Vaso Azzurro Ratings and Reviews
Good food and service but too loud...was expecting a nice white table cloth Italian restaurant where you could have a nice conversation in a somewhat quiet setting. Unfortunately the noise was the first thing I noticed and it detracted from the overall experience.
Vaso Azzurro is my favorite restaurant in South Bay by far. Not only is their food spectacular and so good for those that are gluten free, but there is so much to this restaurant. The owners are always there and interacting with guests, the vibe is energetic and entertaining in the best way, and the wine list is spectacular.
If you're there at the right time, one of the managers serenades the guests and he has a spectacular voice. The first time we heard it we thought the speakers were just turned up really loud, but it was him singing. The entire staff seems to have wonderful voices and sings to you on your birthday. I believe it's on weekends that they have a live band come play and it's quite enjoyable.
This restaurant is the best. If you haven't been, you're missing out.
We have eaten several times at this restaurant, and it has always been pleasant and the food
fairly good. When friends wanted to dine out together, we chose Vaso Azzuro for them to try.
This visit was not up to par. The greeter was a different person this time, more interested in visiting family than dealing with the two valid questions we had.
1) Could we be moved to a table less in the draft from the open front door? It was a fairly chilly night, and as the rear door to the restaurant was also open, we were sitting in a wind tunnel!
2) Could you find us a more quiet table? The answer was no, when it was clearly a possibility.
We were left feeling like we were a nuisance, versus regular customers.
Will not go back.
Our first time here and loved it! We will definitely be back. Service was warm and reliable. Food was awesome. We ordered the seafood pasta (linguine azzuro) which had great marinara sauce and fresh seafood. Lasagne also wonderful. Desserts with tartufo and tiramisu spectacular too. we went on Sunday night and the place was packed.
The restaurant had a good location, downtown Mt. View, including sidewalk dining tables. It was a pleasant atmosphere, with live music on Saturday night. The food was good, I had a delicious penne pasta dish with chicken and veggies, husband had a tortellini with sun-dried tomatoes and a cream sauce. We shared an avocado salad which was tasty and I had a glass of chardonnay.
That being said, the service was not stellar. We were a party of 4, and they added an automatic gratuity!! They did let us use an Entertainment Book coupon ( 1 entree free) so maybe that had something to with it, but that has never been our experience before in any other restaurant. We ordered an appetizer, which never arrived. It was not included in the bill fortunately, but when we mentioned this to the waiter, he just said, "Oh, sorry." They did not check back with us after our food arrived, to see if we needed anything else.
The manager did come speak with us and defended the policy of an automatic gratuity, said it had nothing to do with the waiter. What, 18 or 20% gratuity whether the service deserved it or not, and for a party of 4??
All in all, nice enough place, but the service was lacking. Probably will not go back.
We arrived at Vaso Azzurro about 6:30 on a weekday last week, and the restaurant was not busy.
First, the table bread served was stale, tough, and appeared burned on the top.
Then, a waiter came up to our table, introduced himself as our server, described the special dinners, and never returned. Another waiter took our order, and he never returned to our table.
One member of our party ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca, which was described on the menu as a chicken breast served on a “Bed of Penne Pasta”. However, the item served was a mixture of chopped chicken and penne pasta in a salty sauce devoid of any flavors described in menu….very disappointing.
Another member of our party ordered Scaloppine de Pollo, which was served with a thick, salty brown sauce that had no resemblance to the “Demi -Glace Sauce” stated in the menu.
In summary, our dinner was disappointing – poor service, mediocre food. We will not return to Vaso Azzurro.
A really pretty restaurant, brightly lit for lunch with sunlight and table easily combined to fit larger groups. We had avocado salads and the eggplant appetizers, about $8 each and delicious. Considering it was completely empty the waiter was still much too slow (distracted on his phone), but the food arrived quickly and the staff were very nice. They have live music some eveings so I will definitely be back.
I have been to Vaso Azzuro a few times now and it continues to be fantastic. Excellent service and food...you really can't go wrong on the menu. Restaurant ambiance is causal, but sophisticated. A great choice for a date or business encounter. Price is about what I expected from a mid-level Italian restaurant. A date for two with drinks and desert will cost about $75 with tip.
I have been to this restaurant two times and the food has been very good. My only complaint was that the waiter on my last visit was not very attentive. The restaurant was not busy but he kept chatting with this one customer who came by himself and kind of ignored us.
Traveled all over the world and now reside part time here in Mountain View and can honestly say what a wonderful find. Took some friends here and the evening was wonderful, complete with great food, extremely attentive staff and we were also treated live music and Italian "Operatic" style singing by one of the larger than life partners. Fabulous Night! Will be back soon!
The Menu had a lot of choices. Our group of four friends was served right away...which was important as we were attending the Theater and needed to not hurry with our meal and enjoy it The food was excellent. The noise level was , as you say, very energetic. The service was very accommodating. The overall experience was enjoyable and we will certainly chose this restaurant again.
Have been to this restaurant many times, going back longer than 7 years. Have always liked it
very much and the owners and service people are the best! Courteous, cooperative, but best of all the food is always consistently good. Even if you want something other than is offered with
one of the dishes, they will change something for you if they have it.
My wife and I decided to try lunch here as we have only been here for dinners. Service was a little slow and the delivery of food was slower. We both decided to try different Paninis and one presented as a club sandwich (chicken) and the onher as open faced (crab). However, they were very tasty. No wine today but the Italian sodas are very good.
Not to put people off, we will always go back for dinner!
The food was nothing to write home about. Our waiter was actually excellent, but the owner was so rude. He wouldn't close the door even though it was cold for me and my baby on Mother's Day! Then he blamed me for not saying I had a baby in my party. I give him ZERO stars for rude service and not putting the customer first.
