Valley Inn Restaurant and Martini Bar
The food was good. The service was ok. The ambience was nice. It was a bit pricy for just ok. Not bad, might return. Nice people and a pleasant Valentines experience, other than the limited menu. But that probably should have been expected on Valentines Day.
My wife and I were really looking forward to a great Valentines dinner. We heard great things. On the positive side, very nice old world charm decor, the hostess was a delightful woman and the wait staff was also good. On the negative, the bartender virtually ignored us and there was only 4 people in the bar and the food quality was rather subpar.
Valentine’s Day special menu was fabulous. Best service ever. Friendly and warm greeting. Always a pleasure.
We had to ask 3 different times for our water glasses to be refilled. Waitress n others walked by often, but never bothered asking if all all ok.
Food portions are smaller than in recent past (we got prime rib n salmon).
Hostess more interested in sitting with others, Babysitting n playing with newborns n talking to them instead of helping out with tables
I love this place. The Old School vibe and the food is great!
Only one waitress for entire room, after going to this restaurant for over 30 years.. I may not go back
Very uncomfortable in front of all my friends, since I recommended the restaurant.
We have eaten at the Valley Inn often in the past and sadly, the quality seems to have decreased while the prices have gone through the roof! I had the prime rib ($38.00) which was mediocre at best (could have paid the same at Lawry's and gotten top quality meat...lesson learned). The service wasn't much better. I ordered the prime rib medium and it was served rare. I sent it back and it came back well-done...and without much taste. My wife was already eating (she enjoyed her chicken) and I chose to just go ahead and eat it so we could dine together. The mashed potatoes were bland, and the carrots were incredibly dry with absolutely no taste. Happily the dinner salad that came with the meal was excellent quality and the creamy garlic dressing was wonderful as always. As far as the ambience, it was incredibly noisy. With all the young children there, it was like eating in a day-care center (this was not the fault of the restaurant, but it made the dining experience extremely unpleasant. How sad that parents are so insensitive to other diners that they allow their children to act as if they're in a school yard). Sorry our experience wasn't as enjoyable as we remembered. We'll probably try again when the kids are in school!
Great Valley landmark, with lots of history. Really like the Walnut Crusted Chicken!
staff is great - friendly, efficient. ambience is cozy. great local hang-out.
Friendly and reliable. Great food.
The food and service is always excellent and a good value.
We left going to the Valley Inn. Good food, wonderful retro ambiance, relatively quiet so conversation is easy. Great for special occasions and out of town guests.
We went on Christmas day when not many restaurants were open. Limited menu (no problem), friendly service, right on time for our reservation.
Came here tonight for my husbands birthday. First time. Yes it’s Christmas Eve. But they’re not closed and chose to take our 8pm reservation. From the moment we arrived at 7pm to have a drink at the bar, the staff was angry we were there. The bartender barely wanted to serve us. Clearly wanted to be home with family. The server was terrible. Rude and disrespectful. When one of our meals arrived different than ordered, we asked for it to be fixed and were told that the chef already went home, nothing could be done. No dessert was available for us to order. Again, don’t begrudge anyone for wanting to be with their family for Christmas Eve, but don’t accept a reservation. These first timers won’t be back. Ever.
Dinner was great. I had the fried chicken, which was excellent. I would highly recommend this to everyone.
The restaurant is very old school. The servers have been there a long time. They may not be the most pleasant but are efficient.
I would recommend this place due to nostalgia and the food is still very good, after all of these years.
I have been coming to this restaurant for years, it's a neighborhood institution. The problem I have had lately was with the service. We waited 45minutes before getting our salad and I don't think there is any excuse for that. The food is always good but I find it annoying to have to wait so long for service. The problem was not just with our table, but also for those we could observe.
Chicken was a bit dry but asking for gravy helped. Mashed potatoes ok but appearance was average. Veggies the same. Needed more seasoning for plating appearance.
We arrived very early in the evening, 5:15 because we had show tickets in a different part of the City. We ordered about 5:30 and were only the third occupied table in the restaurant. As time passed we asked for our food several times but weren't served until 6:25, 55 minutes after ordering in the practically empty place. At this point we could only rush through a partial meal. The waitress said it was the kitchen's fault; the owner's wife said it was the waitress'. When we complained to the owner because they had ruined our dinner by taking so long, all he said was "I'm sorry, it's never happened before" and most nonsensically of all, asked if he could buy us dessert as if we had all the time in the world. A quality restaurant would have either bought us dinner since we had to rush out due to their mistakes or at least offered some small accommodation on the price. We really weren't looking for a break, but they should have offered something after ruining our meal and blaming two different parts of the staff. Very poor response to our situation. By the way, he roast beef was almost inedible because of the amount of fat in the cut, salmon was pretty good.
Nostalgic. Good food, good size portions. Great garlic bread. owners and servers not so friendly.
Owners do not make you feel terribly welcome. Wine list could be improved.
Nice atmosphere, food was good and server was Excellent
The food was perfectly prepared, and the service was especially good!
Had a lovely dinner. Waitress forgot my husbands rice
Great place, old world charm. Maybe a hostess didn't show up but no one was around the front to greet us and we standed around 10 min. As we left, a lot of old folks were milling about lobby and they also were saying "There's no one here to seat us." Hopefully just an anomaly.
Comfortable & good prime rib
Horribly understaffed while owners milled around and offered little assistance to wait staff except for pointing fingers where to go. They have been in business long enough to take orders or refill water or bread while overworked wait staff rushes and tries to meet everyone's needs.
Had a reservation at 7:00, two of my three party had arrived early and were seated. When I arrived they said no one had arrived, so they were waiting at the table, I was in the lobby for 20 minutes. They called the restaurant to check if I was in the lobby. We were jammed into a tiny, cramped table at the back of the restaurant, very uncomfortable for three people. Food was okay, not great for the price. Disappointed in this place, chaos in the lobby even if you had a reservation. AK
Fabulous as always! Service is perfect and attentive. God is yummy and portions are a nice size!
Last night I had the sesame seared ahi tuna with rice and ginger. It came with a salad. The tuna is some of the best I have ever eaten, and I enjoy sushi restaurants. It's better than I get in sushi restaurants. My husband had the sand dabs. We always enjoy our meals here. Servers are friendly and attentive. The martini has spoiled me. It is prepared exactly to my liking, and they do not spare the vodka.
We often have lunch here. The French dip beef sandwich is outstanding.
This is a restaurant with a vintage vibe.
I highly recommend The Valley Inn.
Very quiet on a Sunday night and no one sang happy birthday but the food was terrific !
had not been here in years and took a chance, a wonderful surprise with delicious food and great prices.
will be going back
I really liked this restaurant. My friends and I have gone often because the menu is diverse and the food is usually very good. This time, however, our server was just overworked. He had a party in the back of the restaurant and several tables to serve in our area. It took a long time to get our food and once we finally did, my food was cold and my sad dabs were soggy. I was disappointed.
Will I try this restaurant again? Probably yes because I don't think one bad experience overrides many good past experiences. But, I hope, things improve in the furture.
I have liked this restaurant in the past. It has really come down in my opinion. The special for the night was Beef Stroganoff...the meat was chewy/tough and very disappointing. The lobster bisque was mediocre, my wife's onion soup was very salty, and to top it all off, our waiter was a real jerk. We are not likely to return.
The ValleyInn has been around for about 60 years, and it is still a local favorite. The menu is extensive ranging from burgers to steaks and prime rib. The items are fairly priced and the entrees come with soup or salad.I especially like 2 of their chicken dishes: chicken romano, aparmesan coated breastless chicken, covered with various vegetables, including artichokes. The other is a walnut crusted chicken breast.
They have a wine list, but you can bring your oen wine for a $15 corkage fee. The bar serves great drinks; the bartenders are knowledgable and friendly. You can get a sense of the history of the Valley Inn by looking at the famous sports figures of bygone and current years. All in all, the Valley Inn is a great spot.
One thing to watch for: If you get seated with a server who is also serving a large party in the back, private room, ask to be moved, if possible, because you will have a long wait between ordering and getting your food.
It had been many years I had visited. Thought this would be an ideal location to treat a special client. The food was delicious and so was the martini. I will not wait years to return. Thank you.
Cool vibe at the bar and a great neighborhood hangout! Food is good and the Brussels sprouts are a stand out!! That’s about it.
Great dining experience as always! Management and staff courteous and friendly
Have been a customer for 20+years and it is the best restaurant to eat and visit with friends in an old time cozy atmosphere.
You can't go wrong with this classic Valley steakhouse. Great drinks at a great price, attentive barternders, terrific food, and owners Boris and Sophia make everyone feel like they're at Cheers. The chopped steak and burgers are fantastic, and so is the signature fried chicken - worth the wait! Grab a couple of friends and have a martini (or two) while catching your favorite game in the bar.
Slow service and very bland food.
Not for millennial. Old style steak house very good and very quiet.
