Recognized as one of the most romantic restaurants in San Francisco, we are located just a few blocks away from the historical Mark Hopkins and Fairmont Hotels, as well as walking distance from the Huntington Hotel, The Stanford Court, and the Ritz- Carlton Hotel.
As you walk into Venticello, you will enter our upstairs area. Our full and complete wooden bar is supplied with an array of distilled spirits as well as some of the finest Italian and Californian wines. This allows you and your guests to enjoy a variety of beverages while hearing the Cable Car bell ring just outside our front door.
Venticello, meaning soft breeze, will sweep you and your guests away with an unforgettable experience.
Food and service was outstanding
Like stepping into a restaurant in Italy. Wonderful fresh made pasta dishes and the service was outstanding. Will definitely be returning next time in SF.
Great neighborhood spot. Authentic Italian. All pastas home made. Parking difficult to impossible. Park at Masonic or Sutter Stockton and walk or Lyft ( from Sutter). Prices very reasonable considering the location. Perfectly cooked wild salmon, great tart lemony zucchini salad. Reasonable wines. Good feeling to the whole place. Hadn't been in a while. Will return.
A really great experience from the minute we walked in to the last step out the door. Friendly staff and very attentive. Food was wonderful. I want the recipe for the dressing on the zucchini salad...wonderful and refreshing.
Main courses arrived just after our starters. The waitress didn’t apologise but just said I have more food for you and shoved them onto the table.
Plates were cold so we had to try and eat it all at once. Garlic overwhelmed everything
The food seems to not be as good as previously. Plus, we had 2 birthday celebrations and a reservation, and they gave us the worst table in the house.
This was are first visit. Wow is the food superb. Mouth watering delight. I mention that I enjoyed cooked fresh garlic to one of our servers and it appeared within minutes. While food is exceptional, the place is comfortable. We highly recommend Venticello to anyone wants remarkable Italian food.
The Pappardelle ai funghi included a variety of mushrooms that gave the dish depth of flavor! The pappardelle themselves had a good eggy flavor.
Place is comfortable, service is good, they are very friendly but the food and the wine by the glass was not good at all.
Excellent service. Lovely restaurant Very good food.
Loved it! Great food and service.
What a gem! We were staying at the Standard Court and walked over. The meals are authentic Italian. The pasta was hand cut and delicious! Our server was attentive and friendly. The entrees were a bargain at $20 each (though I question the need for a $17 caprese salad). I’ll go back again and again!
Good neighborhood restaurant . smaller tables are close to each other. There are some steps to get into the main dining room although there are a few tables on the upper bar level near the entrance.
We had a wonderful birthday celebration dinner at Venticello. Our server, Tim, was very personable and provided a great experience. Very good wine list with both California and Italian wines. The homemade pastas are delicious. Highly recommend for wonderful food and service in a neighborhood restaurant.
One of the best dining experiences we’ve had on all of our visits to San Francisco in recent years. The food is unpretentious, but excellent, the service is efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect whether you’re there for a special occasion or everyday dining. We will definitely be back on our next visit.
This is truly a Neighborhood gem in Nob Hill. The food is authentic rustic Italian with intriguing cuisine options and fresh fish and pasta. Wine list is very good and not overwhelming. The service was impeccable. Ask for a lower level table to get a great view of the Bay Bridge.
We went here before Dido @ the Masonic. Perfect spot to eat prior to a show! I had a Pinot, citrus/kale salad & the Carbonara. All was delicious! We let our server know we were in a hurry and she was very accommodating. This is a lovely spot & consistently good. I’ll definitely be going back!
Second visit for us and as good as before. Great ambience, food and staff.
It was our daughters birthday and she wanted to try Venticellos. It was an all around great choice.
The menu is the perfect blend of delicious firsts, incredible pasta selections for seconds and the main course selections offer a nice variety. The atmosphere is nice with the wood fire oven and wood pane windows. Great wine selection that includes Italian varietals and California delights. Bread and the warm olives to start but good enough for desert.
Small and quaint. Great find with variety of choices and very reasonable prices for dinner in the city. Very nice ambience. Requested table by window for four of us for a 5:30 dinner on a Friday night with husband and two people he does business with on east coast who met us in sfo before we all drove to Sonoma for the weekend.
They are from philadelphiabwhich had fantastic restaurants and fit what we were looking for they loved the restaurant in every way from food, Service, ambiance, decor, wine, beer, view out window of trolley cars and a sliver of the bay.
I’ve dined at Venticello the last two nights. Great service, great food, great ambiance....
Three of us representing three generations made an early 5:00 reservation. The staff welcomed us, gave us our choice of seating and engaged in a delightful conversation. . . we felt comfortable and at ease. Menus were perused, explained and a couple of requests were gladly fulfilled. The food was outstanding as usual. I strongly recommend Venticello !
Good restaurant - good food ... but not great. Good is okay, however. Would go again
Excellent food. Service was a bit inattentive at times despite the small size of the restaurant. Hostess Helen was phenomenal. Overall they went above expectations
Fabulous food and atmosphere in a comfy neighborhood. I'll be back!
Excellent atmosphere and great food!
Wonderful dinner. Waiter recommended the most delicious glass of wine and the pasta was fresh and delicious. We will be back.
Excellent place to eat if you are going to a show at the SF Masonic. The tables are close, but you can still have a conversation. Love the pizza oven in the middle of the venue. I sat next to the pizza oven on my first visit and it got a bit warm, however, it was a warm night. I sat in the same basic area a second time and it was very comfortable.
Food was outstanding place has been there for some 30 years and Tim, our server, had been there for some 20 years and was outstanding.
Venticello is a charming little place with delicious pasta.
We first went to Venticello 10 years ago after my mother’s funeral. It hasn’t changed at all. Still the same fabulous food, great wine list, and warmly welcoming service. It was bad of the restaurant to seat us next to the marble bar counter becaus after eating the tomato calabrese salad with fresh mozzarella, I spent the entire dinner smacking myself every time my hand tried to swipe a tomato from the bowl on the counter. My dinner companions found it enormously entertaining. Honestly, that salad was so good! I had the papardelle with mushroom ragu and while I loved that dish, I loved the spinach and ricotta ravioli with sage and browned butter sauce even more. The sorbet was wonderful too. (Meyer lemon and raspberry!!) but don’t neglect the pastry! The crostata with strawberries and rubharb was pretty darned good. All in all a fine meal!!!
Fantastic hidden gem. Away from the tourists, and great service.
Great food and service. The staff is very attentive but not pushy.
We had a larger group than usual, because on this trip we brought a few friends. Venticello was very accommodating. Our dining experience was delightful.
Great food, quiet table and great service. Reservations were honored.
Food too greasy, not a lot of vegetarian options, close to none by SF standards. Desert was dipped in olive oil and was absolute disappointment. Server was so rude at some point literally snatched an almost empty bottle of whine out of my hands.
Food was delicious. Service was excellent. Able to reserve a late table.
It was excellent food and service.
