Venice Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Venice is a wonderful restaurant but not good on big holidays. Too crowded, too slow, too backed up in the kitchen. Would not recommend going there on New Years Eve or Mother’s Day. Would definitely recommend on other nights as their service is usually superb.
My wife and I chose Venice for our New Years Eve dinner. A great choice. The place was packed but we were seated within 15 minutes of our reservation which gave us just enough time for a cocktail at the bar. Our waiter gave us plenty of time to talk and enjoy our wine and cheese before ordering our main course. Our pasta's were perfect followed by a fantastic desert. Could not have hoped for more on New Years Eve!
The chef Alessandro Carolllo i s amazing. He brought a delicious anti pasto dish to the table--complete with speck, mortadella, 3 different cheeses, prosciutto and caprese salad! Beautiful! The front team with new addition Scott Shaw, really make you feel welcome and feel like family. They are doing a great job there!
The Venice family has taken care of our family for nearly two decades. We have always enjoyed tremendous service, great food and a warm and inviting dining room. Venice has been our place for group events, corporate events or intimate dinners with friends and a date night favorite. Can’t wait to get back!
Our family of 5 had an excellent Christmas Day meal--made especially pleasant by our waiter, Christopher. In fact, kudos to the entire staff for having such a friendly and welcoming attitude on a day at least some of them would probably have preferred to not be working. There were mixed reviews on our cocktails, but unanimous praise for the Calamaretti e Zucchine Fritte and the octopus appetizers. The wild boar pasta and the elk pasta dishes were excellent, with the boar being eerily close to one of our favorite dishes in Italy. We are looking forward to a return trip.
Booked the night before a holiday for a traditional Italian dinner. The menu was limited for the day, so the expected fare was not available, although the gourmet choices were quite good. Exceptional service countered the pricing options. Overall, a memorable experience worth a try.
We had the guanciale (wild boar) with papardelle pasta and the veal scallopine. Both were very good. Portions were large and we took some of both home. The service was excellent (thank you, Suzanne)!
Despite the size of the dining room and the tall ceiling, the noise level was surprisingly low; just what we like!
The lobster bisque was very tasty but I do prefer a thicker, creamier bisque.
We both agreed we'd go back again.
In fairness, we went on Christmas Eve and the place was slammed. However, were seated 30-40 minutes after our reservation time. We were also seated in a room with several large groups (10-12), so the noise level was quite high. Finally, they seemed to have just one bartender and he was overwhelmed. Many of the customers waiting for late reservations wanted a drink. This could have been foreseen and staffed for.
Terrible experience, they over booked the restaurant, we arrived timely and then stood waiting for 45 minutes along with others who had waited for an hour + with no explanation or apology from the management / staff.
Will never return, based on being let down on Christmas Eve, most unprofessional restaurant I have experienced...
The food was very good. We were disappointed that our reservation, made nearly 6 weeks ahead, was not honored. We made the reservation through open table. We arrived prior to our appointment but were seated after a foursome whose reservation was for 6:30. Ours was for 6:15. We were not seated until 7:10. So, we stood in a crowded lobby for 55 minutes. Is that because the other group made their reservation directly with the restaurant and not through “open table”? It was my first experience using the service. It was Christmas Eve....but that is why my reservation was made 6 weeks in advance. Please advise.
We were there for Christmas Eve, and we had a large party of 13. The food was delicious all around. Downside was we were in a cramped room with several other large parties and it was very loud. Wait staff could barely fit in between the tables. Service was a bit lacking. Our entrees came out right after our salads.
Again, nothing wrong with the food, just no real ambience that night. Felt like we were in a cafeteria.
I hate to even write this review because every other visit has been amazing and the reason why we booked our Christmas Eve dinner here. However, tonight we were very disappointed in both the service and food. Unfortunately, we brought out of town guest so it left a rather poor experience. To begin the evening our server didn’t even know our table was his until I asked another server who was suppose to be managing our table. Following that the service was sub par and while we understood the set menu, we expected the selected items available to be exceptional (as they normally are) however, tonight was anything but. We are hoping that the holiday was the reason for the less than stellar experience. We will be back, just never again for Christmas Eve.
