Vejigante Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We have been waiting for a place like this! Caribbean food, specifically Puerto Rican food, is our absolute favorite and after visiting the island 5 times, we know authentic. This is authentic. This is delicious. I’m so happy we found this treasure and strongly encourage everyone to try.
A friend’s family was affected terribly by the recent hurricane. I got people together, and we collected donations for his family to help with funeral costs and repairs. The staff were incredibly wonderful as always. I eat there all the time, and I think last night’s chicharrones were the best ever. This restaurant is a huge asset to the Boston dining scene. It’s fun, a good value, and the food is great. I have a crazy number of food allergies, including the things that are pretty common in Puerto Rican cuisine, and they are always so accommodating.
We honestly had a really bad experience, the device was extremely slow. They took more han ten minutes to come greet us, did not refill our water, or offer to bring us another cocktail. We ordered three appetizers and two came the last one never did, when we asked the waiter her response was "you still want it? I mean, your food is on the way" once the food arrived, it was okay, tasted pretty dry as if it had been reheated in the microwave. On of the plates we ordered was a paella, once my mom pretty much finished half of her meal, we found a small plastic bag melted in the rice (where they probably put the portions of the paella clams and shrimp) they waitress apologized, but honestly that just just made my stomach turn (we literally just ate plastic) no one ever came by to refill water or ask if everything was okay.
I rated the restaurant 3 stars for service of the hostess. She was not very personable. Our table was not ready. We were told to wait by the bar. Bar area is small and you are in the way of wait staff coming in and out of the kitchen. The waitress that we had was very good.
Amazing, tasty food. love the cocktails, especially the Tamarind Martini (tamarindo) and the passion fruit sangria was so delicious. The appetizers, yuca frita (fried cassava), and the ceviche OMG super good. The fried chicken was juicy and tende, the pork tender were very moistered and juicyr. Everything was delicious.
Thank you for the good food,
The Fearnley-Rodriguez Family
Second time visiting Vejigantes and I love it there. I gave 2 stars for the food because the Mofongo sampler was not fresh. The plantains were either under-cooked or the mofongo may have been sitting to long as the dish was not hot. Couldn't been a bad night for mofongo but you only get 1 first impression. Other than that it is a great place
Waitress put in the order on two of our meals. We didn't make a big deal about it because we didn't want to wait longer for the food to come back out. Food took long to come out and when some of it came out it was cold. Waitress will disappear for long periods of time without checking on the table.
Food was perfect! The waitress was very nice and attentive. Loved the tamarindo frozen margarita. Prices are not bad, but they serve a really good portion of food. Only complaint is it was really really hot inside and I couldn't concentrate on what to order cause I was too busy trying to cool myself. Spaces in between the tables are too small to go through. Food took a little long, but it was kind of busy so I can understand, but the food was soo good that I'll drive over an hour again to visit!
super slow service considering it was a late Saturday afternoon (around 3pm). Ordered relatively quickly as we checked the menu online and waited 45-50minutes for our food. We sat outside since the restaurant was hot and was relatively left alone on an island. No water refills. Service was lacking but the food was decent. The service will probably keep me from coming back.
We loved our first visit to Vejigantes! The service was a bit slow, considering the restaurant was not packed. Our waitress was nice and friendly. The food, of course, did not disappoint! El mofongo y alcapurrias fueron deliciosos y la salsa picante - perfecto! We will definitely be back to try different dishes. Buen provecho!
This is truly one of my favorite restaurants. I get delivery from them often, but sometimes it's nice to go into the restaurant. On this particular occasion, the song "Despacito" came on, and people of various ethnicities were all singing. The staff are always very nice. I have food allergies, including coconut, and a sodium restriction, which can make eating Puerto Rican food pretty challenging. They have always been accommodating.
The value is good, too. They could maybe use a little updating of the wine list, but otherwise I have no complaints.
I do love their food and I think their service is good. They can do a better job with music.
This time however, they did not have any of the two desserts that I asked for (surprising, knowing that you should expect a lot of clients on a day before a holiday...) and also for the second time they told me that their coffee maker was broken: a Puerto Rican restaurant without a back up coffee maker?
Vejigantes is a piece of the island in Boston's south end. The food resembles much of what we normally eat back home and the prices although a bit high don't bother me whatsoever. I mean what are u gonna do? Eat a burger? This place is one of my favorites and I can't get enough of it!
