Lovely food and the live music was so wonderful. Loved it and I’ll be back.
Our waiter, Mason, was excellent!
This is officially my new favorite restaurant. It is so good. My husband got the flat iron steak and he was so impressed with how perfect it was cooked. Everything was delicious.
Excellent service
Good selection very good
Tenderloin superb
Excellent locally owned restaurant. The menu will please just about any taste, prices are very reasonable and the food is always very good and consistent. The music trio makes for a festive and lively atmosphere and service is always top notch!
Daughter and I came for dessert after suffering through an incredibly disappointing dinner at Ostra (I know Ostra receives off the chart reviews, but all I can say is yuk). Anyway, on a more positive note, we had bread pudding and French toast at Varanese and they were amazing! I finished my French toast. Remarkable because I never finish my dessert. We celebrated my daughter’s birthday at Varanese last December and loved our meals - it’s one restaurant that I’m adding to my local go to list.
Quite possibly the best meal I've ever had! The food was amazing.
Salad was dry and bread pudding was dry
The food was excellent. My wife and I used to go here all the time but it fell out of our rotation of restaurants - we realized we missed it and It will be put back in. I just wish the parking was not such a mess.
Great food, location, service and value. Will eat there again soon.
Best restaurant in Louisville in combined terms of food quality, ambiance, value, and service. 5 stars for sure!
Absolutely fabulous food, drink and service. It was like being back in Paris again. A rare find in the back streets of Louisville.
The appertizera and entrees were really good. The wagyu steak was the best steak I had ever had before. The side we’re also really good!
Consistently great! Our go to place for special occasions.
We had a great visit to Varanese. The pork chop was amazing and the service was wonderful.
Food was great as always and it’s one of the places we like to go celebrate big events at. It was my wife’s birthday and we have hardly gotten out to eat in a year because of the pandemic. We finally venture out for this special occasion and the restaurant is PACKED. Although our table had good distancing from tables next to us, place was entirely too crowded with the pandemic still going on. No way it meets all the cdc requirements. There was standing room only at the front and a table of 12 people in the middle. Made us very nervous and uncomfortable the entire meal, with a small room and people screaming over the music - so much so that we almost left as soon as we got there. Very disappointed in their lack of Covid awareness from the large number of people inside.
Music was a bit loud
Wow, this place was so good! Wish I would have come here sooner. All the food was delicious! Will definitely be back.
Excellent food great service
Although we were told that high top seating was not available during our dinner time slot, Varanese personnel did their very best and found us a table near the bar. The restaurant was beautiful, from the water wall to the bar setup, there was nothing to complain about the setting. The cocktail and daiquiri was amazing! The food was delicious. I forgot to remove some of the ingredients from my girlfriend’s Angel Hair Pasta and the server replaced the plate fairly quickly and we were very satisfied with the entire dining experience. Thank you, Varanese for the lovely evening. Will be back in the future for more of your Lobster Mac and Cheese
Love Varanese. Probably our favorite restaurant in Louisville. But, we’ve not been in a while due to the pandemic. Our issue this trip was the number of people and closeness of the tables during C-19. I’m sure they are within guidelines but it didn’t feel like it. Likely wait until the vaccine is more prevalent before going back. But looking forward to it.
Overall great experience however I had some food missing when boxed
The food was amazing!! The service is excellent and our waitress made some great suggestions that we were very pleased with. Will definitely make this one of regular stops.
Excellent food and service
First time. Food was excellent, well cooked and well presented. Staff was courteous and waited us well. I could take or leave the music.
My girlfriend and I went for our Valentines dinner. It was everything we expected and more. I would recommend the lamb shank.
The choice of salmon and cream cheese grits came with sauteed mixed zucchini and squash.
The salmon was very good. A little on the sweet side for me with perfectly crisp salted skin. The grits had a strong cream cheese. While separate, not my favorite, together they balanced and complimented each other perfectly.
The service was perfect. Friendly, attentive but not intrusive.
I would recommend you try Varanase.
Overall, we'd give it 4.5/5 stars. While almost all staff were very attentive, even the manager was making the rounds, our waitress had to be reminded to bring something ordered. The waitress also never once asked if we'd like any other drinks after we clearly had finished the first round. Outside of that, every step of the dining experience was wonderful!
Food and service were fantastic. Appetizer to dessert, everything was great. Great atmosphere and service.
Pork was unevenly cooked and incredibly dry... The appetizer plater was good but overpriced compared to the amount of food you got. We reported a vent that was hanging on my just one screw over a customer's head and as of the time we left, nothing had been done about it.
Outstanding food and service. Thank You !!
Varenese can always be a safe choice for a classic date night or special occasion, however in my opinion there are better more niche restaurants if you’d prefer Italian or just simply a fancy night out.
Made reservations for Valentine's Day. We were seated right away. Servers were great on getting apps, water, drinks, etc. Food came out pretty quickly. Excellent prime rib steak. Fried brussels sprouts are excellent also.
It was great food was amazing. We will definitely b going back.
5 stars isnt really enough. Every part of our experience was exceptional. Mason was our server and he did a great job tending to us. My fiance is still talking about it which made our valentines day 1 to remember. This will definitely become a regular for us.
Such a wonderful spot with a great menu selection and we always enjoy the musicians. We had excellent service, the food was fresh and delicious! Look forward to our next visit!
Amazing food! Absolutely delicious.
Know before you go that parking is limited so you will most likely have to park on the street and walk a bit.
Service was top notch.
The building itself is a little run down but they’ve done a good job making it look nice.
As always, Varanese didn't disappoint. A great Valentines Day atmosphere with amazing eats. You can dress up and not feel over dressed, or dress in jeans and not feel under dressed. It really is just the perfect spot for any occasion.
Food was mediocre. Expected more. Very disappointing
My significant other ad I had reservations at 8:15 on Valentine’s night. We had to wait 30 min. Other than that and no place to sit to wait we had a very nice evening.
