Ventuno is a classic Italian restaurant. Its cuisine is inspired by the Italian hillsides in Friuli. The restaurant's spacious dining areas are romantic and relaxed. Ventuno is a great place to share a meal with a loved one or enjoy an intimate dinner with family and friends.
Begin the meal with a plate of pork and beef meatballs in tomato sugo, fried local calamari or chilled Nantucket oysters in Campari-grapefruit Italian ice. For the main course, try a house made pasta dish like the pappardelle al sugo d'agnello, spaghetti alla vongole or radiatori di farro. Ventuno also offers a variety of sides to enjoy with any meal, including duck-fat fried fingerling potatoes and heirloom polenta with parmigiano. End the meal with a sweet dessert like bomboloncini, butterscotch budino or crostata.
Poor reservation system. Inflexible with indoor versus outdoor seating requests. Locked into whichever you request upon reservation.
Ventuno was very nice, although it wouldn't rank as my favorite restaurant in Nantucket. So many people recommended the fried stuffed olives that we tried them. They really are very good. However, one order is 5 small olives and cost $5.00. Yikes. I know Nantucket is expensive, but that seemed like a lot. The polpette starter was very good, but once again expensive for what you get. My husband was really impressed with his steak. The braised lamb pasta was delicious. My duck was properly cooked and was a huge portion. All in all, we would go back and try some of the other things on the menu.
Always a great meal here with attentive service.
I usually love going to Ventuno, but not up to expectations.
1st, the service was really off. The young gals they hire are pleasant, but there were long gaps when I could not get anyone's attention (despite trying). And they forgot to bring out a soft drink for our daughter until later in the meal- when I had to remind them.
2nd - and less concerning - this is a great Italian restaurant - but would love to see less beef and more pasta and other lighter fare.

Service was excellent. Really interesting wine (Nozzole Tuscan Chardonnay).
Unfortunately, the halibut meal was "unrefined". I had such a great piece of halibut at Ventuno in June of 2015, that I couldn't wait to order it again this year. The preparation this year had changed and while the fish was great, the beans below they felt like they had just been dumped from the Goya can. It was a combination of flavors that was not refined and didn't work well together. Too bad.
I loved the pappardelle with lamb.
Duck breast was superb
Kale and escarole was excellent.
Duck fat fried potatoes lasted about 2 minutes before everyone gobbled than down!
Had dinner during restaurant week. Service was the worst I've ever experienced and I have never seen such a poorly managed or trained wait staff.
Slow doesn't begin to describe it, a total of 3.5hrs for dinner following an 830 seating. The group sat at the table with water and a single piece of bread for an hour before placing our orders followed by at minimum of 30 minutes for each course. This would be understandable if the restaurant was busy but it was not, and certainly not by the time our meals were finally arriving ~10:30pm
Inaccurate, at every turn. One person was served their first course before the salad, which required the food to be turned back, and subsequently received both the first course with the main course at once. Another did not receive their first course and the waiter basically tried to sell the meal that had been brought out in error in exchange for what was actually ordered. Finally a member of the group did not receive their entree and when asked about it, was informed that the dish was no longer available and it would be an additional wait for the kitchen to cook the dish.
Overall, the meal was such a strange contrast between the quality of food, which was very good, and the atrocious service which ruined the whole experience.
Ventuno is a stand-out on an island of great restaurants. My wife and I went for restaurant week - not only was the food excellent, the service was impeccable and atmosphere a perfect mix of energetic but intimate. Look forward to dining with Ventuno again!

The Nantucket food scene is typically pretty boring with conventional menus. Restaurants differ by decor and price with some more attention paid to quality at higher end places but not much creativity anywhere. There are certainly exceptions -- like Corazon del Mar (which sadly, closed) and Town. Ventuno is an exception and one at the higher end to boot. Attention from servers was solicitous but not intrusive, food quality and creativity were both excellent across multiple dishes - on par with what a big eating city might offer. Drinks, sides, appetizers, pasta, main dishes - all were excellent and often interesting taste combinations. The atmosphere was festive but dinner conversation was easy due to the noise being broken up by the multiple small rooms. I hesitated to go because I fear Italian restaurants will follow formula but Ventuno does not. The chef is a star, the staff is wonderful, and I will be back.
Very good. But with So many options on ACK, it has to be better than Very Good to get me to return, especially when I only have a long weekend to experience all the island has to offer. Awkward Sommelier experience; Tomahawk steak yummy but too fatty and undercooked; service a little too attentive. Would recommend, but not as an Essential destination.
Food was great. Waitress was pleasant but not very knowledgable with the menu. She was young and probably new. First floor very noisy had to be reseated on second floor. Beyond energetic my wife and I had to yell to hear each other.
All 5 of us loved our meals! The chicken with ramp spaetzle was a favorite, as were the lamb and halibut. The staff was low key but attentive and very pleasant. The ambiance in the restaurant is lovely; very pretty and sophisticated but relaxed. We definitely will go again!
