Venezia Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We really enjoyed Venezia restaurant. Our server did a great job, helping us choose specials that fit what we were looking for and recommending a great wine from the winery that is connected to the restaurant and paired well with our meal. The food was excellent and came in generous portions. There was a beautiful view of the city across the harbor. We came on a chilly autumn night, but we plan to return when the weather is warm again and enjoy the waterfront area near the restaurant.
Absolutely wonderful dining place. Staff is extremely friendly, informative and all seem to enjoy attending customer needs. Food is always exceptional, plated nicely, fresh and always enjoyed!
Sat at front window by bar area and enjoyed the live music and entertainment...still able to carry on dinner conversation with no problem at all.
Kudos to all, keep up the good work!
36th wedding anniversary. Hadn't been there in about 20 years. Hostess and waiter were prompt and courteous. We ordered a chianti and pinot grigio. Chianti was stale and pinot was tepid. Ordered calamari for an appetizer. Food appeared to have been sitting under a warmer lamp. Mainly small pieces. Entrée was lobster ravioli with clams and zucchini. Clams were the size of my baby fingernail. Ravioli was slightly under cooked. Not much lobster and not very tasty.
Raoul our waiter was great at recommending food for wife since she had food allergies and he knew the menu and ingredients. But took him 3 times to bring extra cheese for Caesar salad but worse to come, wife's meal was fine . I ordered steak special $36.00 was rare and wanted medium but was pure grizzle, couldn't eat and when Raoul came back asked to wrap up un eaten steak except for chewed grizzles on the side, I said " one of the worst steaks ever never had". He took it away and came back with our bill $107.00
Being a Saturday night; the restaurant was quite crowded and the noise level very high. For a restaurant in Dorchester, with many main courses priced at more than $30; the quality and presentation is no longer there. Honestly; I have become very wary of the many restaurants in the area that are apparently charging high prices for supposed "ambiance" while providing mediocre food for their dining customers.... I will not be back.
When we first arrived there was spillover from a function at the adjacent bar. The noise level at that time was very loud and the dining room we were seated in adjacent. Once the partygoers fizziled out the noise level was fine for conversation. I have been there many times as a favorite "lunch" spot, but hubbie's first as well as our out of town friends. They all loved it, Masala the best. Only veal on the menu but If you don't eat veal (poor baby) just ask for chicken.
Service was fine and staff was friendly. Very nice water front view. However there was a lot of loud chatter and the lobster ravioli and crab cakes were just fair. The tiramisu was very good however. We had a 45 minutes drive into Boston. Not worth the distance.
Noise level was over the top. Could not even carry on a conversation with the person sitting next to me. Had to return my meal (chicken piccata - the chicken was cold - seem to come right out of the refrigerator).
Our waiter was EXCELLENT.
Might not be a good place to dine on a Saturday evening.
WE WERE IMPRESSED WITH VIEW AND THE CLEANINESS, BUT WASN'T IMPRESS WITH THE FOOD.
THE SHRIMP SCAMPI, YOUR CHEF SHOULD TASTE HIS FOOD. NO GARLIC TASTE AT ALL. GREAT SIZE SHRIMP BUT NO TASTE.
THE CHICKEN PARM. WAS EXCELLENT , BUT NOT ENOUGH PASTE WITH IT.
THE VEAL MARSALA , WAS VERY GOOD, MY DATE NEVER FINISHES HIS MEAL, AND HE DID. HE ORDERED COFFEE AND BREAD PUDDING. HE DIDN'T LIKE THE BREAD PUDDING HE SAID NO TASTE TO IT. COFFEE WAS GOOD.
WE LOVED THE VIEW AND THE RESTAURANT, SO CLEAN. BUT YOU DIDN'T WOW US AT ALL!!!!
YOU HAVE A GOLDMINE THERE, PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO YOUR FOOD. THERE IS SO MUCH POTENTIAL THERE IF THE FOOD WAS BETTER. WE GO OUT TO DINNER ALOT. HAVE YOUR CHEF GO TO RINO'S IN EAST BOSTON. IF YOUR FOOD WAS LIKE THAT! YOU WOULD HAVE MORE BUSINESS. FRIENDS ASK US HOW WE LIKED VENEZIA. WE WILL NOT BE BACK. IF YOU MAKE A CHANGE THERE PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
My wife and I had a good time. The seafood chowder wasn't that great, it had the consistency of a soup . Our meals were good, my wife had the scallops and I had the Venezia Lobster ( not worth the market price of $50) - the dessert was the winner here - a bread pudding number. Our waitress Taryn was great as was the lady pouring our water. The water view are always good.
I ordered swordfish on a salad. the piece of swordfish was great however the amount of salad was minimal. My friend ordered scallops on a salad there were 6 small scallops on minimal salad greens. for the price not good value. The drinks were so so. we asked for extra dry martini and they put way to much vermouth. the waiter was rushing us. we found out why he was leaving at 10 and made us pay before we were even finished( yes we could order more liquor at bar) but no coffee or dessert. too bad the water view and skyline of boston was very nice
Haven't been here in years and it was just as good as I remembered. Went to celebrate a birthday. Food was delicious and service was great. Nice table by the windows - too bad it was cloudy rainy day. Really nice place to go for celebration or a great meal!
We felt rushed by the wait staff. The view was pretty but we couldn't enjoy it because we felt so rushed. The food was adequate, not great and not worth the price. I had to send back angel hair pasta because it was undercooked and hard. I ordered chicken picatta that was bland.
Would never recommend it to anyone and would never go there again.
Got a sitter & went on a date with my spouse. Host put us at a table covered with salt or sugar with a wet chair. It took the waitress a long time to take our order. Ordered Caesar salad and iceberg wedge salad. Portions are really small, but salad was ok. I ordered the short ribs & polenta. The short ribs were too salty to eat. They were also tough. It seemed as though they were previously frozen & cooked in a pressure cooker. They didn't have that fall off the bone texture you'd expect. The polenta was flavorless. I only ate a few bites & still felt hungry when we left. My husband ordered the bacon wrapped filet mignon. It tasted like a big piece of bacon masking the taste of the filet. The waitress would drop food off and leave right away. It had a banquet type of feeling. The noise level, families video taping each other and taking pictures made it feel like we were at a wedding. We felt rushed to finish up and pay because there were other families waiting to be seated. If you enjoy a high end restaurant with great service, I wouldn't recommend. We've been to the Mother's Day brunch which is great, but really dissatisfied with our restaurant experience.
Went for lunch for Boston Restaurant Week. Value for food served was very good. Excellent Seafood Chowder. Could've been a little thicker, but overall very good. Boneless short ribs were excellent. Very good sized portion. Molten Chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was excellent.
However, ordered iced tea. Was served in a flute glass, rather small portion. Asked for " a little more tea" and was served another glass of the same and was charged for the second glass. This has to be the only restaurant that doesn't refill iced tea but instead elects to charge for the refill.
Not a good way to bring back customers.
