Valley Inn Restaurant and Martini Bar Ratings and Reviews
We eat here often. Any time we have brought guests they have raved about the food, atmosphere and service. Boris and Sophie are delightful as a host team.
I enjoy the walnut crusted chicken, the ahi dinner, hamburgers, steaks and their lunch-time French dip sandwich.
Portions are generous, and drinks are strong.
This restaurant has a classic feel to it with romantic lighting deep booths, tablecloths, oil paintings and an old-fashioned bar. It's a step back in time when dining out laws an elegant, special experience. However elegant, you may still dress casually (business casual) and feel comfortable. It attracts people of all ages.
I used to eat at The Valley Inn all the time, but quite a few years ago I had one or two bad meals and stopped going. It was a convenient place to meet a friend for drinks and I was pleasantly surprised. We ate the bar food and the food, drinks and bartender were really great. I've now been back several times and have eaten in both the main dining room and the bar. I'm happy to have a new/old place to go to for drinks and dinner that is easy access for both the valley and the west side.
For some reason they were short-staffed. Nevertheless, our waitress went out of her way to make everyone happy. The food is good, but overpriced. There is nothing novel on the menu. This place is the typical photos of celebs on the wall. There is only street parking and not a lot of that.
From the warm and welcoming smile of the Owners to all the servers, we were treated to excellent service, fantastic drinks, and mouthwatering food (although pricey). Seating is comfortable. Only thing missing is background music. Old Standards would be a nice touch. Looking forward to returning soon.
This is a neighborhood gem. Simply good food, fair priced and consistent. Small, intimate and also has a couple of banquet rooms too. The martini bar is quite small— tiny. Cute in that it is “old fashioned” and that is also what makes it special. My husband had their famous broiled chicken . It comes with a voice of soup or salad. I had a chicken breast coated in Parmesan cheese with a mushroom, artichoke, tomato topping that was truly yummy! Also had a choice of soup or salad. The sides are actually FRESH veggies, mashed potato. I think that anything you’d have there you’d enjoy. Street parking.
Tuesday was maybe my 5th visit to this restaurant. Have been living in Sherman Oaks for 5 years but had never heard of it. Friends took us there the first time and we have been going back ever since. It is a neighborhood gem that has been in business for a long time. It’s a family run restaurant and reminds me of what restaurants used to look like... red leather booths, dim lighting, professional waitresses who know what they’re doing and who are not waiting to be discovered. Sandra is my favorite. Food is consistently good. Good size menu to choose from. Their fried chicken is fabulous. They call it fried but it’s baked and really delish. Prime rib also good fresh shrimp cocktail also delish. Seems to be a favorite of celebs probably because it’s quiet and no one bothers them. Lily Tomlin was there Tuesday night and the time before that, Diane Keaton was at the booth across from us. Celebs aside, The Valley Inn and Martini Bar is a great place to have dinner. Nothing fancy, just really tasty and good. Great value for the money. Be warned... portions are big!
The service and the martini were good. The prime rib tasted like it might have been cooked the day before. All food was bland. This place seems to attract an older, very casual crowd of regulars. Although I enjoy historic restaurants, and that's why I went, there wasn't much of a feeling of old style tradition and the decor could use an update.
Let me start by saying I always enjoy the Valley Inn. The food is great, good value and the service is always prompt and efficient. This particular lunch however we had a problem with my wife's hamburger. She asked for it medium rare and it came out medium. Sent it back and the replacement came out rare almost raw. Now I like a a rare burger so I swapped with her my cheesesteak sandwich even though if I wanted a burger i would have ordered one. Our waitress was very apologetic, even reduced the bill, but this is not the first time the kitchen cannot seem to get medium rare right when it comes to their burgers. This same circumstance has happened to us twice before as well. But when it is cooked right... it is a great burger. But the double error took away the special aspect of us having a date lunch and that was very disappointing.
We've eaten there so many times and never has it ever been this noisy. We no longer can take a chance going with another couple if we don't know if we will be able to hear one another. The food has always been good to very good. This time, both fish dishes (sand dabs and branzino) were very dry. The salads were fine, but one was not served as requested and had to be sent back. Whenever we needed anything the waitress was nowhere to be found. It was a disappointing experience.
I've been to Valley Inn several times, mostly because their fried chicken dinner is to die for!! This time was for the same reason, however the service was not great. We didn't see a server for at least 15 minutes after we sat down. That is truly my only gripe.
The bar is great and the food is very good.
This was not a very good experience! Service pretty bad, very amateur forget to serve my soup while my family had received there's My $50.00 steak had a cool temperature dry and no flavor. One choice of a white Italian wine $270 bad experience this is really a upscale diner
