Valbella Ratings and Reviews
The best thing about Valbella was the wine. Their selection and pricing was excellent.
Service was also very good.
Unfortunately, the food was not up to par. My guest and I were unable to finish either our pasta course or main course due to lack of flavor and/or undercooking. Our server was very concerned and attentive, and offered to remove one of the two courses from our meal. The wine he offered when we declined replacement meals was pitiful.
All told, the ambiance, service, and wine/bar selection was great. The food, was not. Would not give it a second try unless I was only going for the bar.
Have been to the restaurant 5 or 6 times. Always treated warmly. Food is fantastic. The place was quiet on this last visit which was nice. But I’ve been there when it’s really hopping and it’s still a very nice atmosphere.
Kudos to bartender Irena, who makes great cocktails and has incredible class and is A++ in customer service.
We traveled to NY for our 25th anniversary. We went to Valbella based on a recommendation from a business contact who lives in the area. Despite noting in the reservation that we were celebrating our 25th, the staff showed no acknowledgement. Not only that, the staff was inattentive, slow, and seemed to not want to be bothered with our service. Next trip to NY will NOT include this place. We eat out at a lot of restaurants, and are willing to spend plenty for a good meal. This was an overpriced disappointment.
The ambiance was fine but the service was sporadic with too many people taking care of the same thing. We never could establish who our actual waiter was and it took 20 minutes to get a menu after asking for it. Food was good but not good enough to tempt us back.
We four dined very early for dinner, about 5:30. Needless to say, it was quiet and the service was very attentive with few other distractions. The food was excellent as it was my past two occasions, and pricey. I enjoyed all three courses, though the veal medallions were served with still cold burrata that chilled the veal underneath. The souffles were worth waiting for but the star dessert was the Napoleon; I would go back for that!
Food was very disappointing. Ate about 50% of meal. No one asked us why. Left us feeling not well after the meal. No drink menu at bar? Lack of creativity was everywhere. If this place had its time in the sun it has past. They need to reinvent themselves or at least see what their competitors are doing and copy that.
