always our favorite but this exceeded expectations!
We go there once or twice a year. We sat outside on this occasion, on the porch, and it was incredibly pleasant with a picturesque view. We all enjoyed our dinners; my salmon was cooked just right, and the bed of couscous/veg was delicious with the dribbled sauce.
Great food and service in a beautiful old building. Unfortunately for this business, there are unsavory characters passing by on the trail, shouting obscenities, playing loud music, displaying mental illness, etc. So if you go, eat inside!
Very nice staff, interesting menu, great view, food was very good.
Nice lunch on the patio after a hike
Always a great experience at the Valley Green Inn. It’s quite literally “off the beaten path”, but will always be one of my favorite restaurants in all of Philadelphia. The food and service has consistently been excellent through the years...and even if it wasn’t, I’d probably still come here for the atmosphere. Highly recommended if you haven’t tried it yet.
It is about the experience. Food is honestly fair. Nothing to great or fresh.
Crab cakes were more fill and were fishy.
Hot chicken was tasteless.
Our waitress was great and the ambiance was too.
Drinks were over priced and so-so.
You don’t go here for great food.
Outdoor on the porch on a warm June day, what more do you need!
The food was good but seemed a little overpriced. It's a beautiful setting and a great time was had.
Nice spring / early summer afternoon sitting outside on the porch watching people enjoy the Wissahickon trail... the Valley Green Inn is dependably good food in a lovely spot.
Everyone was lovely and accommodating under challenging circumstances! Thank you!
Friends’ birthday. Great setting and food.
The food was good, servers were friendly, but very busy. Location and view can't be beat! Some people, including us, had to wait a bit to be seated, even though we had reservations and there were empty tables. But once we were seated everything was very nice.
I have been going to Valley Green for about 65 years and I love it! But our last visit was surprisingly a bit disappointing. There was a mix-up at the start so that no server came to our table after we were seated for at least 10 minutes although servers did come to the tables around us. We did not get our food for 50 minutes while other customers who had arrived earlier did get their food. The food was delicious, however. The biggest problem, however, was that there was a gentleman power washing the area right next to the porch while we were sitting. The area already is somewhat noisy with everyone talking, but the noise of the powerwasher was overwhelming. I understand that the job needs to be done, but why not do it earlier in the morning before lunch starts? It lasted for a good 15 minutes. None of this will stop me from coming back, but if it had been my first time at VG I might have thought twice about returning.
Delicious lunch and delightful wine and unobtrusive and attentive service!
The food and service were excellent. We love to got there and eat outside especially for lunch. We will be back.
The outdoor dining experience at Valley Green was excellent. The tables were nicely spaced under the beautiful canopy of trees surrounding the Inn. The wedge salad with salmon was fresh and plentiful and my companion enjoyed her short ribs. Our server was very efficient and our entrees arrived very quickly. We finished our meal with a slice of cheesecake with berries. It was a lovely Springtime lunch!
We bought out of town grinds for lunch. We all enjoyed the historic ambience and lovely service and surprisingly very good food
The Valley Green in is one of my favorite outdoor dining spots. Peaceful, very good food, and usually prompt and attentive service. Yesterday the server was unusually slow with serving our food. It did not appear busy but a larger group arrived after we were seated. Other people in smaller groups arrived after we had placed our orders and were served before us. Still overall a very pleasant lunch
A long-standing family favorite - we’ve been coming 40 years, and somehow the food just keeps getting better. So nice to get outside the city to eat, as well. Parking lot was full, luckily we decided to hike in, so best to plan on hiking in on a Sunday - it’s a popular spot!
We had a lovely meal outside on the porch on a beautiful early summer afternoon. The food was delicious, the service efficient and kind, and tge setting pretty special. Thank you!
Birthday lunch for two of my friends. We sat on the porch & it was lovely! Birthday candle on the shared dessert was a nice touch.
Always enjoyable. Just wish the Inn would vary menu, or offer more choices.
The food was excellent. The hummus I had as an appetizer was one of the best I've ever had.
The drinks, salads, hummus and ambiance were terrific, as usual.
We ate an early dinner on the porch and it was very pleasant. Our meals were good- cauliflower tempura especially good- and I’m the ambiance was delightful. Service was mediocre. Would definitely go again soon!
Delicious food and the Wissahickon across the way as you dine outdoors - it’s a true treat.
Hate to say to many good things, prefer to keep this sweet spot quite
Standard American cusine, not the most imaginative - good but not great basic lunch fare.. The location is what makes this place a standout.
Beautiful restaurant within the Wissahickon park. Excellent American menu and wonderful ambience.
Small, quaint, good food, historic location. Check it out.
Everything was great. Loved eating outdoors in this setting.
Great place to dine. Casual but classy and it’s not pricey.
We went to Valley Green for Mother's Day and had a great experience. I wish they had advertised their special menu as I'm not a fan of prix fixe menus for brunch, but the food and atmosphere were both great.
Mother’s day dinner was wonderful!
What an enjoyable lunch outdoors on the Valley Green Inn porch on a beautiful spring afternoon! Food was very tasty, service was good, and overall it was such a nice setting for a first post-pandemic lunch with a treasured friend.
Beautiful outdoor setting featuring the Wissahickon creek and it’s wildlife. Calm, relaxing and the cheese steak was delicious. Perhaps the best Manhattan I’ve ever had!
Amazing location. The view of the river, the geese, the ducks and all the people with their dogs is unbeatable. The food was great and phenomenal value. The hostess, Rosemary, went out of her way to take care of us and everyone else.
OK... the geese in the front got into a fight. Fun to watch!
Our waiter was excellent. The man that seated us was attentive and made sure we had another glass of ice cold water. The ambiance and weather could not have been better. Food, EXCELLENT !!!
And then my wife and I fished for trout out front and caught several for dinner!
What could be more perfect?
