Venice Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This spot never disappoints, the food is the best in Westerly. I love the pasta dishes most as I am nearly a vegetarian. The eggplant parm appetizer is better than I've found in Chicago and believe me, Chicago is known for their restaurants and good eating! :) I found the grilled romaine is simple but really interesting. I always get this dish for the table to share. Ricotta cheesecake is a must to top off a great meal.
We have a group of us that have been coming here annually because we have been anywhere between 11 to 26 people. They had always been great with giving us separate checks which is one of the reasons we keep coming back. Our waiter James was seemed a little off when we asked we wanted separate checks. He gave us each a number (which we have done in prior years to keep the checks straight) but even with this, there were mistakes. To avoid having him having to change the bills, we took care of it among ourselves giving the money to the person who was charged in error. It took a very long time to get our drinks and food from the raw bar. All in all the food was good we just could have used better service.
My daughter is getting married and I invited my sisters, nieces and their daughters to celebrate with her by having dinner, dessert (cake I brought) and opening a few gifts. There were 12 in total. Our server was Lou, he was fantastic, he was personable and remembered everyone's names. Wish they had a better wine selection though. Highlight was the food, it was delicious and everything cooked perfectly. Lobster scampi, stuffed lobster, swordfish, clams over linguine, etc everyone enjoyed it. We opened gifts, had cake and although we were in the middle of the restaurant and it was busy we were given great service. The decor is a bit dated but otherwise, clean and staff was excellent.
The meal took over an hour and half to get to us. The only one who seemed concerned about this was the waitress. We spoke to the manager, owner and chef who all seemed ambivalent about our wait and the fact that we had plans for after dinner.
They did comp our drinks and the food was good once we received it. Its too bad that they were so poorly managed/organized.
We had a very nice meal. When we checked in the young women had no idea about open table and said ok but walked away. I had to tell the manager my name so he could check me in. It still took over a week and two emails to open table to get credit for our meal, which as I said before was very good. We started with calamari that was served with a chili sauce that was great. Very fresh served piping hot and very flavorful. Chicken parmigiana and back stuffed shrimp for dinner, both outstanding. We left room for desert of tiramisu. Outstanding overall dining experience that was made better by our server Haley.
Venice restaurant was a wonderful experience for our group of 11. We had plans for a small group for dinner which grew to a larger group when we met some family in the afternoon, our original restaurant couldn't accommodate our enlarged group. We contacted Venice and they were exceptional in making things work for us. The service was excellent, the food was very good and timely with such a large group.
I would recommend a visit for small group or large group, and would certainly consider for a larger event with the friendliness and flexibility they showed in caring for us.
Waitress was very nice. This is the second time we have gone there and waited forever to get our food. There were very few tables that were full and yet we waited and waited and waited. Ridiculous! They did the right thing by taking my prime rib off the bill because it was so tough and dry. Venice is definitely not what it was years ago. Won't be going back. Told them that it was my husband's birthday and they said, "oh we don't do anything for special occasions". Considering our bill without tip was $245 you'd think they might through in a dish of ice cream with a candle. They need to work on a lot of things to get back to where they used to be.
We had a great time, just my husband and I. Wonderful friendly waitress, and the best prime rib we have had in years. It's what we went for and we weren't let down. Even the house salad was good. Large and varied veggies and good homemade blue cheese dressing. Great tiramisu served in a martini glass. Old school Italian restaurant. Go Friday or Saturday for prime rib. We went last Friday and actually talked about going again the next night!! We will go back soon I hope! Make reservations on Open Table.
Upon our arrival,we(2 people) were seated promptly and then forgotten about for the next ten minutes. Approximately ten minutes later, a waiter stopped to see if we were ready to order. He took our beverage order(coffee and a Coke) at the same time as our food order. Ten minutes later, the coffee was delivered.
We ordered two cups of French onion soup, which was superb, a Caesers salad to share and our entree's. The soup came out soon after we ordered. Before finishing the soup, our entree's arrived, but no salad was presented. I told my server our salad was never delivered and to cancel it. He stated that he had planned to bring our salad as soon as we started our entree's. I understand it is common for this in Europe, but we were not. He acted like we were out of line for not wanting the salad with dinner. If this is a new practice, which I doubt, someone should have informed the world! We still tipped appropriately, but were very disappointed at the service, but the food was great.
If the service had been just the slightest bit better, we might have had dessert and enjoyed the rest of our New Years Eve Dinner Date.
We have had wonderful meals in the past. This was not so , very long wait to order, not great portions, the hostess was yelling across the dining room! Our waitress informed us (we had been sitting a while) that the kitchen could not take any orders for at least 15 min. The table next to us had bread 2x's and an app before we had even placed an order. Note we were sat first! The stuffed shrimp were tiny, the salads were tiny especially for the $$$! Very disapointed in a place we once loved and look forward to visiting each year, time to venture further out!
We went here for a 7:00 reservation. It took us 30 minutes before we got our first drink and saw our server. It took another hour and a half to get our food. The waitress kept apologizing, but that didn't bring our food faster. The table behind us kept playing music on their phone. The whole experience was very unbecoming of a quality restaurant.
I went with my kids the food was fabulous! I had a Cesar salad and it was perfect. I also had chicken piccata one of my favorite dishes and I was pleased. The waitress forgot some things I'd say sub par. But the bartender upstairs was great, she was funny and personable!!!
Our waitress was very good, food was very tasty and enough to eat. We did think the person who seated us was a little to rude with the answer to our question about seating us near a window. Also, at one point after we ordered our drinks, a service person came over and needed our menus as they didn't have enough even though we didn't put our order in yet. Then, after we signed our credit card slips they asked us to move to the bar if we continued to stay as they needed the table for the next sitting......I thought it was very tacky at this point. I also forgot that a drink that was ordered was terrible and the bar person told waitress it should be taken off menu and she probably won't like it, which indeed she didn't and ordered something else, which I think should have been on the house.....I would return only because the food was good and the waitress was very good.
We needed to find a restaurant for a quick family meal and Venice was the choice because of the location and traditional menu. While everything was okay, it was not the best experience we'd ever had dining out. The decor is very tired and the room is dark even though there is a lovely view to take advantage of. Food was not great, not bad (veggies were fresh at least). Service was pleasant. There were some small incidental charges on the tab which we questioned and it turns out that if you ask for any cheese other than cheddar on the burger you will be charged for it (my son wanted American cheese). I've never encountered that before. Pretty cheesy.
Service was excellent. Food was timely and well prepared. I had the NY strip which was excellent. One minor issue I had was the front desk was not monitored when we arrived and we waiting several minutes for someone to seat us. Other than that it was an excellent experience.
We are local, dine out frequently and have been enjoying Venice for years. The food is very good, prepared as requested, and portions are generous. (We tend to order beef, seafood, or the occasional Italian entrée.) The staff is attentive and friendly, and the décor and atmosphere pleasant. Over the years, we have also attended banquets and smaller group functions held at Venice and would highly recommend it for such venues. In short, Venice is always a good choice.
