Valentino's Cucina Italiana
1st bad experience at Valentino's. Heard ower changed, you can tell. Bad service, poor quality food and overpriced. Time to consider a new favorite.
We have enjoyed Valentino’s several times and have always found the food and service to be excellent. This last experience was the best yet. Roasted corn and mushroom risotto appetizer followed by the compressed watermelon salad followed by the chefs special of pasta with rabbit was a wonderful roller coaster of flavors and textures. Finished with a slice of German chocolate cake. Wonderful. Only complaint is that the seating is way to close to the next table to carry on a private conversation. Yes, I understand the reasons. No, I still don’t like it.
Service staff is top notch. We have been fortunate to have the same outstanding server each time we’ve been there. Would tell you his name but I don’t want him to get too busy for us in the future. Sorry Mark. Oops!
All good, just a little expensive
First time visit and we will be back. Fantastic food, impeccable service, beautiful dining room.
Best place to eat by far in Ft. Lauderdale...pasta is amazing!
We’ve been told by many that this is their favorite place so we had very high expectations. We go out to eat a lot in our true foodies. We enjoyed the nice vibe but could be Better as our table was jammed up against another table so close that you could hear all of their conversation and if there wasn’t a open steel grating in between the two tables they would literally be jammed up against each other like a cheap café. At these very expensive prices that’s just not the type of atmosphere that Is deserving when you’re paying $150 plus per person We were greeted by a greeter who insisted I was not the person who made the reservation even though I told them my name and it was my seat she made us sit down and wait 18 minutes while the rest of my party was sitting at the table that was under my name. This was simply incompetence plus NO APOLOGY and a little bit of extra attitude was very much unappreciated. Again I made no fuss. The service was Excruciatingly on attentive and slow! It took over 3 1/2 hours just to get a normal meal and that without Dessert because we all had to leave at this point. I don’t like to eat anywhere that I have to wait over an hour inbetween courses. That is just bad management and poor planning. My girlfriends plate was overly fishy and disgusting and She sent it back and refused to order anything else. Their servers were extremely nice but when they brought the food they placed the wrong entrées in front of 2 of us. So of course after waiting for over an hour to receiver our Entrée that was also disappointing. We did not make any fuss because everybody was sweet and kind with the exception of the front desk girl. But Great food other than the one dish but overall a very bad experience. I would give them much lower stars probably should give them a two star rating however I feel like everyone deserves one off night. That said eat here cautiously and hopefully that happens to no one else?
It was too loud to talk. The food was average at best.
The waiter asked us if we had been helped. We said no (at the host stand). Instead of seating us, he did something else. We waited another 4-5 minutes to be seated and he ended up being our waiter. He stated “the earlier part is not my job.”
Once a different person served the salad, we spent at least 5 minutes trying to flag someone to give us cracked black pepper. The service was mediocre for such a high quality perception restaurant.
The pasta dish was AMAZING. It was the most redeeming part of the meal. We ordered the veal pasta with brown butter sauce and sage.
Our entrees, the swordfish and the chicken Scarapiello, were both unreasonably salty. I invited the manager to taste both of them after they were removed. We couldn’t make it through the dish because every bite was pure salt. I felt bad because I knew the other ingredients likely tasted very good. I wanted to like it.
The manager reacted by offering a single dessert complimentary and taking NO OTHER ITEMS off our bill. Not one of the TWO entrees that were NOT enjoyed by my wife and me. If I’m paying $150-200 for a single meal for two people, at a restaurant I don’t eat at very often (but live very close to), and the experience is negative, my customer loyalty level is likely to be very low if there is little to nothing done to overcome my terrible experience. Keep in mind, I’m 6’3” 230 and price is no option, I simply like good food.
The dessert was okay. I had very high hopes for the other items. My best estimate, based on taste, is that if it was not over salted the swordfish would be an EXCELLENT dish. I liked the idea of the clam chowder sauce. I thought the presentation was impeccable.
Overall, I would say the following:
Food: 3/5 (with the pasta being the star)
As a prior restaurant manager, before becoming an attorney, I simply felt like my loyalty or capturing me as a repeat customer didn’t matter. It was my wife’s birthday.
what a disappointment, after reading all rave reviews including sun sentinel, quite simply, the food was inedible
Simply Amazing all around!
Wonderful dinner! We will return!
We love this place. Today seemed like they were short staffed so the waiter wasnt quite as attentive as usual. He was very nice, but was not able to visit the table as often. The food never disappoints so we will definitely be back.
Best restaurant Fort Lauderdale. Pasta is superb. Kitchen bar is fun.
Superb food and service!!!! Cocktails are on the expensive side, but they do have a very nice wine list. Definitely will return.
Perfect special occasion restaurant. Seated immediately, excellent service. All of our food was very enjoyable. Only complaint is the noise level.
Excellent food, great service and very nice experience. I will return.
Valentinos's is the best restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. Food is prepared "just for you", and it is tastefull, perfect.
one of the finest restaurants in ft Lauderdale , the best octopus this side of town by far
Hands down the best pasta in Florida and I have been to all the top spots in Miami and other parts of this state.
We had a wonderful evening! The entire staff provided us with exceptional service and created a romantic ambiance for our date night. The food was so delicious, perfect portions, and cooked to perfection.
Beautifully presented food with amazing flavors. Our server was well informed and had an upbeat attitude.
A treat to enjoy passionate, talented cooking with friendly, knowledgable people in a well designed restaurant.
The whole experience is a mix of luxury and relax ambiance. The food is refine but also comfort. We love this restaurant...
Valentino's is the best high-end restaurant for foodies in Fort Lauderdale. Valentino's can compete with the best restaurants in San Francisco and New York.
Good atmosphere and ambiance, the servers themselves were excellent, but the food coming out of the
kitchen was slow and inconsistent. We waited a long time for our salads and even longer for our entree. We had an 8 p.m. reservation and did not receive our entrees until almost 10 p.m. No matter how good a restaurants reputation, no matter how famous the chef, timely presentation is essential.
After all the waiting for the main courses way to long ,they came cold! Cold pasta are you kidding!
Completely enjoyed the whole experience especially the waitstaff that paid attention to every detail. Will definitely be returning soon and also the the door East a try
Amazing restaurant! Our server was beyond attentive and the food was delicious. Highly recommend.
Great place! We were from out of town and made the wrong reservation but decided to stay and eat anyways. They treated us very well! Would highly recommend going, the food was exquisite!
Service was very slow. Food was mediocre, portions very small. Very noisy
Chef Giovanni never disappoints. We ordered off the specials that night and he served us a pasta mussel breadcrumb dish that goes beyond flavor. We also had his special ham and egg dish that I think is the best thing to order when available. The pound cake desert was to die for. Of course MY describtions of these wonderful choices of food is of lamans terms and the words can not explain the ingredients and flavor that you experience when dinning at Valentinos. Should be ranked as a Michelin rated restaurant in my opinion.
Food was good, didn’t knock our socks off.
Long lag time in between our appetizer and the main coming out.
Small portions for the price
Always good, service with Keith was great. Limited summer menu though.
My wife and I came here for our 21st Anniversary, after learning about it being part of CRAVE Fort Lauderdale. We were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent. CJ, our maitre’d, was professional and humorous. We will definitely come back in the future, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a taste of high-end Italian.
Well, I finally made it to Valentino’s. The first time I had the pleasure of tasting a meal prepared by Giovanni Rocchio was when he owned Acqua E Farina on Federal Hwy and 12th street and moved out of the area as he opened Valentino Cucina. During my visits back to Fort Lauderdale I did not get to opportunity to dine at Valentino Cucina until this last visit. After reading Mike Mayo’s glowing 4 star review (the only one he has given out for a restaurant in Broward County) and his recommendation to try it during Broward County Restaurant month, I knew it was a must visit when I got to Fort Lauderdale. Oh my, was Mr. Mayo right! My friend and I had a reservation for 7PM but arrived a little early and we were seating promptly. We were warmly greeted by Elke, Chef Rocchio’s partner “in love and business” as she said and escorted to our table. From the moment of meeting Elke and throughout our meal service was extraordinary. Derek our server was attentive without being over bearing, CJ was so nice as he roamed the restaurant making sure all was ok, and Elke coming by a few times, we could not have asked for a better experience with service. And then came the food. We stuck with the Dinning Out menu and it was above and beyond anything you would expect from a restaurant doing this month long promotion. I asked Derek if the portions on the special menu were the same size as those on the regular menu and he said yes they are and that was so true. I selected the Caesar Salad, Branzino and my friend got the Roasted Beet salad and the Chicken Scarpariello. Desert was a Rum Cake with a Bourbon Cream topping. We gave each other some of our selections and with each bite I knew why Mr. Mayo had given Valentino Cucina his 4 star review. Each dish was a 10 out of 10 in presentation and taste. I am not a big dark chicken fan (the Scarpariello is pounded chicken thighs rolled and stuffed) but I did enjoy every bite of it. My Branzino was light and flakey and the accompan
The food and service excellent. We were lucky to get a table near the kitchen where we could see the Chef Giovanni Rocchio in action. Fabulous -- highly recommend.
My fave restaurant, period. Chef Gio and his team always impress.
Food arrived cold. The oyster appetizer special was ridiculously small, inexcusably so, and yet expensive. The waiter and sommelier were very apologetic and provided great service. However, they could not make any adjustments without manager approval. The manager came over twice during the meal, once when the oyster appetizer arrived and once when the food arrived cold. He too was apologetic and said that they would make meaningful adjustments to the bill. It was my wife's 50th birthday and the food completely ruined the evening. What's worse, the bill came and the only adjustments they made pertained to free dessert. The meal came to over $600.00 and the manager thought that 2 free desserts would make up for it. I let him know how disappointed I was but that did not make any difference. I am happy to spend good money for a good meal but this was inexcusable and the manager did not handle the situation properly. The waiter was embarrassed but there was nothing he could do. Truly, all restaurants have an off night. But good restaurants handle things well so that their customers are forgiving and willing to give them another shot. I will not be giving this restaurant another shot.
