. Have been twice at Venue recently and once at their Piedmont bistro. The food is excellent at Venue and everything matches the food, wine, decor, service, attention, etc. overall a great experience and worth the expense. The bistro a few nights ago had also near excellent food but the service was not at par with our waiter needing training for refinement and better care. The noise level was much higher too at the bistro. It is a chatty place. We will be back for good in Lincoln in May and will try Cactus also run by Venue.
A wonderful dining experience.
Steaks to perfection.
We chose The Venue to celebrate the 54th anniversary of our engagement and were not disappointed in the least. Our server was great as was the food. We will be back for sure.
Service was great. Atmosphere was fantastic and the food was amazing
Food and service were wonderful. Unfortunately, the "kitchen"was so busy we had to wait 40 minutes for our food. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind but had clients with us as guests. We had a MOST hospitable server which made it easier to wait.
This is our third meal at Venue and we have never been disappointed with the food, the service or the welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
Never disappointed with the Venue. Always great food and service
We enjoy the booth all the way in the back so we can carry out a conversation without too much noise. The food is always great and the service is nothing more than top notch. Thanks for a great evening.
Great food as always
Venue is always great but food, cocktails and service were outstanding tonight!!!!
Well, the blizzard on the 23rd of February didnt stop me from wanting to propose to my fiance. The waitstaff was amazing as was the food. I am so thankful to everyone at the Venue being there that night and staying open to help me start my proposal. I am so happy for everything Venue did for me! Again thank you all! -Zach
Well... this was one of the stranger dinner’s we’ve had, if you call it dinner. We were a party of two who came to celebrate a birthday later on a Friday night. We were seated, ordered drinks, and then were reviewing the menu as we prepared to order.
Let me just say, the Venue has always had great food, which is only outdone by their service, which has usually been fantastic. This night was, well, different.
After 20 minutes or so, the manager came by and said hello. He then informed us that the kitchen had been “compromised” and they couldn’t make any more food. At first we thought he was joking, but he assured us he wasn’t. We didn’t get much more of an explanation other than this (whatever was going on) was apparently a first for him too. He offered us a gift card and dessert, but again made it clear they couldn’t cook any more food.
We finished our drinks while we tried to figure out where we could go for dinner yet that night. Meanwhile, cooks remained in the kitchen and a few plates of food were even brought out to someone.
There could be an legitimate explanation for what was going on (again, usually a solid restaurant) but we sure didn’t get one that night. Just a gift card and a hope you’ll come see us again.
We left, hungry and puzzled.
I would recommend the Venue. However, I would suggest to not go on the special nights. The night we went there was the special 5 course meal for $125 per person. We order off of the menu. There was a few misses that made the evening not up to par. My wife's drink was not made correctly, and her dessert was delayed due to the first order being burnt. It was corrected and the cost of the desserts was not charged to our bill. Serve was slow, but they were busy, that night.
I was in a party of five. We had a reservation, but some of the party arrived early. They were graciously seated in the bar, and were provided speedy and very knowledgeable assistance. We all eventually were in the bar, which was very pleasant. The Sazerac was really outstanding, and better than the one I had where it was allegedly invented! When we asked to be moved to our table in the dining room, we were escorted in and ushered to a very nice table. The main dining room was busy, but not crowded. It seemed less noisy than I remembered, which was much appreciated! The beef tartar on a marrow bone is to die for. Great experience. Thanks, Venue staff!!
Great experience! The food was amazing and the service was exceptional.
Excellent in every way. Our favorite restaurant, bar none.
Our table was ready when we arrived. The server was excellent and very cheerful. Food came on time and was delicious. One minor point was we were seated close to the door and when it was opened it was quite chilly.
