Ventuno is a classic Italian restaurant. Its cuisine is inspired by the Italian hillsides in Friuli. The restaurant's spacious dining areas are romantic and relaxed. Ventuno is a great place to share a meal with a loved one or enjoy an intimate dinner with family and friends.
Begin the meal with a plate of pork and beef meatballs in tomato sugo, fried local calamari or chilled Nantucket oysters in Campari-grapefruit Italian ice. For the main course, try a house made pasta dish like the pappardelle al sugo d'agnello, spaghetti alla vongole or radiatori di farro. Ventuno also offers a variety of sides to enjoy with any meal, including duck-fat fried fingerling potatoes and heirloom polenta with parmigiano. End the meal with a sweet dessert like bomboloncini, butterscotch budino or crostata.

Ventuno Ratings and Reviews
Ventuno was very nice, although it wouldn't rank as my favorite restaurant in Nantucket. So many people recommended the fried stuffed olives that we tried them. They really are very good. However, one order is 5 small olives and cost $5.00. Yikes. I know Nantucket is expensive, but that seemed like a lot. The polpette starter was very good, but once again expensive for what you get. My husband was really impressed with his steak. The braised lamb pasta was delicious. My duck was properly cooked and was a huge portion. All in all, we would go back and try some of the other things on the menu.
I usually love going to Ventuno, but not up to expectations.
1st, the service was really off. The young gals they hire are pleasant, but there were long gaps when I could not get anyone's attention (despite trying). And they forgot to bring out a soft drink for our daughter until later in the meal- when I had to remind them.
2nd - and less concerning - this is a great Italian restaurant - but would love to see less beef and more pasta and other lighter fare.
Service was excellent. Really interesting wine (Nozzole Tuscan Chardonnay).
Unfortunately, the halibut meal was "unrefined". I had such a great piece of halibut at Ventuno in June of 2015, that I couldn't wait to order it again this year. The preparation this year had changed and while the fish was great, the beans below they felt like they had just been dumped from the Goya can. It was a combination of flavors that was not refined and didn't work well together. Too bad.
I loved the pappardelle with lamb.
Duck breast was superb
Kale and escarole was excellent.
Duck fat fried potatoes lasted about 2 minutes before everyone gobbled than down!
Had dinner during restaurant week. Service was the worst I've ever experienced and I have never seen such a poorly managed or trained wait staff.
Slow doesn't begin to describe it, a total of 3.5hrs for dinner following an 830 seating. The group sat at the table with water and a single piece of bread for an hour before placing our orders followed by at minimum of 30 minutes for each course. This would be understandable if the restaurant was busy but it was not, and certainly not by the time our meals were finally arriving ~10:30pm
Inaccurate, at every turn. One person was served their first course before the salad, which required the food to be turned back, and subsequently received both the first course with the main course at once. Another did not receive their first course and the waiter basically tried to sell the meal that had been brought out in error in exchange for what was actually ordered. Finally a member of the group did not receive their entree and when asked about it, was informed that the dish was no longer available and it would be an additional wait for the kitchen to cook the dish.
Overall, the meal was such a strange contrast between the quality of food, which was very good, and the atrocious service which ruined the whole experience.
Ventuno is a stand-out on an island of great restaurants. My wife and I went for restaurant week - not only was the food excellent, the service was impeccable and atmosphere a perfect mix of energetic but intimate. Look forward to dining with Ventuno again!
The Nantucket food scene is typically pretty boring with conventional menus. Restaurants differ by decor and price with some more attention paid to quality at higher end places but not much creativity anywhere. There are certainly exceptions -- like Corazon del Mar (which sadly, closed) and Town. Ventuno is an exception and one at the higher end to boot. Attention from servers was solicitous but not intrusive, food quality and creativity were both excellent across multiple dishes - on par with what a big eating city might offer. Drinks, sides, appetizers, pasta, main dishes - all were excellent and often interesting taste combinations. The atmosphere was festive but dinner conversation was easy due to the noise being broken up by the multiple small rooms. I hesitated to go because I fear Italian restaurants will follow formula but Ventuno does not. The chef is a star, the staff is wonderful, and I will be back.
Very good. But with So many options on ACK, it has to be better than Very Good to get me to return, especially when I only have a long weekend to experience all the island has to offer. Awkward Sommelier experience; Tomahawk steak yummy but too fatty and undercooked; service a little too attentive. Would recommend, but not as an Essential destination.
All 5 of us loved our meals! The chicken with ramp spaetzle was a favorite, as were the lamb and halibut. The staff was low key but attentive and very pleasant. The ambiance in the restaurant is lovely; very pretty and sophisticated but relaxed. We definitely will go again!
Food continues to impress during the most recent several meals.
Scallop special this past weekend was outstanding.
Service during this particular visit was professional and courteous but timing was a bit "off."
Overall great ambiance with well thought out dishes and a diverse, albeit heavily Italian wine list--certainly among the top overall dining experiences on island.
We had a wonderful and romantic evening at Ventuno. The meal was memorable and our server was knowledgable, friendly, and attentive. This was an exceptional fine dining experience. We will certainly come again and will share our experience with others.
My boyfriend and I came over to Nantucket for a one night stay at the Hawthorne House on Chestnut Street. Ventuno was located about a half block from here which was beyond convenient. We walked in and were immediately impressed by the ambiance. We grabbed a drink at the outside bar while our table was being set. The drinks were fabulous. When our table was called, we weren't rushed to leave the bar. Our waitress, Taryn, was fantastic. The oyster appetizer was superb. My boyfriend had the sirloin and I had the duck. Both were some of the best meals we had all year. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in the perfect night out.
An old sea captain's house (I think), the setting is several rooms with 4 or 5 tables in each, which makes for a nice ambiance and not too noisy when full. Ventuno has a very good menu for mixing and matching, depending on what you are interested in and how hungry you are: several small plates/appetizers (try the fired sausage stuffed olives); a selection of interesting pastas (spicy chicken sausage one was great), and larger plates. Everything we had was uniformly excellent. Service was very good, attentive but not intrusive. Good but not huge wine list; several high quality but pricey ones included. We'd definitely go back again.
Visited Nantucket over Columbus weekend. Ate at Cru, Prime, American Seasons, Brotherhood of Thieves, Co. of Cauldron, and Proprietors table. While all these restaurants were outstanding and each had a favorite dish, Ventuno was the best overall dining experience we had all weekend. The lamb steak was the best bite of the weekend. Don't hesitate.
We really enjoyed Venuto. The food was wonderful, the wine selection very good. We had a very efficient server. The only negative was that what was listed as Fluke Picata, was really
more like Franchaise, as it had a eggs breading, which was not what I expected. The gelato
They made an off menu vegan dish for me which was DELICIOUS!! I was so happy. My husband loved his prix fixe menu too. Only qualm was the service was pretty slow. It was nice to have time to enjoy our meal, but waiting for the check for a really long time at the end is kind of annoying. Would 100% go back though!
The food in this restaurant is top notch. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable but restaurant is understaffed so service suffers. If you want to have really delicious food in an uncomfortably loud environment, you will be happy here. To their credit, they made their entire menu available for restaurant week.
The food doesn't make up for the consistently poor service.... No need to return anymore
When Ventuna first opened, we thought the service mediocre and the food fine but not as spectacular as we expected based upon the buzz...
It seems every season we get dragged back with friends to find the same experience. Although their outdoor bar is great-Skip the restaurant for better options on ACK and have the service you deserve.
On an island with many outstanding places to eat you have to try hard to stand out. Ventuno just seems to be coasting. I've had better meals there in the past. Service was rushed. Three of our party said their food was fair, the fourth was happy with his choice.
Ventuno is located in a beautiful, old building in the heart of downtown Nantucket. The service is outstanding, and the menu is wonderful . My friend and I ordered a few small bites just start. One of them was chicken liver mousse and the other was whipped ricotta with honey. I ordered a salad with peaches, endive , and radicchio. The peaches were wonderful, but the greens were a bit tough. My friend ordered fluke for her entrée, and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered a lamb steak that was supposed to come with farro, but I asked them to eliminate the farro. It was grilled, and it was delicious, but the portion was so small that there was only about three or four bites! I was very disappointed. The hostess told me that she would have them put another lamb steak on the grill, and I thought that was a great idea. One of the managers came over and brought me a kale and carrot salad instead. I was shocked because I had a lot of kale on my plate as the dish came with kale. We were not very happy. However, the restaurant comped our entire meal and brought us a cheese plate as we told him that we were not interested in dessert. I would definitely go back to this restaurant. They reacted very well after having made a mistake.
We come and go to the island and usually choose a night out each time to try a special restaurant. We were not disappointed with ventuno. My fluke prepRation was to die for on a bed of farm fresh vegetables. The other diners enjoyed their meal. Our server was lovely and informed. Great atmosphere !
