Food was fine, not great. Loved the service and the comfortable ambiance. Would definitely go again.
Fabulous as always! The food, the service and the portions are alwAys consistent. It is our “go to” place
The Valley Inn is beginning to be our go to restaurant. The food is delicious. My wife ordered the special short ribs and she (who is an expert) said it was outstanding. I had the duck with the cherry sauce. The duck was prepared perfectly, crisp on the outside, but not dry on the inside. Also, the dish was not drenching in sauce. More of a hint which complements the duck. Great!
The staff from owner to bus boy are top rate and very accommodating. Love this restaurant.
Food service was uneven, not everything came at once, waitress did not seem very happy.
Old, classic vibe. Menu had something for everyone but be warned that if going for the fried chicken to pre-order it. Chelsea, our waitress, was wonderful.
This is like my 10 th visit
Best restaurant in the valley!
Sophia and Borris are the sweetest people
The corned beef and cabbage was superb. Crowded but pleasant and quick service. Love the Valley Inn.
Our Server was Lilly, Just Perfect in every way. The Food was Fabulous, Love this Restaurant just like the old days, which aren't many left, Thank You for making this Day Special. Warm Wishes Daniel and Kathy Poloski
For the above list I I would say all.
Most important: we had a great time in this reliable neighborhood haunt.
Overpriced but delicious.
Celebrating a family member's achievement with a special dinner. Very good food, excellent service by Vicki Joe, a dining room that was comfortably quiet on this particular Monday night for conversation. Looking forward to the next time too at this old-Hollywood style restaurant.
Very tasty food with good, friendly service.
This is a perfect restaurant location for those of us who live on the west side but have good friends in the valley. We've been there in the past and glad we thought of it again. It is always good food, nice people, and cozy. The parking is easy and so is freeway access. We celebrated a birthday and all enjoyed their food and drinks.
The restaurant felt really good. It was warm and inviting, the service was excellent and the food good.
Sorry to say that this venerable old establishment missed the mark so widely. Had a nice lunch a few months back and that prompted me to try dinner. The place was packed on a Sunday night. There was no one at the front desk and we had to ultimately figure out what to do. This was met with waiter/waitress understaffing. We were "accidentally" found at our table by one well-meaning waitress and eventually served. The drinks were fine. The rack of lamb was good. The salmon was tasteless and WAY overcooked, and the mashed potatoes had spice which does not belong and for which I was not warned. We were told that the chef was absent, perhaps attending a movie with the front desk person. I'd say that this location, which has been around for 70 years, could stand a little energy, a little care, and a little more into the wait staff so they dont seem so hassled and sour, as well as inattentive.
Know the Owners. Great menu and service. Nice friendly neighborhood Restaurant.
Had great fried chicken dinner. Nice waitstaff and friendly management.
It is Old Valley dining at its best or worst depending on what you like. It’s old and musty, looks like it hasn’t been upgraded in years. Lots of old celeb photos on the walls. They were running behind, and seemed to take some regulars who had no reservation ahead of us. The food is uninspired and mostly disguised by being buried in some kind of gravy. The vegetables were unadorned and undercooked. The wine selection is bargain basement level. People like it because it’s familiar and traditional I suppose. It won’t kill you, but at those prices it should be more thoughtfully considered.
I go there often and it's a nice place to eat and visit. They do not rush you.
Enjoyed it! Food snd Service was good.
I was at this restaurant with my wife for Valentine's day. The service of the waitress along with food and atmosphere were outstanding.
A very fine and friendly restaurant in the old style of the 50s. I liked the 50s.
Wonderful as always. Hope you are feeling better Sofia, we missed you
This is a perfect place for a date, special occasion, business, lunch or dinner. It’s small, intimate and a neighborhood Gem. Food is outstanding. Generous portions. Great prices. Salad is included ( the blue cheese dressing is delicious), chicken, steak even hamburgers are great. They have a very small and intimate martini bar. Parking is on the street. If you go once you’ll come back for years...guaranteed!
Absolutely delicious strip steak and filet. The flourless chocolate cake was to die for. This is one of our favorite places to dine!
Very much enjoyed our experience here. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We will definitely make this a regular place on our list! The filet and prime rib were really good, the twice baked potatoes were also.
You won't find better hosts or wait staff. Boris, Sophia, and the gang are the best!
Our server started off perfectly but after a while she had an attitude when the prime rib ordered rare came well done. She said I ordered rare but they gave me well done.
Her bad attitude continued through the rest of the dinner.
I would not recommend this restaurant for food . The drinks in the bar were great and the bartender was a lot of fun.
We eat here often. Any time we have brought guests they have raved about the food, atmosphere and service. Boris and Sophie are delightful as a host team.
I enjoy the walnut crusted chicken, the ahi dinner, hamburgers, steaks and their lunch-time French dip sandwich.
Portions are generous, and drinks are strong.
This restaurant has a classic feel to it with romantic lighting deep booths, tablecloths, oil paintings and an old-fashioned bar. It's a step back in time when dining out laws an elegant, special experience. However elegant, you may still dress casually (business casual) and feel comfortable. It attracts people of all ages.
I used to eat at The Valley Inn all the time, but quite a few years ago I had one or two bad meals and stopped going. It was a convenient place to meet a friend for drinks and I was pleasantly surprised. We ate the bar food and the food, drinks and bartender were really great. I've now been back several times and have eaten in both the main dining room and the bar. I'm happy to have a new/old place to go to for drinks and dinner that is easy access for both the valley and the west side.
Always consistent food and service. Very warm and comfortable and hospitable
I did not mention in reservation request that I wanted to sit in main dining room. We were seated in a side room alone with no ambiance. The service was excellent. Food good. I had the ribs and they were as good as I remember.
Always easy to go to and is a local favorite. A hideaway in the city of Encino. Easy to park - no valet. Old school dining. My family and friends love it here.
Hard to tell which is older, the food offerings or the clientele.
For some reason they were short-staffed. Nevertheless, our waitress went out of her way to make everyone happy. The food is good, but overpriced. There is nothing novel on the menu. This place is the typical photos of celebs on the wall. There is only street parking and not a lot of that.
Thank you. It was very good
From the warm and welcoming smile of the Owners to all the servers, we were treated to excellent service, fantastic drinks, and mouthwatering food (although pricey). Seating is comfortable. Only thing missing is background music. Old Standards would be a nice touch. Looking forward to returning soon.
This is a neighborhood gem. Simply good food, fair priced and consistent. Small, intimate and also has a couple of banquet rooms too. The martini bar is quite small— tiny. Cute in that it is “old fashioned” and that is also what makes it special. My husband had their famous broiled chicken . It comes with a voice of soup or salad. I had a chicken breast coated in Parmesan cheese with a mushroom, artichoke, tomato topping that was truly yummy! Also had a choice of soup or salad. The sides are actually FRESH veggies, mashed potato. I think that anything you’d have there you’d enjoy. Street parking.
Tuesday was maybe my 5th visit to this restaurant. Have been living in Sherman Oaks for 5 years but had never heard of it. Friends took us there the first time and we have been going back ever since. It is a neighborhood gem that has been in business for a long time. It’s a family run restaurant and reminds me of what restaurants used to look like... red leather booths, dim lighting, professional waitresses who know what they’re doing and who are not waiting to be discovered. Sandra is my favorite. Food is consistently good. Good size menu to choose from. Their fried chicken is fabulous. They call it fried but it’s baked and really delish. Prime rib also good fresh shrimp cocktail also delish. Seems to be a favorite of celebs probably because it’s quiet and no one bothers them. Lily Tomlin was there Tuesday night and the time before that, Diane Keaton was at the booth across from us. Celebs aside, The Valley Inn and Martini Bar is a great place to have dinner. Nothing fancy, just really tasty and good. Great value for the money. Be warned... portions are big!
