Great place, old world charm. Maybe a hostess didn't show up but no one was around the front to greet us and we standed around 10 min. As we left, a lot of old folks were milling about lobby and they also were saying "There's no one here to seat us." Hopefully just an anomaly.
Comfortable & good prime rib
Horribly understaffed while owners milled around and offered little assistance to wait staff except for pointing fingers where to go. They have been in business long enough to take orders or refill water or bread while overworked wait staff rushes and tries to meet everyone's needs.
Had a reservation at 7:00, two of my three party had arrived early and were seated. When I arrived they said no one had arrived, so they were waiting at the table, I was in the lobby for 20 minutes. They called the restaurant to check if I was in the lobby. We were jammed into a tiny, cramped table at the back of the restaurant, very uncomfortable for three people. Food was okay, not great for the price. Disappointed in this place, chaos in the lobby even if you had a reservation. AK
Fabulous as always! Service is perfect and attentive. God is yummy and portions are a nice size!
Last night I had the sesame seared ahi tuna with rice and ginger. It came with a salad. The tuna is some of the best I have ever eaten, and I enjoy sushi restaurants. It's better than I get in sushi restaurants. My husband had the sand dabs. We always enjoy our meals here. Servers are friendly and attentive. The martini has spoiled me. It is prepared exactly to my liking, and they do not spare the vodka.
We often have lunch here. The French dip beef sandwich is outstanding.
This is a restaurant with a vintage vibe.
I highly recommend The Valley Inn.
Very quiet on a Sunday night and no one sang happy birthday but the food was terrific !
had not been here in years and took a chance, a wonderful surprise with delicious food and great prices.
will be going back
I really liked this restaurant. My friends and I have gone often because the menu is diverse and the food is usually very good. This time, however, our server was just overworked. He had a party in the back of the restaurant and several tables to serve in our area. It took a long time to get our food and once we finally did, my food was cold and my sad dabs were soggy. I was disappointed.
Will I try this restaurant again? Probably yes because I don't think one bad experience overrides many good past experiences. But, I hope, things improve in the furture.
I have liked this restaurant in the past. It has really come down in my opinion. The special for the night was Beef Stroganoff...the meat was chewy/tough and very disappointing. The lobster bisque was mediocre, my wife's onion soup was very salty, and to top it all off, our waiter was a real jerk. We are not likely to return.
The ValleyInn has been around for about 60 years, and it is still a local favorite. The menu is extensive ranging from burgers to steaks and prime rib. The items are fairly priced and the entrees come with soup or salad.I especially like 2 of their chicken dishes: chicken romano, aparmesan coated breastless chicken, covered with various vegetables, including artichokes. The other is a walnut crusted chicken breast.
They have a wine list, but you can bring your oen wine for a $15 corkage fee. The bar serves great drinks; the bartenders are knowledgable and friendly. You can get a sense of the history of the Valley Inn by looking at the famous sports figures of bygone and current years. All in all, the Valley Inn is a great spot.
One thing to watch for: If you get seated with a server who is also serving a large party in the back, private room, ask to be moved, if possible, because you will have a long wait between ordering and getting your food.
It had been many years I had visited. Thought this would be an ideal location to treat a special client. The food was delicious and so was the martini. I will not wait years to return. Thank you.
Cool vibe at the bar and a great neighborhood hangout! Food is good and the Brussels sprouts are a stand out!! That’s about it.
Great dining experience as always! Management and staff courteous and friendly
Have been a customer for 20+years and it is the best restaurant to eat and visit with friends in an old time cozy atmosphere.
You can't go wrong with this classic Valley steakhouse. Great drinks at a great price, attentive barternders, terrific food, and owners Boris and Sophia make everyone feel like they're at Cheers. The chopped steak and burgers are fantastic, and so is the signature fried chicken - worth the wait! Grab a couple of friends and have a martini (or two) while catching your favorite game in the bar.
Slow service and very bland food.
Not for millennial. Old style steak house very good and very quiet.
Same as always good food and service the noise level hi
Excellent food, service was great, lost my sunglasses but they found them. Altogether a wonderful place
Very disappointing dinner experience here. From the start when the server blocked us from sitting at the table because they were putting menus down (2 of the menus turned out to be completely blank) to not bringing any celebratory desert when I stated it was a birthday on the Open Table reservation and told the host, this meal was an utter disappointment. The prime rib was not a thick cut and was just so-so, as was pretty much all of the food served. (The calamari was the one good exception). The service was as bland as the meal. Our server seemed to lack interest in us and her job and adding nothing to the dining experience. I think she uttered the least amount of words possible to complete her minimal task at hand. There was another server who was dressed like he had come from working in the kitchen or a food truck. At least he seemed to have a personality.
We were excited to return to this restaurant after a terrific dining experience here about 4 years ago. We definitely won’t be back for a third visit. Too bad!
The Valley Inn is simply a fantastic gem that brings the best of old school dining with excellent food and service that is consistent. Wonderful booths, I love booths! Victoria, a legend by herself, is a wonderful waitress that gives just enough of a smile with candor that makes your dining experience enjoyable as well. You won’t be disappointed.
I had never been and a friend said it carried a lot of valley nostalgia. I grew up in the valley so thought I'd give it a try. Indeed it does have valley nostalgia and has a cool throwback atmosphere, but the food was really mediocre. And unfortunately, I got one of the more expensive items on the menu. It is a convenient meeting spot so I will probably go back to try the fried chicken and the martinis. Maybe it was an off night!
Fabulous. Service and food amazing as always. Portions are perfect. This is our go to place. .
Prime rib was tough. Worst service I’ve had in a while
Great food, Great old school dark wood red booth atmosphere .
Have known hosts Boris and Sophia for years. They are the best !
Loved the vibe in this "red booth" restaurant. Our server was absolutely delightful. A place for adults who appreciate mid-century eateries.
Fabulous as always! Service, food, portions. All was perfect. We are never disappointed!
Fabulous as always. This is our go to place for a good meal. Always good service and great food!
This is a great neighbor restaurant with great food and service. The dining chairs are a little odd and older and would prefer a booth next time but overall a great experience!
My husband and I eat here often. Last night he had the fried chicken special which came with mashed potatoes and vegetables with a glass of champagne included. The whole dinner was under $20.00 as I recall. I had the walnut crusted chicken breast, baked potato, vegetables and a salad. I loved wrapping my hands around a cold martini, especially in the summer heat.
Host and hostess are lovely, warm and inviting people. We sat in deep black leather booths, and could easily hear one another. The restaurant has an old-fashioned feel to it. The food is consistently excellent and the service is friendly and excellent.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
My friends and I had a lovely evening. We did want potato pancakes as an appetizer and you didn't have it
Valley Inn is always an enjoyable experience of old school quality and value. Meals are cooked to perfection, wait staff attentive, and the overall experience makes it a place to go repeatedly.
I received an email advertising a special for July 3rd only. Great value and nice choices. Excellent promotion.
One of our favorites in the Valley. Warm, old world feel to the restaurant. Food is excellent. Best liver and onions I've ever had and I've had a lot. Great prime rib and fish as well. Friendly, fast service.
A reliable restaurant, been there for years, always can be counted on to be a good experience.
Great food, amazing service, and a wonderful experience! This place is consistently one if the best restaurants in Los Angeles!
Just a great neighborhood restaurant that has been there for sooo many decades. Always a good, reasonable food, good service. The place where you go when you want comfort food and a step back into just the olden days------but a great and active martini bar too.
Lived in the valley my whole life and always said I need to go there. Finally did! I will be going back. We loved it.
