The food was great and the service was amazing. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Had lunch on the porch of this incredibly charming and inviting treasure on our beautiful Wissahickon Creek. We were very comfortable with the heaters on low and loved what we ate- a cheeseburger and Braised pork with broccoli Rabe and provolone sandwich. Yummy!!
Great food. Great service. Well spaced tables.
We went there for the ambiance of the historical building. We had to park about a quarter mile away up a steep hill. I opted for the inside dining so we could enjoy the history of the place. The inside dining was actually a patio with a roof over it and plastic wrapped around it. It was heated but of course no atmosphere at all. The food was good but if you are looking for ambiance.............forget it...........not here! Go elsewhere. A disappointing experience.
Short ribs were excellent! Loved eating outside and the service was great.
Another wonderful visit to one of my favorites restaurants in Philadelphia.
Thank you Valley Green Inn.
It’s getting too cold to sit outside even with the heaters. Also a wedding party was too loud. Inside was still not warm enough to take our coats off and and the indoor mask rules are stupid. The food was great and service a little slow but good. I plan to go back.
Lovely setting and always great food!
We were lucky to have a warm November day to sit out on the lovely porch at the Inn.. food and service was very good, but the best part is the location, on the “crick”. ( roxborough peeps will agree)
We had a nice lunch on the outside porch. All enjoyed the food and service . Thank you.
Food was great wish we had gone during the day so we could’ve seen the property more
Perfect setting for an outdoor lunch! Food was wonderful. Scenery was top notch.
We went for our anniversary. We had our wedding reception there 8 years ago.
We return on that date every year for dinner. Excellent experience.
Amazing food and super friendly service!
Reasonably priced food in an incredible location
Dining on the porch of the Valley Green Inn is always a delight, but especially in these COVID days. As usual, the food was exceptional, particularly the corn chowder, which proved one of the very best I've ever tasted.
Great experience with outdoor dining and delicious food!
So beautiful there so naturally it was crowded. Wait was a little long so don’t go if you are in a hurry. But do go if you like leisurely dining in a great atmosphere and good food.
We lucked out with beautiful weather and our table was available when we arrived for our reservation. Service was good but not polished, ok under circumstances for lunch service. We both enjoyed our meals and thoroughly enjoyed truffle french fries as a starter. With limited seating a reservation is recommended unless you go 'off' hours.
This is a great place to grab some drinks outside and people watch along the Wissahickon trail.
Trish was sooo
attentive. New chef. Awesome new menu.
Made a reservation so had our choice of table on the porch. Due to social distancing, not able to sit along railing by Forbidding Drive, but table was fine- had good view of Wissahickon Creek.
Drinks and food served in timely manner.
Server very nice.
Lovely place to eat. I have been here 3 times and I was never disappointed.
Nothing can beat the view and peaceful beauty of this Philadelphia gem. Often overlooked, the incomparable tranquil wooded setting is well paired with delicious food.
Although it was a littel drizzly, lunch at Valley Green was so nice. I enjoyed a freshley prepared mushroom gyro - tasty, and served with a smile. It came with a small sidesalad that was good too. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The noise of the lighly falling rain on the portico was nice. Thank you ! we will be back soon.
Food was good. Service was poor. Bathrooms were unkept. No toilet paper in two stalls, trashcan was overflowing. Dirty dishes in stacked in the lobby. Will not return. Beautiful sitting outside.
Wonderful evening on the patio. The creek and activity on Forbidden Drive provided a lively and beautiful setting. Good food served in a caring way.
Food was blah and over priced and they literally made us move from our table when we just ordered a drink and were there for 40 min to give it to someone else...
This was the first time eating out since March. The Inn is in a wonderful location .. the tables were set up lovely. It was peaceful. I ordered a burger, something I haven't had in ages. It was not cooked as I had requested and it was overall disappointing. For the money I would expect better. The side salad was good. Thankfully it was a beautiful day, and I was just happy to be on a lovely patio overlooking the water and at a resturant.
The food was great and the setting is lovely. Our server was the only server there (it was a Tuesday night) and did a fantastic job, we didn't wait long for anything. One of my favorite spots.
I realize these are challenging time with corona. The menu is very limited. Husband liked his chicken sandwich but very few items on the menu without garlic. I HATE garlic. Not even a drop. So I got a salad with olive oil. The salad, to me, tasted icky,, Like an old Lady. Was it the cilantro in it? Idk. Ate half anyway bc I was hungry. But the atmosphere is just beautiful, we sat outside. I’d always wanted to check this place out and while the restaurant and setting was lovely, staff was very sweet and helpful, I wasn’t a fan of the food but I’m a picky eater and as mentioned husband lined his dinner.
We wanted to take a bike ride in the park but needed a great place to stop, eat lunch and use the facilities. Valley Green Inn as perfect. We sat comfortably outside, under an awning, and far enough away from other dinners. I had fish cakes which were ample and perfectly prepared. My partner has a wedge salad with chicken which he loved. We were seated promptly. Our server was friendly. This was a super way for us to get in a bike ride in a stunning setting during the pandemic. (We ride with our masks on!)
Great evening in a green environment.
Food was great, view from the front porch eating outside was wonderful, great for people and animal watching. Would definitely dine there again.
Good food, good service. Was able to maintain distance.
I loved the atmosphere and scenic location - and the food was just perfect! It's so nice to have a restaurant to visit that has ample tables at a distance where we can all feel safe. I can see why this place is such a draw for weddings and events - they have an amazing location for outdoor dining and events. We will be back for Sunday brunch!
It is a pleasure to dine at this quaint country inn tucked away in the Wissahicon Valley, but just minutes away from bustling Chesnut Hill and Germantown. The food was wonderful and our waiter was prompt and couteous. We first dined here 48 years ago, and it is comforting to know some things never change. The inn and its menu have a delightful rustic quality unmatched by any other restaurant in the Philadelphia area.
Sean, our server and apparently everyone’s, was excellent. The young woman helping him was as well and he praised her to us, more than once. « Teamwork makes the dream work » and everyone out front, as well as those buying, preparing, and plating the food provided us with an excellent dining experience on the porch of an aesthetically pleasing historic Inn.
Excellent restaurant, totally recommended. Great combination of delicious food, great staff and ambience
Great restaurant with old fashioned values for serving and quality.
