Service was slow - Food was “warm”
This was only one of a few sit-down places we could find on a Saturday for lunch downtown. It was a lovely, refined but comfortable restaurant perfect for our adult get together. We all enjoyed the fresh take on Italian classics. Our service was amazing—best I’ve had at any restaurant in a long time. We truly enjoyed ourselves.
Service was excellent and the food was delicious. My daughter's salmon came out very undercooked twice though. We switched her meal to pasta which was delicious but she only got about two bites in before we had to leave for the theater. Other than that, it was a good experience.
I have to say, that was the best salmon I've ever had! Amazing! Loved the ambience, though the music didn't seem to match the space. Our waiter was super attentive and easily accommodated all the requests our large group gave him. 5 stars!
First time to Valozzi's. I knew that they had another location in a nearby town, but was not aware of the downtown Pittsburgh location. Food was really good. Homemade cellos. Great deserts including my favorite bread pudding. Nice wine list from reasonable to extravagant. Will visit again. Ashley was a great server.
Celebrated my birthday with family at Vallozi's. This was our second time there. The first time, I got the raviolo, which was delicious, and my husband got the shrimp diavolo pasta, even more delicious. The calamari was also a hit - perfectly fried with plenty of marinara. The service was streamlined and friendly, and the ambiance of the restaurant is great. Can't wait to get back!
From the moment we entered we felt welcomed and comfortable. Jordan, Jen Jim and Alan were friendly and accomendating.
Great experience for our international colleagues.
Always worth the drive from Niagara Falls NY , great food drinks and service best ossobucco I’ve had
Food was very good, the menu was smaller than I anticipated.
We had dinner in the bar. Service was very good. Food was good.
Overall, a pleasant experience. We arrived at 5:45 on a Saturday evening and were finished at 7:15. We had drinks, salads, main course, dessert and coffee. Our waitress was friendly and answered a few questions we had about the menu. She visited our table at regular intervals, and our water glasses were filled as appropriate. The ambiance was business-y but not stuffy, and as the restaurant began to fill up, the noise level grew substantial, though not overwhelming. It seemd a good place to go for a mildly upscale dining experience, and for that I would recommend it.
Service was ridiculously slow. Tables on both sides were seated after us and meals were completed and received their checks before we got our entrees which were all barely warm....more room temperature.
Waitstaff was very friendly not overbearing. Love you seafood risotto!!!
Excellent food, very warm & welcoming ambiance, pleasing decor, food quality & presentation was exquisite, service was pleasurable, would highly recommend to others & return!
Valentines Day. Was a real nice evening. Great service.
Valentines Day dinner
Crab cakes are the best in town! The root vegetable salad was fabulous, and even better eaten warmed in a skillet for breakfast the next day! Waitress Ashley was wonderful ...as always. And don't miss their signature break pudding with rum sauce. Get just one to share! Fabulous!
Everything from the service to the drinks to the food was outstanding. We look forward to returning to try more of the menu. Come hungry.
My wife, daughter, and I wanted to find a nice Italian restaurant for a night out while we were visiting my daughter at college. We found the menu to have something for everyone's tastes and the food was really well prepared and tasted amazing. My wife had the swordfish and said it may have been the best swordfish she had ever eaten. The service was also excellent.
My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at Vallozzi's Pittsburgh very much. The server was attentive and the atmosphere was comfortable, but the food was the star of the evening. I had Pappardelle Bolognese and would recommend it to anyone who desires richly flavored comfort food. The portion was ample and the taste memorable. My wife had Veal Parmesan. Unfortunately, it was over cooked. The breading was very dark and tasted scorched and the veal was tough. However, the pasta and marinara sauce that accompanied the veal was wonderful. I liked Vallozzi's red sauce. We really didn't have room in our stomachs for desert, but we had it anyhow. The cheese cake of the day was Key Lime. Key Lime anything is a favorite and it was very tasty. However, the bread pudding is to die for.
This was our first visit to Vallozi's Pittsburgh. We'll be back and we highly recommend that you visit too. Avoid the veal. Go for the Bolognese and top it off with the bread pudding.
Atmosphere is very pretty and relaxing however there was a large table that was very loud at times which made it difficult to hear conversation at my table. Otherwise everything was very good!
Food was spectacular, service was phenomenal, atmosphere was peaceful. This is my new favorite!
Great food and staff, love this place!!
Everyone (6 people) visiting from out of town all of whom totally enjoyed all aspects of dining experience. Will return again.
It’s always a wonderful experience dining at Vallozzi’s! The food is consistently delicious and the service is always on point. A beautiful atmosphere, seasonally decorated gives your lunch, dinner, meeting or party a lovely setting. I would highly recommended a visit! The passion for quality cuisine and customer service is seen throughout this family owned and operated establishment, located in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh, it is a true asset to our city!
Saturday night reservations for 7:30pm. We were ‘helped’ by 3 different employees at the hostess booth and were finally seated 25 minutes after our reservation time. Every time
We inquired about our table, they told us it was being cleared. They were apparently finishing with a theater crowd when we arrived, thus the delay. We ordered the calamari and shoshito peppers. Calamari was tender, but a little salty. Two of us ordered the cheese ravioli topped with short rib. The short rib topping the ravioli was ok, tasted a bit like it had been prepared in advance and maybe frozen. Veal Parmesan & a papperadelle dish were the two other entrees. Our friends enjoyed them. The green side salad was fresh and lightly dressed. The bacon (?) crumbles were plentiful but extra crispy. Dessert was tiramisu and flourless chocolate cake. Both were ok. The food was...ok, maybe my review is skewed by the poor service we experienced upon arrival. If you’re busy, communicate that to me. Don’t keep telling me the table is being cleared and then walk away only to come back and seat folks who have just walked in. Service is such an important part of dining out.
The restaurant was more crowded than I have ever seen it so it was a little noisy. However, we still got great service . The food was really good as usual. My only complaint is that my ravioli wasn't quite hot enough for me. Valozzi's is still one of my favorite restaurants and I look forward to dining there again soon!
Food was good, but not outstanding...service was excellent!
Food was delicious but the service was kind of slow. It was the lunch hour but not too crowded.
The best restaurant in town. The staff is friendly and flexible . I have never ordered an entree from the menu they are always happy to take requests and I have always been pleased with the result. We just returned from a trip to the bahamas and our seafood her was much better . Will return !
Very good wine list.
The homemade pasta (ravioli) was excellent, as was the seafood risotto we had.
Food was just not up to par on this visit. Not the best recipes on appetizer, soup and one of the entrees. Then two of the three dessert sorbets were inedible because they were rock hard!
This restaurant had good food and good service. It was not overly loud despite there being a good crowd of people there. My wife and I had a nice, quiet dinner and enjoyed our entrees and the relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends.
the food was excellent! the service just as good as the food. The wine superb. I love this place! The crab cakes are the best there is!
The food was very good, from the pastas to the steak and fish. Service was very slow considering the restaurant was not packed. We felt as though we were always keeping a lookout for our waitress to get a drink, as she wasn’t that attentive to our table of six. Not crazy about their sliced bread and dollop of ricotta, very bland.
I have Celiacs, and our waiter was very knowledgeable about what was GF on the menu. They also have a GF pasta available (it was little ziti) every night. I had the bolognese, it was great!
Pittsburgh Restaurant Week menu was great and the wine pairings were perfect. Our favorites were the meatballs, salmon and bread pudding!
Went here for another couple for restaurant week and loved the menu and the experience! I recommend the wine pairings with the meal. We had such a great time!
