Valentino's Cucina Italiana
The food is very good but the portions are very small. I’m not a big eater but I was not satisfied when I left.
Restaurant has lost a lot since it changed owner chef 4 Miami months ago.
Wonderful food presented in a great atmosphere. All pasta is handmade and we enjoyed watching the cooks in the kitchen as they worked. Love the decor!
It was relatively quiet on Sunday, so the noise level was not as high as usual. Amazing food and presentation, wonderful service. It was not our first time there, and it won't be our last! We love that place!
Food was ok.....way over priced especially for such small portions. Bartender at One Door East was great.
Delicious food, attentive, informed waiter, good space between tables. We’ll definitely be back.
We werr celebrating and we had a wonderful evening
The food was great, but just really small portions! I’m not interested in getting huge portions but these are very small I was hungry after dinner. The wait between the appetizers and the main course was a long time maybe a good 40 minutes. You could barely hear any music and it wasn’t loud or to busy.
The food was delicious with the amazing flavors! On this visit, the service left something to be desired. Our waiter was curt, declining to place an appetizer order for us without havibg the entire order all at once. The busboy appeared brand new, stacking plates at the table, spilling water on pours and hitting my shoulder twice with dirty plates. We will return as we do enjoy the food at this restaurant, but we will definitely request a different server.
The dinner included amazing food and a classy atmosphere; well done!
This is our absolute favorite restaurant - the food and drink never disappoint and the staff are just fabulous. Whenever we are over from the Bahamas we always make sure to eat here. i would write more about the food but we could be at it for hours - so I will just say it is always sensational. Forget the menu until you have heard what that night's specials are - superb !!
We have dined with Valentino's on many occasion and enjoy the atmosphere and food very much. We can't wait to dine there again!
Still the best restaurant in Broward County! The pasta is homemade and the specials are always intriguing and worth trying.
Valenino's has a new chef and the food has gone down hill sorry to say. I was there in early November 2019 and had a great meal. The then chef left and my meal last night was mediocre at best. After eating only a few pieces of the pasta main course which was bland, I sent the entire meal back. Too many other great local resturants so Valentino's is off my local list.
Ok nothing special
Fabulous service. Food was amazing. Felt like I was back in Italy! Rigatoni with sausage short rib and meatballs unlike any meal I’ve ever experienced. Homemade sausage that was Hugh and delicious
The greeters still the front desk almost ruined our experience. The women were unaccomadating and rude. The restaurant was not full and my wife and I wanted to sit at our table with our friends minutes behind us in their car. We were told no, in a short, curt manner.
Our bartender saved the day with his warmth and humor. I wish I could remember his name—his left arm was fully tattooed.
Our server, CJ, was amazing. The food was excellent. The service was excellent.
In sum, I will definitely be back, but would recommend a more accommodating front desk.
As always, a fantastic meal - food was perfect and service was attentive.
Great Service, great food. too noisy for a quiet dinner conversation
Even though the chef/owner left, the quality is still good. We hope that continues in his absence.
Valentino has been one of my favorite restaurants in Fort Lauderdale for many years. Unfortunately, this last visit left a lot to be desired. I am 5’2” and 105 lbs, my partner is 6’1” and 200 lbs. We enjoyed some wine, shared a salad and each ordered a homemade pasta dish. The portion size for the pasta dishes were very small. At $35 +/- per entree, they should revisit their portion sizes. We had a significant bill and both left hungry...How does that happen?
Gone downhill following chef/owners retirement. Our pasta dishes (including a $90 truffle special, which had very few shaved truffles) came out cold. Server was totally indifferent when we told him. Portion sizes were insultingly small given price. This used to be THE spot for gourmet Italian, but now it’s just an ordinary neighborhood spot. Better options on Las Olas.
Service was a little slow. They seem to attract lots of people for a “special night out” who are not as picky about the service. Ambiance is a little weird because it feels like couches from Ikea.
Amazing food, good wines, incredible service, reasonable prices
Food was fabulous. Incredible flavors. Surprising. Service was great.
Sat at the Chefs table - best seat in the house. Food and service is outstanding!
We went here for our anniversary. The food was exquisite, we tried multiple different pasta dishes and all of them were crazy good. It's a nice romantic place, you won't regret it. And the prices on the menu were actually a bit less than I was expecting. Totally worth it.
Excellent service, food, and ambiance! A true find for an epicurean.
Food was outstanding.
Initial service was way off and our waiter suggested we should be ready to order as they were expecting a large group. We hadn’t even received our bar service yet and had to shout to hear one another over the din of the house music. Another waiter (recognized from previous visit) came to assistance almost instinctively and completed the service, even requesting the music be reduced. The food was absolutely perfect.
1st bad experience at Valentino's. Heard ower changed, you can tell. Bad service, poor quality food and overpriced. Time to consider a new favorite.
The pasta dishes here are outstanding, as is the service. However, this is one if the noisiest restaurants I've ever experienced, as the bar is in the dining area and is frequently packed (according to another customer.) Not sure why they haven't shifted the bar scene entirely next door to the other bar/bistro area, which was empty, and kept the dining room for food patrons only, but it detracts from the meal, and if you're not heavily sauced and don't care, or left your hearing aids at home:), it can be unpleasant enough to skip dessert. Or not come back.
We have enjoyed Valentino’s several times and have always found the food and service to be excellent. This last experience was the best yet. Roasted corn and mushroom risotto appetizer followed by the compressed watermelon salad followed by the chefs special of pasta with rabbit was a wonderful roller coaster of flavors and textures. Finished with a slice of German chocolate cake. Wonderful. Only complaint is that the seating is way to close to the next table to carry on a private conversation. Yes, I understand the reasons. No, I still don’t like it.
Service staff is top notch. We have been fortunate to have the same outstanding server each time we’ve been there. Would tell you his name but I don’t want him to get too busy for us in the future. Sorry Mark. Oops!
All good, just a little expensive
First time visit and we will be back. Fantastic food, impeccable service, beautiful dining room.
Best place to eat by far in Ft. Lauderdale...pasta is amazing!
We’ve been told by many that this is their favorite place so we had very high expectations. We go out to eat a lot in our true foodies. We enjoyed the nice vibe but could be Better as our table was jammed up against another table so close that you could hear all of their conversation and if there wasn’t a open steel grating in between the two tables they would literally be jammed up against each other like a cheap café. At these very expensive prices that’s just not the type of atmosphere that Is deserving when you’re paying $150 plus per person We were greeted by a greeter who insisted I was not the person who made the reservation even though I told them my name and it was my seat she made us sit down and wait 18 minutes while the rest of my party was sitting at the table that was under my name. This was simply incompetence plus NO APOLOGY and a little bit of extra attitude was very much unappreciated. Again I made no fuss. The service was Excruciatingly on attentive and slow! It took over 3 1/2 hours just to get a normal meal and that without Dessert because we all had to leave at this point. I don’t like to eat anywhere that I have to wait over an hour inbetween courses. That is just bad management and poor planning. My girlfriends plate was overly fishy and disgusting and She sent it back and refused to order anything else. Their servers were extremely nice but when they brought the food they placed the wrong entrées in front of 2 of us. So of course after waiting for over an hour to receiver our Entrée that was also disappointing. We did not make any fuss because everybody was sweet and kind with the exception of the front desk girl. But Great food other than the one dish but overall a very bad experience. I would give them much lower stars probably should give them a two star rating however I feel like everyone deserves one off night. That said eat here cautiously and hopefully that happens to no one else?
It was too loud to talk. The food was average at best.
The waiter asked us if we had been helped. We said no (at the host stand). Instead of seating us, he did something else. We waited another 4-5 minutes to be seated and he ended up being our waiter. He stated “the earlier part is not my job.”
Once a different person served the salad, we spent at least 5 minutes trying to flag someone to give us cracked black pepper. The service was mediocre for such a high quality perception restaurant.
The pasta dish was AMAZING. It was the most redeeming part of the meal. We ordered the veal pasta with brown butter sauce and sage.
Our entrees, the swordfish and the chicken Scarapiello, were both unreasonably salty. I invited the manager to taste both of them after they were removed. We couldn’t make it through the dish because every bite was pure salt. I felt bad because I knew the other ingredients likely tasted very good. I wanted to like it.
The manager reacted by offering a single dessert complimentary and taking NO OTHER ITEMS off our bill. Not one of the TWO entrees that were NOT enjoyed by my wife and me. If I’m paying $150-200 for a single meal for two people, at a restaurant I don’t eat at very often (but live very close to), and the experience is negative, my customer loyalty level is likely to be very low if there is little to nothing done to overcome my terrible experience. Keep in mind, I’m 6’3” 230 and price is no option, I simply like good food.
The dessert was okay. I had very high hopes for the other items. My best estimate, based on taste, is that if it was not over salted the swordfish would be an EXCELLENT dish. I liked the idea of the clam chowder sauce. I thought the presentation was impeccable.
Overall, I would say the following:
Food: 3/5 (with the pasta being the star)
As a prior restaurant manager, before becoming an attorney, I simply felt like my loyalty or capturing me as a repeat customer didn’t matter. It was my wife’s birthday.
what a disappointment, after reading all rave reviews including sun sentinel, quite simply, the food was inedible
