Since it opened in late 2013, Vallone's has quickly become one of Houston's top lunch, dinner, and happy hour destinations.
Tony Vallone's Americana-inspired menu features some of his favorite dishes from the American culinary tradition, from French Onion Soup and the "Tex" — two cheese enchiladas served with a center-cut filet — to Baked Alaska and housemade Cotton Candy (even the vanilla wafers for his banana pudding are baked in-house).
Of course, Tony's signature pastas and the 55-day-aged steaks are also stars of the show in his cozy, fireplace-lit dining room.

Vallone's Ratings and Reviews
We've been here several times. This is one of the very rare occasions where they brought us inappropriately cooked food. I had ordered the simply grilled snapper. Under cooked - probably more appropriately, barely even on the grill. They immediately took it back, once we were able to get someones attention and profusely apologized and brought me another snapper cooked wonderfully. They even brought me an appetizer sized ravioli in the meantime. We really enjoy Vallon's, will be back again. Just an an usual day for them.
First time to visit this restaurant and am very impressed with the overall experience. Top notch service allows this establishment to be "special date" type celebration. The presentation of the food, the service, atmosphere, were all fantastic for my first visit. We will certainly be paying this location another visit very soon.
Vallone’s was overall outstanding. We went for New Years dinner with our 2 year old (early reservation) and got seated in a large booth which was great. NYE had a pre fixe menu which made the dinner pricier but we were able to try more food and everything was very very good. We dine out a lot and I’ve been out a lot for work travel and this is one of the better restaurants in Houston if not anywhere I’ve been.
Christmas Eve dinner. Restaurant required credit card to hold reservation. Got seated at a table in the bar right next to the door. Really disappointed I had to give a credit card to sit with my family in the bar. I wouldn't even say I was in the restaurant.
Although a little pricey, it’s usually a great experience,. However, this time I was really annoyed when they came to deliver my dinner when I was not done with my salad. Major pet peeve of mine. If I wanted to be rushed out of a restaurant, I would go to Olive Garden.
Been to V on quite a few occasions(10-12 over last 3-4 years). Went on Christmas Eve and it was not up to par. Took the family to have a nice meal. My $60 steak was sent back twice. Waiter forgot multiple items and had to be asked to bring. Very disappointed with meal and service and won’t go back. Unfortunate as when it opened it seemed to be at the height of its presence. Gone down hill every time since. They called 3 times to get a credit card for the reservation and they weren’t even booked this evening. Bush league and not consistent with a top restaurant I expect better and Houston offers those options. We will just have to venture out a bit farther for our next special meal.
Came here with my wife for our 9 year wedding anniversary. I put on the reservation the reason for the occasion. When we arrived the hostess asked for my name for the reservation and said alright, this way please. We went to the dining area where we were seated at a table in the middle of the room. She asked if we would like wine and cocktail menus, we said yes. We sat down, and a very nice man came by immediately and took our drink order. He asked “did you want regular water?” And we looked puzzled at each other, and my wife said “what other kind is there?” He said, oh, I can bring you bottled or sparkling if you’d like. We said regular was fine. He asked what the occasion was, he said oh, happy anniversary! In a very sincere tone. He took our cocktail order. We got our water, we got our drinks and then we waited 12 minutes for someone to show up again. We asked if we could get menus, and the waiter said “of course” as it to say “all you had to do was ask” and that’s what we did. We then waited another 8 minutes for him to bring them to us. He came by 2 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order. We were not because we had had our menus for 1/10th the amount of time we had been there. We did ask for bread, to which he replied it was already on its way (we have been sitting for 20 minutes at this point).
Side bar- The place was a ghost town, each server had 1-2 tables, and there were more empty tables than there were occupied tables. People were wearing cargo shorts and t-shirts. My wife and I were dressed up and felt out of place.
After we needed a little time to look at the menus, the waiter waited 12 minutes to come back for our order. I ordered the filet medallions with Oscar sauce, and my wife ordered Fettucine Alfredo, because she didn’t trust the steak at a place that has service this bad. My medallions were not even close to worth the $40 I paid for them. Her dinner was good, and that’s the single silver lining to the absolutely horrific service.
Every time I go here I have something different and it’s always good! This visit was the Tex and wow!! The filet was amazing, but the cheese enchilladas...A M A Z I N G! I am born and raised Houstonian and thought I have had some pretty good chili gravy in my lifetime, but this was the best I have ever had. I wanted to get some to go! :)
I would also recommend the fried green tomatoes with crab, the French Market salad and chicken fried steak!
There happy hour is very good too. Nice selection of nibbles and beverages
We went there to celebrate my son's college graduation. We had been there before and they had the warm spinach salad that they fix at the table-side on the menu and really liked it. It was not on the menu this night but they didn't hesitate to make it for us. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. They even brought us their cotton candy with a sparkler as a dessert to celebrate without us requesting it. I love this place for celebrations.
Superb service and quality worth the trip. Scott Sulma and Tony Vallone make this place a great experience. It’s a great steakhouse, but Really it’s much more than that. All of the connective things bring it together to make it a gourmet experience. The Decour is inspiring, love the Crescent booths, the art and the attentive servers. Old world charm with new world accoutrements
Vallone’s made a special effort to seat us in front of the fireplace as they knew we were celebrating our anniversary. Service was good but would have appreciated receiving a menu before the wine list. Food was cooked just right and Vallone’s Old Fashioned looked good and tasted better. Price is justified for special occasion or business celebration but not an everyday meal.
We have been to Vallone's many times. Each time is outstanding. This time, not so much. The steak was not as tender as before; it was a bit dry. I requested it to be medium, which it was. However, perhaps there is a different distributor used for the steaks. I don't know. ? I was disappointed by the steak. The enchiladas were not impressive at all, either. The brussell sprouts, however, were amazing! They are addictive! The twice baked potato was good. The service was perfect! The hostess was a bit rude. We arrived to find that a couple was waiting to be seated. I held back, to be polite. There was no hostess for a few minutes, so we were all awkwardly standing at the entrance. The couple walked off. (I am guessing they found their party.) A young girl (mid 20s) entered after we did. The hostess re-appeared and totally ignored us. The girl stepped ahead of me (rude), and she acknowledged the girl. I am guessing she knew her because she very quickly commented on her appearance, saying that she looked good. It then looked like she was going to take her ahead of us, so I stepped forward to tell her that we had reservations. She ended up taking us to our seat, but her demeanor was not at all warm or welcoming. (I suppose she thought taking care of her friend, who had come into the restaurant after everyone else was more important than taking care of restaurant guests that had been waiting.) I ended up smiling at her, and she responded with a half-smile. But, that was not a good start to our evening. She was very rude, and her friend lacked manners as well when it comes to waiting your turn. I will say that she was nicer when we left. She smiled, genuinely, and she was nice at that point. We will try Vallone's again, but I hope it is back to being as great as it was upon our past earlier visits.
The overall experience was great but the dining room was way too bright to be as romantic as it could have been. The waiter brought the wrong side dish, which was twice as expensive as the one I ordered. I brought it to his attention but he did not adjust the the price on my bill. By bill was $300 so the $12 was not a deal breaker but right is right.
East coast oysters as a starter $15 for 6 is a very fair price. Served with a nice mignonette and cocktail sauce. Made at the table Caesar Salad was outstanding. Request for extra Parmesan was hand grated over the salad. Nice! Steaks are dry aged and very flavor-able.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. The service was exceptional with great food and wine. The wine selection was good with a range of prices to select the perfect bottle of wine.
The picture below is of Baked Alaska and it was superb!
My wife's view is that this restaurant was easily one of the finest she has experienced. She expresses her opinion and I repeat it here. Her entre, Steak Diane, was prepared table side. In her view, the beef and the sides were perfect.
My entre was halibut topped with seafood. The side dish was very good but the entre was disappointing.
Bananas Foster, again prepared table side was quite good.
Overall, my recommendation for others is without doubt the service. From the Mater D to the valet, the staff was attentive and personable.
