Located in Philadelphias Center City neighborhood, Vedge serves vegan food with global influences. Every meal at the restaurant is prepared without any animal products. Vedge also has a full bar with beer, wine and spirits, as well as a drink menu full of inventive cocktails.
Try the salt roasted beets or the stuffed avocado to start out your meal at Vedge. Choose from entres like the seared maitake mushrooms or the eggplant braciole. Despite the lack of animal products on the menu, the restaurant has a meal item for every appetite. Top off your experience with a dessert like the figgy cheesecake or the trail mix.
As a 30-year vegetarian, I can say this is hands-down some of the best vegan food I've ever had (equal to its predecessor restaurant Horizon, which was created by the same couple). But at over $100 for two people, it is profoundly disappointing to leave the restaurant and be hungry 2 hours later, because that's how small the portions are!
I'm 5'2", spouse is 5'5" -- both average weight -- and he woke up in the middle of the night with hunger pains! I can't imagine how average- or even large-sized people could feel satisfied with these food portions.
It's also so unnecessary. Some of the entries are super rich and need to be taken in small portions, but why not, for example, provide a big steaming bowl of the pea leaves instead of 8 spoons' worth? It had one delicious but very lonely sliver of tofu in the whole pot; why not dish out 8 of them? This was true for so many of the dishes.
We didn't order any drinks or any alcohol, and only one desert, and our bill still came to $110 (+ $20 tip). No matter how delicious the food was, we probably won't be coming back. This makes us both very melancholy! This restaurant is a great example to meat-eaters that healthy vegan food truly can delight the senses, but it communicates the sad message that we have the appetites of a bird!
Exquisite evening -- this is a top-of-the-line restaurant
Had read about Vedge and decided to try when we were in Phillie for a wedding. Was the BEST!!! We were lucky enough to have the most delightful and knowledgable server and the food was simply outstanding...Creative, unexpected, beautifully presented and delicious! The next day we went to V-Street for brunch and loved that, as well!
My sister's first visit to Philly, really wanted to eat here and was not disappointed! Best healthy vegan food ever!
Food very small portions of tasty quality fare but....
Noise levels above reason with no attempts in decor to soften acoustics, and that's with ample empty tables.
Service sullen and completely incorrect. Pleasant bar service but reception, food runners and server sullen and unwilling to assist first time guest navigate menu. Encountering a section labeled "Dirt" may lead to questions, ya think?
Nine dishes delivered for 3 diners, and none were presented to person ordering. Dropped plates and ran off. Don't expect a check back.
If you want to pay big bucks for lousy attitude, be unable to hear your companions to enjoy nibbles of vegetables, try Whole Foods.
The food was perfect and the small plates were timed nicely. The waiter was well informed and articulate. The busboys were invaluable.
This was our second meal at Vedge and was again a revelatory experience. The chefs are wizards at making the most extraordinary treats with humble ingredients. Rutabaga Fondue? Who would imagine, but after you lick the bowl clean you'll want to sit up like a dog and beg for more. Trust them. Whatever you order, it will be delicious and surprising.
Best restaurant, not just best vegan, but best food overall. Every bite is amazing and worth the price. This is a place I'd visit once a season, to get the most of the current season's menu and produce. Definitely a must-go!
This was my first time to Vedge. I had wanted to go for a while, and it definitely lived up to expectations. The food was fantastic. I'm a vegetarian, but my husband is a picky omnivore, and I was worried that he wouldn't like anything. My worries were unfounded as he loved the meal, and was talking about coming back before we even got to dessert! This is such a great place to get yummy vegan food, and we will definitely be back!
This place really needs no review as the 3 month waiting list for a Saturday night reservation can attest. The food is simply amazing. Only thing that could possibly need to be improved would be main course portion sizes.
Hands down the BEST restaurant in the country for vegan food. Presentation and flavors are amazing. Second time dining at Vedge when visiting Philadelphia. I am not a vegan but absolutely delicious food! HIGHLY recommended!
We have been to Vedge long ago but was always seated in the ante-room/ lounge, even when we had reservations. At that time, service not so great, felt "forgotten" so did not return for years.
THIS TIME I had a group of four and we were seated in one of the main dining rooms. A much improved experience. Waitress was very attentive and helpful. Food was wonderful! If you go, try to sit in the main seating areas!
Amazing experience in vegetable heaven!
Our server was very helpful and attentive. The menu was interesting. The choices were interesting. There were 3 of us and we shared our meals. All were done well and very tasty.
Wonderful service, wonderful food, and delicious wine. Enjoyed every bite and every moment!
The food, presentation, and atmosphere at Vedge were incredible. It was even more special thinking about what the food was made of - all vegetables (with some fruit in the dessert)! We cannot wait to go again.
One of the best vegan places I have ever eaten at!!! I just wish it was closer to where we live.
I get tired of saying the same thing... food was fantastic, service was fantastic, ambiance was ....
You get the picture!
Vedge is an amazing Vegan restaurant. I am not a Vegan, but I rate it as highly as any great non- Vegan restaurant. The food is terrific and perfectly spiced, the servers are friendly and completely attentive to your needs, and the cocktails are great as well.
We chose Vedge for the vegetarian menu primarily. The non veggies in the group enjoyed it as much as the veggies! The food was tasty and creative and the restaurant was upbeat and pleasant. We would definitely eat there again when we visit the area. It is clearly a well loved venue!
extraordinary! food is all of highest quality and the creative genius in each dish just jumps out at you. One of the finest meals I've experienced ever
Delicious! Some favorites from this meal: Stuffed avocado, roasted maitake mushroom, cheesecake, and ultra (?) chunk
i heard they have changed to using reserve instead of opentable, which is unfortunate
Wonderful, from start to finish! One of us is vegan; one is not -- we both loved the meal. The food was creative, beautiful, and delicious; and the service was flawless. Great drinks, great atmosphere.
The lentils and pole bean salad were so tasty that I am still thinking about it. My husband and I like everything we tried including desert. Menu changes with the season so it is nice to see what will be coming up.
Vedge is my favorite restaurant anywhere. The food is beyond description, the ambience is warm and comfortable and the waitstaff is perfect.
Excellent experience from start to finish!
I'm not a vegan, but enjoyed the taste of the numerous unique components of each course
The amount of food much less than expected but great taste and felt "full" after meal.
very noisey....one might even say too noisey. if you need more characters, here they are xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
This was a dining experience! Puts the vegetables in the spotlight. A great place for a cozy night out. Went with a group of 5 and we were able to try most things on the menu and there was not one thing that I was disappointed with or would have changed. I would go back in a heartbeat!
Wonderful food, service and atmosphere! You don't even need to be vegan to appreciate this spectacular food. The rutabaga fondue is to die for and the broccoli rabe with pickled turnips was out of this world! We also had 2 delicious and unusual mushroom dishes. Thank you Vedge!!
We make a big deal about birthdays in my family, so finding the right dining spot is very important. Vedge lived up to the reviews. We are not vegetarians, but eat meatless at least 4 days a week. Starting with the avocado appetizer, to the eggplant entree, we were "wowed" with our selections. Dessert was a good, not great, but it didn't diminish our overall dining experience. We will return to Vedge and bring our veggie NY friends without a doubt.
everything was absolutely stunning and exceeded expectations, this places totally lives up to the immense hype it gets.
As always, my family and I had a wonderful time at Vedge! For meat-lovers, there's no missing the meat at this vegetarian restaurant. The veggies are prepared so well and everything is incredibly delicious. On the plus side, I have NEVER left Vedge feeling uncomfortably stuffed - ALWAYS leave feeling happy, light, clean and satisfied! Cruel free, foodie-worthy, and beautifully presented food in a sparkling, fun setting!
Fantastic outstanding words can't describe the food was unbelievable
Service, food and friendliness were outstanding! Can't wait to go back!
We had a "meatausaurus" in our small group who was pleased, quite pleased with the selections the server suggested. I can't say enough greatness about the service on top of excellent savory food choices.
Excellent food, company and ambiance
wonderful chef creativity, not seen anywhere else. Manipulation of veggies in very curious, interesting ways.
I went with my daughter, who is vegan, we had a wonderful experience. Service was great. Our server took the time to explain different items on the menu and when our food came. I honestly can't say one item was my favorite, we lived everything we ordered!! Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert, so maybe next time. Highly recommend.
