About Vallozzi's Pittsburgh

Family owned and operated for over 50 years, following in the footsteps of Vallozzi's Classic Restaurant in Greensburg, PA. We use fresh, quality ingredients, as well as Italian meats cheeses flown in from Italy every week. Our wine list is extensive, with many wines available by the glass and by the bottle. We can host your intimate date, family dinner, business meetings, or larger parties in our banquet room. Or come enjoy a specially made cocktail in our bar area and a small bite.

Vallozzi's started over 50 years ago when Helen Vallozzi was selling homemade pastas out of her home. Helen opened a take out restaurant in Latrobe, PA a few years later where her popularity exploded. In 1977, Ernie Vallozzi moved his mothers location to Greensburg where it is still open and operating today. In 2012 Ernie's son Julian expanded the tradition in to downtown Pittsburgh.

Came for a birthday. Food was pretty good, tasted more homemade than gourmet (which I wasn’t expecting based on the ambiance). Server was nice but could have been more attentive. We also sat in a corner, which was strange considering it was late and there was barely anyone there (this also bothered us about the service not being more attentive). You also couldn’t see who was coming around the corner when, which tended to be a bit unsettling.

My favorite part about the restaurant was how it looked more than anything. No other area (service, food, value) might be enough to bring me back considering there are plenty other Opentable restaurants various places downtown.

The mozzarella bar dish was delicious. Our dinners were really delicious as well. I usually get the crab cakes and decided to go with the Risotto this time. Dessert was super hot!

We had dinner on Jan 2, 2018. The restaurant and bar were very quiet. We sat in the bar. It has the same food menu as the restaurant. Very few patrons that night. Service was very good.

Vallozzi's is one of our favorite places to dine in downtown Pittsburgh. We were pleasantly surprised to receive the same exceptional quality and service on NYE. A special thank you to our server, Louis, who graciously moved us to a more intimate table, after two large parties were seated nearby. The Shrimp Diavolo was amazing. But as Louis warned, very spicy. Looking forward to returning!

My husband and I had an early New Years Eve dinner at Vallozzi's. You had to order off a special NYE menu which apparently contained offerings from their regular menu. It was busy but service was good and our server took good care of us. We split an order of arancini as an appetizer and were surprised that we got 5 huge rice balls for $11. They were absolutely delicious, as were our salads. I had the parma with crispy bits of prosciutto, oh my goodness. My husband had the shrimp diavolo which he loved but was very spicy, and I had the branzino with yummy crispy skin. We shared a piece of caramel bread pudding for dessert which was seriously the best we ever had. Usually bread pudding has liquor or something weird added but every bite of this was perfect, caramelly heaven. It was the perfect dinner to end 2017!

Very nice atmosphere. Food was delicious. We especially liked the Burrata and olive appetizer. Shrimp Diavolo is excellent-very spicy. My husband also really liked the seafood over risotto. We’ll definitely go back!

Food was good but much higher priced for what we ate. Have had similar fare at better price range. Restaurant was very loud, hard to hold a normal conversation level. OK if you are trying to impress clients.

My husband and I came here after seeing The Nutcracker. I had a few appetizers and he had the veal parmigiana. All good. The bread served with ricotta is a neat change we both enjoyed that. We split the bread pudding. If we weren’t so full we would’ve ordered another one!!!

The owner was screaming in the kitchen so loud and nasty at employees ....it made me nervous. It was inappropriate behavior. we were celebrating our son's engagement and it was to be a special relaxing celebration, not so much relaxing due to over hearing this argument. Place is too expensive for this unprofessionalism to be in front of customers.
it was very disrespectful to the customers...plus the so called boss noticed I saw him screaming and he never came over and apologize , he just ignored us !

Food was ok and overpriced, management was slow to deal simple requests, waitress was ok, multiple mistakes, veal was like it was frozen and heated, I most admit the pasta and sauce was the best I ever tasted? But Experience was poor

The food was great and plentiful!
The waiter was very efficient when we arrived, but as more people were seated we saw less and less of him. It was a very busy evening, but he seemed to spend much time at two tables...leaving us unattended. We are not demanding people, maybe they were!
The ABSOLUTE WORST aspect of this restaurant is that there is nothing there to deaden sound.
We could not hear each other speak, and left hoarse from shouting at each other.

Disappointing evening at Vallozzi. I was really looking forward to checking this place out, but the two person tables were practically on top of each other and the Osso Bucco was sub-par - super fatty and had very little flavor. For a $200 meal, I expected a higher quality meal.

The food and service is great, the layout of the restaurant not so good. The tables are arranged so that the tables face the wall, half of your party will be sitting 3 feet from the wall and staring at it through dinner. They should take a look at the new Eddie V's where the tables run parallel to the wall so no one is staring at it.

Food is tasty and portions are generous. For the ambiance and service quality, the place is a bit pricey. The bartender makes the best negrone’s in town.

We’ve had -a terrible experience there today. The hostess was rude, we wait for our table at the bar but no one told us when the table was ready & my pasta was VERY spicy. I asked to change it, but not much was done. My husband and I do not recommend this place.

This was our third visit. The food and service are a cut above their peer restaurants. The prices are pretty high but I am guessing their rent is high too. Great restaurant!

My husband and I were visiting Pittsburgh and were thrilled with our meal at Vallozzis. The branzino was wonderfully moist and delicious. My husband had the raviolo and was equally happy. The restaurant entrance was decorated for the holidays and very inviting. Wine selection was extensive. A very special place to dine in Pittsburgh !!

We have been to Vallozzi's on 2-3 other occasions and the food was outstanding,. This visit was disappointing. Hubby had the bolognaise pasta and he said it was very ordinary. My fish however was good. When hubby asked for salt and pepper waitress brought 2 pepper shakers.

Food is always good here, the service was off this particular night. Although the waiter was very friendly and attentive, the level of service and presentation was off. Awkward getting seated, fresh parmesan was sprayed all over the table when served and felt a bit rushed. There was one table where a woman was loud and using obscenities (not the restaurants fault). But from the last time where everything was first class (and the pricing suggests everything should be), this time left me wanting.
