About Veneto Tapa Lounge - Hotel Rialto
A stylish sophisticated urban lounge (19years+ no minors) in the heart of downtown Victoria, Veneto is the ideal place to unwind with co-workers and friends. Adorned in exotic wood, leather and Italian marble, Veneto seduces patrons with its extensive cocktail menu and its savoury offerings from our chef.
Every entrée is presented tapas style. Our executive chef Tod Bosence has designed flavours that are unique yet complimentary, and that provide an engaging taste experience, ideal for sharing.
Veneto's bartenders, led by Simon Ogden, display their knowledge and passion with a classically inspired cocktail list. Fresh squeezed citrus, only top shelf spirits and exacting techniques.
Veneto offers its patrons a small but significant wine selection, both by bottle and by the glass. We specialize in North American Craft beer as well as boast the largest selection of bourbons in the city.

Veneto Tapa Lounge - Hotel Rialto Ratings and Reviews
Went to Veneto for happy hour and the service was excellent. The place was quite busy but our server was friendly, attentive and professional. The drinks and appies were a great price and the food was quite tasty. Loved those wings. Would definitely return!
We really love going here for food and drinks. The small plates and charcuterie boards are always amazing and exactly how we like to dine. We always sit at the bar and enjoy the service from the bartenders. They are very creative, knowledgeable talented. We’ve tried other similar spots around downtown and we always end up coming back here!
My friends and I always enjoy our cocktail and appy nights at Veneto. The staff are always friendly and the food and drinks are delicious. We rarely choose to go anywhere else as Veneto is always consistent with their food, drinks, service and creativity! My only critique is their dessert menu, not at par with the rest of the menu
Went prior to a show at the theatre. Unfortunately it took almost 25 minutes to gets our cocktails after ordering. The tapas were good once they came. The second round of drinks took long as well. This was my fourth time to Venetos and it has noticeably slipped. Overall getting drinks very slow, limited wine selection food still good but less to choose from. It's a convenient location to the theatre which is good and still a good spot of an afterwork cocktail but not somewhere I'd go for a nice dinner.
Birthday treat for my husband. This was our first visit. The staff were so helpful and attentive. We had our 18 year old with us and didn't know about the age restriction but the staff were really super and accommodating. Great food and a fun place. Will definitely be back!
Veneto Tapa Lounge is a perfect place to meet for drinks and tapas. Service is excellent and their their tapas are tasty, with some offered at 1/2 price during happy hour. The house margarita was particularly good! Our server for the evening was helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. We took her recommendations for food and drinks and were glad that we did. I would certainly recommend Venetos.
Attentive service, interesting cocktails and decent tapas. However, the decor in the seated lounge area at the back completely deflated the ambiance of the whole experience. Too Dark, way to much beige/brown and no use of color to pop the room. The room looks like it was previously the hotel's breakfast area and received a (cheap) makeover. A serious reno is in order for this space. Until then, this establishment unfortunately doesn't live up to the "hip" ambiance that it's trying to achieve.
We showed up at 5:30, ordered a few Happy Hour apps and some drinks, then ordered some mains. When we got the bill, we were charged full price for the happy hour appetizers. I was there on a date, and didn't want to seem like a cheapskate and cause a fuss over an extra $20-30. Food was good.
Sorry, I didn't think this restaurant was going to be very good, so I didn't take any pictures. This is a great little restaurant / Bar. We didn't have dinner reservations on Canada Day, so we grabbed a spot at the bar for dinner. We ordered the Duck Poutine, the calamari, and the Crispy Risotto Arancini. The food was excellent. Who would have thought, this level of food at a tapas restaurant...in a hotel lobby. The Duck Poutine was to die for. They have a huge drink menu and 14 beers on tap. This was a great find. Hope you love it as much as we did.
We were able to get a last minute reservation on Canada Day so expectations were not very high. However the food (and service) far exceeded our expectations. A wide variety of items to choose although they tend to favour "spicy" items. Very generous portions at fair prices.
I booked the day before as I had eaten there several times during my 6 day stay in Rialto, HOWEVER on entering Venetos I nearly walked out as I was given an inferior table and treated inn abrupt patronising manner by the young, up herself, lady who served me, particularly when I told her of my allergy. Fortunately an approach to the young man who seemed to be the manager rectified the situation and he changed me to a better table. The food was as good as on the previous occasions I dined there but the Friday night staff were not as good or as much fun, or as personable as those who had served me during the week.
We choose to stay at the Rialto for many reasons- it's central, we can walk Victoria, it's a great hotel- and we can eat downstairs and enjoy cocktails without having to drive after. Also, the liquor store is fun, we will often visit to look for sometimes local and unusual products. The combination of the hotel, the restaurant and the liquor store beats all others hands down.
