Great menu, excellent service, live dinner music-exceptional dining experience.
Calamari was over cooked. Breadsticks simply are not good-sorry.
But salmon was really good
I am so happy to see it operating at 100 percent capacity, as it should have always been. We drive over an hour to eat here. The food is excellent. The service is great. Will be back next month.
Very nice restaurant.
One of the top atmospheres to have a meal at.
Great Father’s Day brunch. Food is always consistently good. This is our favorite restaurant in town.
Great night! Bar seating was perfect, nice size bar top tables are roomy and plenty big enough for 4 people. Service was great, food and drinks were as well.
We had a table by the music and we couldn’t hear each other! Maybe we should have asked for a different table? Service was slow.
We had the Cod and the Yellowtail. It wasn't as good as others we have had. The sides were excellent, but the fish did not impress. Love the Soft Jazz with the meal.
We were celebrating our daughter’s 19th birthday and Varanese is one of our “go to” restaurants. Our server, Mackenzie, was fantastic and she covered every detail from splitting our meals (some shared) to having the band play the birthday song. Our food came out promptly and cooked to perfection! The night would have been perfect except the noise level was so loud that it made it difficult for us to talk to each other. We love Varanese and will definitely go back!
Excellent food and our server, Erika was amazing as always!
Varanese NEVER disappoints. Love this place!
Usually love the food at this restaurant but last night was not good. Two of us had Hamachi fish, it was a gray color and had zero taste. It was certainly overcooked. Another person had pork tenderloin which was a very generous portion but very over cooked also accompanied by purple slaw that tasted like nothing. Hoping this was just an off night as we like Varnasi. The manager came to our table and ask about our food and immediately adjusted our bill. Our service was excellent. Will try them again sometime.
We went at 5 on a Fri. night. For the first half hour, it was quiet. As the restaurant filled up, the noise level increased accordingly. Be warned, it can get very loud.
We sat in the bar. Great service and they seemed to have a well staffed serving crew, which to date, some restaurants don't have. We were glad to see it. Management is very attuned to service.
I had a special of the night, pork loin over white bean and bacon cassoulet with purple cabbage slaw. The slaw and the beans had more taste than the loin (which, there was a lot of, btw). My husband had the beef tips and tortellini, which he thought was good. We had a BLT salad. It said it was smoky bacon and it had a definite smoke flavor to it. It was okay. We had a Reuben dip appetizer and it was very good!
LOVE this restaurant! Food and service is always fabulous. The atmosphere is even better!!! One of my favs in Louisville!
Excellent food & service & one of the better values in Louisville.
Sat at table facing bar & was quite loud but that could be blamed
on a loud mouth lady at the bar.
Enjoyed the evening at this restaurant. Food and price were very good. Will dine here again.
This was our first time visiting. Our waitress Courtney was excellent. We will return again. My strip steak was cooked to order and my wife's salmon was also . Everything is priced just right.
This was a dinner to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary.
We dine here often....including our post-wedding dinner for 30 that was accomplished beautifully.
Service was great. Tuna dish was OK but nothing special. They need to update the entertainment unless they are going for the 70+ demographic.
A little pricey perhaps, but you get what you pay for, they say. The service was flawless and not overpowering. One suggestion: the wine list was short on details like vintage year. We almost ordered a Pinot Noir on the wine list from a wine maker that produces several different variations. The Veranese list had no indication. Still, no big deal. We had a great time and enjoyed each course. Cocktails were delicious, too.
Very elegant but casual atmosphere. Food was absolutely delicious! We ordered salmon with the cream cheese grits and the strip steak with brussel sprouts and garlic whipped potatoes. Everything was absolutely delicious, but the brussel sprouts were the star of the show! We definitely will be back.
Great food and great service.
Special evening with our Pastor. Looking forward to our usual nice evening but was seated next to the bar and the noise level was extremely loud. I was told that it was a bourbon experience evening but was told they would put us at
A table that we could talk. Kate was our server she was great! Disappointed.
Our waiter was outstanding. Took very good care of us without being overbearing. Also had a very impressive wine list.
We enjoyed our dinner for five people. The menu was great and the food matched our expectations. Great! We loved the music too.
We frequent Varanese as one of our favorite, go to restaurants. Fairly consistent and reasonably priced.
One of our favorite go-to's!
Love it every time - the food is always great and the service is wonderful!
Food and service were excellent. Atmosphere was lively, but even with a full room and a jazz duo playing overall volume was moderate.
Kristina was our bartender and gave wonderful service! Food was amazing….please put that duck breast with risotto on the menu permanently. Sooooooo delicious!
Definitely underwhelmed by our experience. Had Varanese on our list for a while and chose to spend our anniversary here. We were told they were short-staffed (so take everything else with that factored in). It took almost 90 minutes for us to get our entrees, and they weren’t bad but salty. I ordered a bourbon flight in which one of the three wasn’t available. They decided to serve it with another bourbon even though I would have chosen a different flight if made aware one was missing. They brought out a small plate dessert which we thought was nice but later found out they charged us full price for it without making us aware or asking us if we wanted it (we would have ordered a different dessert)—overall just a blah experience.
Everything about Naranese is outstanding. The food was fantastic, the service impeccable, and the 2 piece band was an unexpected bonus.
Great meal for a reasonable price. We will definitely return for future celebrations.
Jesse is the best! He is engaging, knowledgeable, and attentive. Jesse, along with the excellence duck and NY strip steak, made for a memorable dining experience.
We went to Varanese to try it out, since we have booked it for a rehearsal dinner later this year. The food was delicious!! Beautifully plated and generous in portions. Our server was a rockstar, answering all my questions! So glad we picked Varanese!!
Varanese is my favorite restaurant ever! It’s a very charming atmosphere with great food and excellent service! If you haven’t been here...you should go now!
Delicious food, especially the salmon. Great service. Great everything.
Our server Evan was great and we had a fabulous meal with our friends. Love this place!
One of our favorites!!! Food is always excellent. Love the live music.
