Venice Italian Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Friend from Michigan always wants to go to Venice. Daughter from Tennessee also want to go to Venice when she is home. Easter Buffet has a chance of becoming an Easter tradition. Got a chance to try some desserts. Usually too full to try them when we have eaten there in the past.
Love Lemon Veal Picatta, Gnocchi and Steak.
My husband and I dined at Venice Steakhouse for the first time on the Saturday of Valentine's Day weekend. The service was pretty slow. We received oil and cheese for bread but we didn't get bread until about 10 minutes later. I ordered calamari, which I received without dipping sauce. I had to ask 3 different people for it before I received it. The food was good but our waitress wasn't very attentive, which made our overall dining experience subpar. I would recommend Venice, but I'd say be ready to wait.
We brought out of state friends to the restaurant because we've ridden by it a lot and wanted to check it out. The food was okay, quite salty though and had to pay for every side, service was okay, but we felt like they were a little in a hurry to get us out, even though it wasn't that busy and we had a 6 PM reservation. Overall we had a good times in a beautiful setting with our dear friends.
The steak was good...the issue was the service. All of the staff seemed unhappy. Sat at the bar and heard rumblings from staff. Seems the restaurant was not stocked well. I would think on an expected busy night, you would have enough glassware and mixers. Overall disappointed with "feeling" of the place.
The Veal Picatta was terrible along with the well done asparagus. The veal had too much lemon flavor, which made the flavor bitter. My husband had Veal Marsala which was decent. My food was so bad, that I do not intend to ever go back. I guess this explained why the dining room was almost empty on Christmas Eve.
Also the bread serving was ridiculously small. We got 4 small pieces in each basket.
Overall, very disappointed.
Main meals, chicken parmesan, were very good. However, the appetizer, fried zucchini with tomato and mozzarella had no flavor. I make my own caprese, and the tomatoes are market flavorful. The mozzarella is creamy white and has flavor. Venice's tomato and mozzarella had no flavor, and the zucchini's flavor was that of grease in the fried crust around the zucchinis--very surprisingly disappointing.
The salad was supposed to be balsamic vinaigrette--it was very tart, and there was no reddish color depicting that the dressing had any balsamic in it. I expected a nice reduction of balsamic dressing for this type of restaurant. Again, the tomato wedge had no flavor. Finally, the lettuce was simply iceberg. I realize this was a side salad, but for such a restaurant, I would have thought mixed baby lettuce with romaine would be served.
Finally, again the salmon was very good, and my husband's chicken parmesan was good; however, my garlic parmesan potatoes were lukewarm, and the mushrooms with onions were loaded more with onions than the mushrooms.
There are too many restaurants in the area that serve an entire meal that is flavorful to pay for a lovely atmosphere that Venice does have but for a meal that is not delightful from beginning to end.
The food was nothing spectacular. Our server was nice but was missing in action often. It took awhile for us to get the bill and the restaurant was not packed. The bruschetta was not great. They used the same bread for the bruschetta as they used for the appetizer bread. I had the crab ravioli which was good but the creamed spinach was subpar. I probably would not go back to this restaurant for Italian food.
This has been our go to for years; I'm not so sure we will be going back. The quality of the food has gone down.. And our server, who has been there from day one of there opening kinda has an attitude...like he's better than the people that he is waiting on🤔🤔.. I'm not happy writing this review!!
Very disappointed in our group experience. Arrangements had been made several weeks in advance for a group of 20-30 ladies for dinner. One of the questions asked in addition to whether the group could be accommodated, was if we could also do separate checks. We were assured we could. A personal call confirming all these details was made several days prior to our visit. Tables were available to us on our arrival in a beautiful patio setting. However, only 2 servers were available, and they were serving the outdoor diners as well. Therefore, service was extremely slow--at least 15-20 minutes for water, bread, and beverage orders. As we prepared to order our meals, our server was reminded that we were doing separate checks. This brought out the owner/manager?? who then said it could be done but would take a long time. Since this was one of the details asked about prior to making the reservations, it begins to smell like a "bait and switch" tactic! Dinners arrived and I believe everyone was very satisfied with their selections. However, it then took over an hour to individually settle each diner's check. One person received a bill, then paid (most paid in cash), then change given, then the next person's bill presented. In this day of computerized everything--this just baffled me! My recommendation is to drive a few miles east on Rte 30 and dine at LITTLE ITALY. They have wonderful food as well, and are much better at accommodating a group with separate checks. They also provide more than 2 servers for a group of 30. This venue just lost a lot of future business--the majority of us have agreed we will not be returning.
Everyone on the staff was friendly and attentive. My filet was done to perfection, and my wife's veal with capers was tender and tasty. We ordered the calamari appetizer was lightly breaded and firm without being tough; it would have easily served four diners. It was a wonderful evening. We will definitely return in the future.
Venice is my husband's favorite steakhouse! We've dined in on multiple on occasions but this particular time was different. It was father's day and they were offering the buffet only. We decided to give it a shot and it was a good decision. They were grilling steaks, ribs, salmon and sausage right on the patio and in the atrium were the sides. They offered grilled veggies, pastas, desserts and finger foods. They all tasted great. Our waitresses was very attentive and we never had to look for her for anything. We will be back again!
For a $200 steak dinner for a family of 4, this place was terrible. It took them over an hour to get our food out to us... Just salads, and 90 minutes for the steak. 3 of the people ordered medium or medium rare steaks and all 3 came out well done. It took us 30 minutes to flag down our waitress to say "hey this is wrong, can we send it back". She then immediately came out with 2 of the 3 steaks steaming home and cooked correctly. 25 minutes later she brings out the last steak medium rare. We didn't even bother with asking to fix that one because we knew we would wait another hour. We received no refills on our drinks (ice tea, not even alcoholic) and one of our party never received the refill of coffee he ordered. When we asked to talk to a manager, the waitress told us they weren't available. We then promptly paid our bill and left and will never return. My husband and I go out frequently to very nice steak houses in Chicago, Maui, Indianapolis, and for the price this was pathetic. We tried to take my parents out to a nice dinner, but that blew up in my face.
Love, love, love Reynaldo! He makes your restaurant experience excellent! So rare to get such a terrific professional in our local restaurants. He is downtown Chicago or NY quality. The food is excellent and priced reasonably for the portions and quality. Bar service was quick and well done.
Our second visit to Venice and we were pleased with everything about this place. The staff was friendly informative and professional as well. But not overbearing or pushy. The food again was 5 star from the bread and sautéed suntan peppers to the homemade tiramisu we loved every course. I had the chef special, a filet and crab ravioli combo and it was cooked perfectly. The steak melted in my mouth and the crab ravioli was top notch! I can't say enough about this place it's local, charming, friendly and on both visits I leave with leftovers that are just as deliciouse the next day. I will recomend this restaurant to everyone I know. I think it's defiantly a hidden gem!
Overall, our dining expience was mediocre. Service and ambiance was good. Food was a mixed bag. We both got something off the special. My wife ended up ordering the filet. She ordered medium and got medium well, if not well done. However, we decided not to bring it back. Then we got our bill, and it was $45 for just the steak. Way overpriced for the area, and unexceptional to boot. I would of rather went to Mortons and paid a few more dollars to get a great steak. Worst of all, the specials werent priced, so it was a bit of a surprise. Finally, she got the 'desert in a glass' cocktail. Way too strong, and undrinkable. Would of considered returning to eat despite the shortcomings, but the overpriced filet killed the outing. I hope it was worth the $15 to not have a returning customer.
We have been here quite a few times, and we never thought the food was that great....We recently decided to have dinner here with some friends at last minute, and again, food was terrible. My husband had a filet, and he was very disappointed! You would think that they would learn how to prepare a simple filet! I ordered salmon & it was overcooked & dry! Our friend had a chicken pasta dish which was bland, and he barely ate it. The server was unknowledgable with the wine & menu which is always a good indication of what's to come! She was attentive, but this restaurant needs to clean house & make improvements with staff, food, etc! We will not be going back as Chicago is just as convenient...Its sad, as this place does have potential to be a nice place, but with poor service & food, we choose to not spend the money here.
The restaurant is very nice and welcoming. Upon entering you are greeted and then escorted to your table. The server is very attentive and respective. The food was good, promptly brought out and the temperature was right. Our server was always available and anticipated our parties needs. Thanks had a wonderful night out with the Family !
