Vallozzi's started over 50 years ago when Helen Vallozzi was selling homemade pastas out of her home. Helen opened a take out restaurant in Latrobe, PA a few years later where her popularity exploded. In 1977, Ernie Vallozzi moved his mothers location to Greensburg where it is still open and operating today. In 2012 Ernie's son Julian expanded the tradition in to downtown Pittsburgh.
Excellent food! Great service!
The four course lunch was so delicious and our server made a great recommendation of the polenta with sausage ragout. One of my four courses came out a little cold, but otherwise the meal was wonderful!
This was our second visit. Our first visit was pretty much the same. Cheese bar, Apps and soups were great-as well as the deserts.
Both our entrees (Bronzino and Veal parm) were terrible. If we weren't very hungry and on a schedule I would have sent them back.
Awesome food and service. Nice Amerone recommendation too... highly recommended
Always reliable. Food and service are excellent. The location is a little inconvenient, with expensive valet parking.
Our family's favorite place to dine in Pittsburgh. The food is outstanding and the service is second to none. Valet parking is perfect right in front of Vallozzi's. Start you dinner with a great wine from an extensive wine list - if you can't decide as Alan the General Manager for assistance. Alan is one of the most knowledgeable wine experts in Pittsburgh and will tell the story behind your choice of wine. The food is exceptional with a great menu with pastas that are homemade onsite - we have never been disappointed. We are blessed to enjoy a great relationship with our server - Jen. She is simply the best and has a through knowledge of the menu and always steers us in the right direction. Overall a top choice in Pittsburgh for a nice quiet dinner or experience the wine room in the cellar for a unique small group event. We can't wait for our next visit!
It was my first time there I went with my brother who goes quite often and I was not disappointed, I will return soon. The polenta was outstanding!
This being the third time we've eaten there, we expected the same if not a better experience. The food was not good... the Chicken Romano was so overly salted with artichoke brine that it was not eatable, the fish on my plate was barely detectable and the tiramisu hadn't a hint of being Italian. The wine was average at best (servers suggestion).
Vallozzi's is one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. The food and service are consistently top notch. Our party had different entrees. The crab cakes are still great. The pappardelle bolognese was rich and flavorful and the scallops tender and delicious. The parma salad and the classic caesar dressings were the perfect way to get the meal started. I can't remember our servers name but her number was #2 P. She was perfectly attentive and made sure we were on time to make our show performance start time. I have never been disappointed in Vallozzi's. Can't wait to go back!
Great meal, great service -- I love this place! The homemade pasta is amazing; the veal parmigiana and chicken romano were each quite generous portions; and I'm still thinking about how delicious my parma salad was. The waiter selected an awesome wine for me based on my preferences. Everything was perfect. Can't wait to go back!
Great food and service. Soft lighting and nice space between tables lending to excellent atmosphere. We will definitely return
We went to Vallozzi’s when we visited Pittsburgh in October, came back to visit again and Vallozzi’s was so good we went back again! Love this place!
Pre concert dinner
Great food, interesting options on menu great wine list
The food was very delicious and wait staff were prompt, friendly and efficient.
Some of the meals are delicious, but others like the linguini I got, are lacking in flavor. Therefore, I was disappointed in the quality of the meal for the price.
Service atmosphere and food or excellent. The bread pudding is a must have for dessert!
Unfortunately did not enjoy the food. Had the Bronzino and it was swimming in very vinegary broth. Did not have time to wait for a remake. The cauliflower soup was excellent. The waitress was excellent.
Traveling from Boston to Pittsburgh
I've been to Valozzi's twice. First time was a great experience. Food was tasty and cooked to my liking. Second time the swordfish was dry and the veggies hard as a rock. Very slow service second time as well. However, the waiter was great!
Menu and service everything was great. Favorite spot in the city
Everything was very nice. Service was great. Wine was great and met the description and expectations set
A bit disappointed in the veal Saltimbocca. It was not traditional and even though new creations are great they missed the mark on this one. Other dishes ordered were delicious.
Valentine’s Day menu was very limited and there was no option to order from the full menu. Food was delayed coming out, no option for bread before meal. Was sat extremely close to other couples
Vallozzi’s continues to serve the best Italian dishes reminiscent of our travels in Italy. Our Valentines Day dinner of veal saltenbuco and pappardelle with duck ragout were exceptional and the Sangiovese Chianti was excellent. Definitely we will return.
Excellent bar service. Great food and good service. Lovely surprise dessert for our birthday celebration. I will be back.
We went there to celebrate a birthday over lunch. Price was a little high for what we got but the meatball hoagie and flatbread pizzas are delicious.
Great location. Awesome people and food. Ambiance excellent.
Food was under seasoned and visually unappealing. Food was not hot when it was served. It is never good when you ask for salt and pepper to be brought to the table and everyone uses it numerous times throughout the meal. Service was inattentive, our waitress never came back to ask how our meal was. This subpar meal was regrettably expensive, we will not dine here again.
All was really going well, then a table of eleven showed up, and we could no longer carry out a conversation. That large a group would be better for everyone to be put into a separate room. Our waitress was excellent and so was the food.
Service was pretty slow, and unfortunately our food (we got a variety) seemed overall unseasoned. Our waiter was very attentive for our drinks but didn’t come back to check on food. It’s a little pricey, however the portions are quite large so it makes up for it.
I got the seafood risotto... unfortunately the shrimp and lobster was over cooked and the risotto itself lacking in seasoning. Scallops were cooked to perfection. If you take home the risotto and want to spice it up, add some tomato paste, garlic, chili powder, & S/P. 10/10.
Food and wine were very good and service was excellent. We will definitely come back for another enjoyable dining experience!
We ate in the bar. Service was very good and food was excelllent
The Veal Parmesan was delicious and a very generous portion
The homemade pastas are wonderful
The atmosphere fun and enjoyable
Great food. Will be back
Very slow service. Fortunately a manager noted how slow and covered our beverages.
Vallozzi's had a fantastic atmosphere. The crowd there was both dressed up and casual and the decor was both comfortable and fancy. Our waitress was helpful and attentive, and the food was delicious. There were a lot of choices on the menu, but not so many that it was overwhelming. If you love Italian, you will enjoy eating here, but if Italian is not your cuisine, there are other options that looked like they would taste delicious as well.
Went to Vallozzi's before seeing Hamilton and we enjoyed ourselves. The meals were very good and service was good. The wine list was extensive but very expensive. Nice atmosphere, we struck up a conversation with the people seated next to us.
Always reliable Italian cuisine. We enjoy both of their locations.
Awesome restaurant, loved the food and service!
