Venice Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
It took about 45 minutes to be seated even after checking in 10 minutes before our reservation time, but since it was Valentines Day it was not unusual for that to happen. They provided complimentary roses for each table and though they were busy the service was good.
I have been here several times and the food was always great. However, going on Valentine's day was a mistake! The menu was limited, food was mediocre at best and it was very noisy and overly crowded. We will definitely not be going at a holiday time again.
Disappointed with this restaurant. It was the first time when we were dining here. The veal scallopini was very salted and I was only able to eat half of it. My husband had the lamb chops, which were good, but it was a small portion for 54$. The pear salad was mediocre. It looked good on the plate, but it was not tasty. They should have used a sweet balsamic vinegar to match the pears and the walnuts, not the regular vinegar. The pears should have been baked not raw, for a better flavor. I recently had an excellent pear salad at Seasons 52.
I had the crepes for dessert. 10$ for 2 tiny crepes filled with nutella seems excessive.
And lastly our waiter seemed to be overwhelmed (granted that the restaurant was full for Valentine's day) and with some sort of anger management problems. Not sure what his name was, because they do not wear name tags and he did not introduce himself. Short, glasses and overweight. He really should find another job, as it was quite obvious that he did not enjoy his job.
This restaurant has high prices for the quality that they offer. We only dined here because we could not find availability for Valentine's Day at other restaurants that we like. We will not come back.
We normally love this restaurant, which is why we chose it for Valentine's Day. They were simply stretched too thin. There was hardly room to move, and the noise level got up there, but never to the point that we had to shout. A pasta entree supposedly had both smoked and fresh salmon, but there was virtually no salmon in it. They had trouble getting the food out, couldn't keep track of the correct tables, etc. I suspect they added tables to cover the demand. I would avoid on holidays. Save it for un-named days.
Mixed Review. Our party of 4 waited an extra 20-25 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation for 7pm. Service was slow but ok. Some of the ordered dishes were very good while others were less than expected, for example my salmon and crab ravioli had a lot of cream sauce but very little salmon or crab. Yet the appetizers and desserts were good. The restaurant is longstanding but may have become more spotty with age? There are many other good Italian choices available that are now better.
Nice atmosphere. A bit noisy (might be quieter in the back but we were seated right in the middle in the front room). Food was good - took a bit longer to be served than I would have expected. Perhaps eating here on other than a Friday night would be quieter / faster service? Dessert - chocolate soufflé was terrific.
The restaurant offered a comfortable setting for our after wedding party group to gather. The food and drink were good and everyone could order what they wanted. Wait staff was attentive and helpful. The elk pasta was awesome, the spaghetti and meatballs was just right. The squash ravioli was also very good. Bread was warm and crusty. The gelato was excellent!
Will try this place again because I want to like it. The meatball and sausage dish was good enough, but my ravioli was quite bland. My husband's veal was pounded too thin and oily. The service was nice (if not entirely attentive) and I l generally liked the atmosphere. I'm a bread lover, so I'd suggest the restaurant add the option of cheese with olive oil. It makes a huge difference to us who are willing to be won over.
Venice Ristorante is a longtime favorite. It is consistently yummy and the service was outstanding. Victor served us and provided the perfect mix of attention and respectful distance. He seemed to read that we wanted to take our time and he adjusted without hurrying us. I had the NY strip steak and my husband a ravioli dish with sausage and scallopini. Both were delicious. I can not recommend Venice highly enough!
Our meal was enjoyable but they slipped a little. The appetizers were not hot- just lukewarm. The entrees were good, but the price goes up every time we go here. Honestly, if the dish costs 25% more than it did a year ago, at least they could give you more. Our favorite server was very nice as always, but just a bit inattentive to us. Still, we love this place.
