Valette Ratings and Reviews
The meal at Valette was one of the best I have had in years. My only complaint it that on their website they said no corkage for local wines and they charged us $20.00 for a bottle of Idlewild Wine that is from down the street. We did not mention it to our server.
We did the 4 course "trust me" menu and were surprised that all of the delicious dishes were right off the menu. I expected them to be different than what we could have ordered but all were outstanding.
This was an exceptional restaurant! From the moment that we walked until the time we left there was not one misstep! John or Johnny was our waiter and he was absolutely fantastic. I can't say enough about him or the food. It is probably one of the best dinner's I have had in the Valley. It was also our anniversary and they went out of their way to make us feel special. Thank you Johnny and Valette!
My husband and I went to Valette to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant is pretty, and I particularly appreciated getting a hand-written card from the restaurateurs. I ordered the special filet mignon, which was excellent. My husband ordered the halibut, and it arrived over-cooked. He let the waiter know, who apologized profusely for the fish and took it away. He then received another order of the halibut, but this time the center was undercooked. Fortunately, he was no longer that hungry, so he didn't eat it all. But it left a bad taste in his mouth. They gave us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, but my husband wasn't impressed.
Valette exceeded our expectations in every way. The wait staff was extremely attentive and helpful. The chef’s tasting menu was incredibly creative with each course having two variations at our table of four. The noise level was low enough to be able to carry on a conversation. Highly recommend!!
We are so fortunate to have this neighborhood gem in Healdsburg. As locals we feel right at home in every way when dining at Valette the minute we walk through the door. From the designer cocktails to the last bite of a scrumptious dessert the dining experience can't be surpassed. Chef Dustin, Aaron and the entire staff make you feel like family.
High prices, low food value. Great ambience and superb service, but the food and pricing need some adjustment. Bring your wallet and toothpick! We split an appetizer and an entree, and had two glasses of modest wine for $200 before tip. $125 would be more like this mediocre experience, and more conducive for a nice tip to fit the great service. High prices for what you get. American kobe filet mignon with sinewy gristle? Not top-notch ingredients, regardless of locality.
Solid 4 stars -- haven't given 5 stars, yet, to any restaurant -- drove an hour to get to the restaurant and it was worth the drive. Went for the New Year's Eve prix fix dinner - was delicious, festive and special. Valette, thanks for making it a wonderful night!
Valette is one of Healdsburg’s hidden gems. The food is exceptional and staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Not a hint of pretentiousness. A must is the Scallops En Croute - an amazing pastry enveloped scallop appetizer. You are welcome to bring in a bottle of wine from your cellar- and if you also buy a bottle, the corkage is waived.
The food here is great and will continue to go back as we live locally. The only compliant I had was the table they gave us was right next to the wait staff service area and there was a lot of activity going on around us. Not sure why we ended up there as when we got there, there were several other tables for 2 available. We made a reservation, so not sure why they stuck us there.
As always, Valette exceeded expectations, primarily on the basis of exceptional quality and great service. Menu hasn't shifted too much, but I hadn't had the pork in a while, and it was stunningly good - moist, very flavorful, unique touches and sides. Tartar at the start was fab as well...so well done. Attentive and thoughtful service, all just what one should expect from such fine dining. My "Go-to" in Sonoma/Napa.
In December, we returned to Valette for my birthday escape after a terrific meal in July in celebration of my lady's birthday. We were delighted to have the same server, Heather, and were equally impressed with the food. We shared the two appetizer specials of the evening, a foie gras and a white truffle pasta, each of which was creative and excellent. The kitchen split the Charred Waygu New York Steak for our main course and it arrived a perfect medium rare with excellent accompaniments. When asked about desert, we declined, but Heather would have none of that and said, "I will choose it for you". An amazing "ItsNotA 'Snickers Bar'" appeared with elegantly scripted "Happy Birthday" in chocolate at the top of the plate. Add in the 2010 Guigal Cote-Rotie, and this was a birthday dinner to remember. Thank you Valette!
Our first visit after receiving a very strong recommendation from friends. The food was excellent, including a very memorable dressing on the fresh green salad. The scallops in puff pastry are a "must try." Our server was knowledgeable, very helpful but even better was how all the wait staff worked together & backed each other up. We had a wonderful time!
