Valley Green Inn
The Valley Green Inn is so underrated and Not sure why. It is a historical restaurant nestled in Fairmount Park and one can feel the richness of the history upon entering. Our dinner was delicious with a very good presentation. Our waiter was more than attentive even to the point of moving our table to be away from a rather noisy one . If you have never been there try it - I doubt you will be disappointed. If you haven’t been there for awhile - give it a second look- we did and were pleasantly surprised!
It was a rainy night and the little dining room was cozy with a fire in the fireplace. Waiter was jolly and the Dodd delicious. Enjoyed the old inn!
The historical atmosphere and the beautiful setting make this spot always a wonderful treasure, sort of like taking a vacation without driving hours away. We found that our first courses were superb. The ginger carrot soup deserves a special mention. The dinner entree's were tasty but did not seem to match the level of expertise we experienced with the first course.
It was a very quiet night so comments about sound levels, good service, etc. need to be considered in that light. Regarding ambience, it is a great pity that the fire has gone and generally the restaurant layout is a bit haphazard. It was also prix fixe night, which provided a lot of hearty food at a very reasonable price. I would always recommend the Inn because of the location. But you should expect a good, not a great, dining experience when you get there.
Beautiful location, rustic surroundings, good food.
Bacon wrapped meatloaf! Chocolate cake to die for. Call for directions before going.
Great ambiance, great food, love this place
My second time here for brunch and it was great again. The food is really delicious and the Inn is very quaint. It’s a wonderful place to stop after a hike. Always busy so make sure to get a reservation.
Birthday Brunch was great! They even provided a birthday dessert!
The food is quite good, particularly mushroom risotto and the pate appetizer. Attentive service, nice selection of wines by-the-glass. Attractive setting.
Usually very happy with the place. And for the most part tonight was no exception. Except these exceptions. Fake Fireplace. Lame. Always liked the ambince of a real
Wood burning fire in the setting. Electiric fireplace was a let down. The food was great. Everything else the management can control was fine. Gotta admit though seems like every time we go there is at least one table of chestnut hill snobs, acting as such. Elitist folks with their fancy sweaters and loud mouths. Its been a tradition for us over the years, but Im not sure we will be back.
We get here often and are never disappointed. We will will be back soon.
It was a great experience
Dined Valentines day. Quaint and quiet. Pleasant servers. Surprise expensive fixed price menu. Good soup course; excellent chocolate cake for desert. Otherwise food mediocre at best. Ambitious menu, not well executed.
Had a great Valentine's Day dinner there with my wife. W
terrific as always have been going there for years
Valley Green Inn is a charming old building with small dining rooms and early American decor. The food portions are a good size, and the flavors are good. Service was excellent for lunch. There were not very many customers there on a rainy Monday.
enjoyed everything, the setting, the food and the service.
Nice and cozy restaurant, perfect after a walk. My group of 4 all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the hot mulled wine!
We love coming back to Valley Green Inn. This time we really enjoyed their delicious Veggie burger and Kale salad. Thank you Renee for our exceptional experience.
My family and I had an incredible time at Valley Green. We were celebrating my brothers graduation and this place nailed it. The entire outside scene was beautiful and the environment inside the restaurant was fitting for the special day. There was a fireplace and peaceful music quietly played in the background so everyone could talk with no issues.
The salmon, crab-cake and roasted chicken were all enjoyed. This place gets 5 stars and I highly recommend to anyone considering it.
Delicious food, great service, we enjoyed a quiet dinner and will be back
We went for the price fixe brunch and it was very delicious! The ambiance was very pleasant!
Went to Valley Green for my boyfriend's birthday brunch. I had been there before, for lunch, and the whole experience was wonderful. Made a reservation online and when we arrived, was seated immediately. The food was beyond delicious and the waitstaff very attentive.
Food was okay, took very long to come out as if they forgot about us , almost an hr.
78 dollars a person in a price fixed menu that was completely different than what was online after booking. We were half way through our salads when a poor excuse of arancini and lobster sliders came out. This meal was the worst $250 I have ever spent at a restaurant. Go to Zahav in the city if you are looking for a good meal. It is tucked away in the middle of nowhere for a reason.
Family holiday celebration. The dining room is intimate in a way that means you’re really sharing the experience for others who are there too. Including the baby having a meltdown. I know babies cry but it definitely affected our celebration to share the small space with a large family trying to console a crying baby a few feet away. Such is life. Not anyone’s fault but just the reality of the evening.
It was ok. service was slow and awkward, especially for it being Christmas day.
Charming historic country inn feeling. We loved the (gluten free) mushroom soup which was a generous serving and very flavorful.
Our friends and my husband and myself get together near Christmas for dinner together instead of exchanging gifts. Last year, our dinner was ruined by an incompetent waiter, mistakes in the order and a great deal of noise. At the Valley Green Inn, our dinner was superb, the waiter was very good and, best of all, we were able to carry on a conversation and hear each other without raising our voices. The atmosphere was in the holiday spirit. So, we plan on doing our get together there next year. Hopefully, hubby and I can enjoy several meals there during the year.
An absolutely charming brunch!
Delicious food. Good experience for my group. We were seated by the entrance and it was just a little drafty for one of the people in our group. Food was very good, excellent portions. Definitely would recommend to others.
This is a favorite spot for us, and we are never disappointed.
Always a great place to take out of town visitors after a hike in the woods! Cozy and quiet, great place for leisurely meal. Food pretty consistent though today’s chef was pretty heavy handed with the salt. Will come back when friends come to visit Philly. A really unique hike and dine opportunity.
Always an interesting place, setting , history
My son was married here!
My wife and I went for a relaxed dinner for our anniversary. The food and service were both great. Portions were generous for a restuarant on the fancier side which was a definitely plus for me as I hate paying for an expensive meal and leaving hungry.
Lovely brunch with family! Delightful!
Venue and setting is special, Had a terrific meal with terrific service. Interesting menu choices and the items we chose were great. Had a really enjoyable dinner and the whole experience was special. Highly recommend.
It is a beautiful restaurant. It had a lot of great activities surrounding it. The staff was helpful but not particularly friendly. I felt that the portions did not appropriately match the cost.
We have frequented the Inn several times and I had my daughter's bridal shower at the inn. The ambiance is wonderful and the staff is professional and engaging. The food is good, but not stellar. I will continue to frequent the inn.
