Excellent food. Good service given crowded evening.
My husband I celebrated my birthday on a Saturday evening. We enjoyed the food and the live band. Our server was fantastic! I wish I had left room for dessert. We can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.
Both fish dishes were fabulous! The fried Brussel sprouts are a must try!
We were given a better table in a side room. Much quieter and more intimate. Service was excellent and so was the food. It was a very enjoyable experience. Thank you.
My wife and I love to come here for date night dinners. While good, this visit was probably our least favorite - the room we were placed into felt a little too cramped (one too many tables) and while good the food was slightly disappointing compared to normal (possibly because we always enjoy the specials and none of these really seemed up our alley). Still highly recommend though overall.
Excellent salad (goat cheese) and soup. Great service!
Great time with friends
Always a great experience with food, music and service. Server Nicole did an excellent job. Love coming here for special occasions.
We’ve been to Varanese several times and have always been satisfied. The food and service are both amazing.
Wonderful food and service. Our server was very attentive and took care of every need. Enjoyed the musician trio also.
Great dinner experience. Great ambiance and great food!
Varanese is our favorite Louisville restaurant. We have never had a bad experience. The atmosphere is perfect for either a casual dinner or special occasion. The service is consistently great. We love their menu- something for everyone. Always a vegetarian option. We highly recommend is restaurant.
My favorite restaurant in Louisville! Food, music, and prices are excellent.
Wonderful dining experience. Exceptional food, good ambiance, great atmosphere.
Had a wonderful evening! I had the best swordfish that I’ve had in a long while! Great service and atmosphere.
Wife always what’s to go there for her birthday so we go. By the way I really like Veranese myself so no problem here.
Absolutely spectacular from all angles. The service was incredible; very attentive and friendly. We were celebrating a birthday and our table had rose petals on it when we arrived. The bourbon flights were excellent; perfect size and great value for the price. The appetizer special of meatballs melted in your mouth and was great to split between two. Our entrees had the exact amount of food to fill us happily with no left overs. Our server brought out a birthday dessert sampling with some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had; it’s homemade! Highly recommend for any date night, intimate occasion or celebration. 5 stars all around!
Hi...just wanted to let you know about my experience as a first time customer. I ordered a chardonnay, bartenders choice, not too oaky and one more fruity. I was told that the bartender said no chardonnay is fruity but the unoaked should be ok. I ordered the shrimp and grits. It was great except for the bits of sand. Then mocha creme brulee for dessert which was really chocolate mousse. Kind of a disappointment honestly. Worse part was when I messaged them...no response...though I could see they read it. Just wow...
We were visiting for the weekend. Baroness was recommended by a friend and it certainly did not disappoint. Drinks were awesome, food was delicious and the renovated service station made for a great atmosphere.
I ordered the salmon dish and it was not served hot. Maybe it was prepared before the other dishes at my table so it got cold. Disappointing. The service was slow but the waiter was nice.
Overall rating -2 1/2. For me personally, the over all atmosphere and experience did not live up to expectations.
Great restaurant, one of our favorites. Nice atmosphere, food is well prepared, normally a jazz duo or trio. The menu can sometimes be a little short.
Nick was great to us and the live music was amazing. Great night!
My dates steak was undercooked and my steak was tough.
Wife’s birthday, her cousin’s birthday, and seeing her aunt in 2 years, great starters; beer battered curls and hummus plate,
Two of the bourbon salmon, one salad and one flank steak
Wished the grits with salmon was a bit warmer
The food was delicious, service was outstanding and our table was decorated with rose petals for our anniversary. It was a wonderful experience, we will be returning
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed our evening. Mostly quiet as it was a slow night. Our meal was very good which we totally enjoyed. The service was exceptional. We would recommend without hesitation.
Amazing as always! Great specials, great service. Love the craft cocktails. I have never been disappointed.
Our waitress was less than knowledgable about ingredients and did not seem to want to check until pushed. She seemed to think it was not her job to know the ingredients. On the special there were substitutions to the sides that were not communicated until we asked about it- and they were disappointing changes. The bright light was good quality cocktails and a nice live band.
Our server, Jordan, was exceptional. The food was delicious. And we always enjoy hearing the Jeff Sherman trio.
We visited for an anniversary dinner while attending the Breeders cup. Perfect evening!
We had eaten here previously and reserved a table for six, seated promptly. Noticed the noise level was very loud even though they had put padded pieces on the walls. We sat for 30 minutes before we had any service and the rest of the dinner continued in the same manner, endless waits for service and for food. We were finally served desert and coffee after 11pm. The whole experience was less than satisfactory. Fortunately we were in pleasant company. I will not be going back again nor would I recommend it any longer
Wonderful in all, food, service, ambiance trio playing music very nice attentive staff.
Very good mussels and shrimp/ grits, for me. My husband loved his ribs.
Wonderful desserts presented for our birthdays — Bravo.
We were very disappointed in our experience at Varanese this past Monday night. There were a number items that left us disappointed. These include ordering the Rib Eye special to be told the restaurant only had 5 steaks and the table behind us ordered them ... this was at 6:30 at night ... how do you run out of one of the day's specials that early. Secondly, the tables were so close, that patrons and waitresses could not reach everyone at our table. There was another room right behind us with plenty of open tables, but no one was being seated there. Thirdly, the music is a very nice touch, but much too loud for this small of a room. We ended up having to raise our voices in order to be heard across the table. Fourthly, I ordered the special Red Snapper, instead of the ribeye, and it was so dry and tasteless. I left it on my plate and explained to the waitress how bad it was. No apologies, etc. I would suggest looking at one of the other many restaurants in the area when choosing a dinner spot in Louisville.
This restaurant never disappoints!
The food and service were stellar. The worst thing that could be said is that it was slightly loud in the restaurant but that was only from people enjoying themselves. The price point was less than I anticipated so was I even happier when the check came. Great value for your money.
Chef Erik and GM David Alken do a fantastic job with great atmosphere and wonderful food. Danielle was our server and took excellent care of us and watched every detail
60th Birthday. Food was amazing and Jen was a great server!
