Best Chilean Sea Bass!
Our business lunch at Valbella Midtown was impressive for a number of reasons. First, the food was excellent. The wild salmon was perfectly prepared, and rested on a bed of delicious brussel sprouts and carrots. The service was impeccable...warm and attentive, and always there when needed, never when not. The room was comfortable, and though busy, we could comfortably hold a conversation at the table.
I'll be returning often. Valbella is a perfect business lunch spot when you want to eat well, and make a great impression.
Great service....as always...really the best. Great menu choices and food is expertly prepared. Not inexpensive but worth it. Also a very convenient midtown location.
Excellent Chilean Sea Bass!
When I go to a restaurant, even in NYC, I don't expect to have a bill in excess of $350.00 for a salad, a piece of fish and a 1/2 bowl of pasta. The food was good but not to the tune of 3 bills. I know that I could have left when I saw the menu but stuck around to experience the meal. It's a nice place but overpriced.
Outstanding - Great food. We were dining early at 5:30 with only a few people in the place. Too Contemporary a look for me but food and service were great.
Clam appetizer was over cooked. Manager was very attentive and made up by offering the house desert complimentary.
Very impressed. The food, service and ambience were exceptional. Even better was the low noise level. I work in midtown and there’s really nothing that compares to Valbella. It’s like the polished, well spoken, well dressed client you wish you had. Rare in midtown.
The service was excellent , the gnocchi was incredible and the dessert was just amazing. Amazing experience!
Great ambience and decor. Food was not prepared at the level we were expecting for this nice and expensive of an establishment. (Weak flavors, steak was overcooked, etc.) Piano player was a nice touch. Great vibe - mediocre and overpriced food.
Have you ever heard of something (or somewhere) that attempts to be fancy yet lacks sophistication. That would accurately describe our take on it. There was one hostess at the stand that was genuine. The very thin young lady at the coat check counter was weird, as is she was too good to check our coats. Honey relax, we were just at Atelier Joel Robuchon, which is the best of the best with top notch service. This place doesn't come close!
The waiter was nice, but seemed very unrelaxed. Nothing against him. I just wish that he could have executed more of a service element without any worry or inhibitions. We are all people. It's ok. I thicket hat the presentation of some of their dishes were tacky. There was way too much seasoning on the octopus. There was also this red sauce poured on my filet mignon. I feel that it should have been excluded or at least placed on the side. I wasn't in the mood to enjoy a $50+ cut drenched ins cause. It threw it off. I feel that a lot of their dishes are drenched in a way that makes it appear less elegant. The $28 tag on a Manhattan was exorbitant. Certainly wasn't the type of environment that I would expect that. If I were in Midtown and had to do a business lunch, then maybe I would return. Otherwise, I wouldn't consider it for another date night......
An absolutely wonderful place. Fun attentive service and excellent food.
Went there at 7:00 pm on a Saturday evening. We know the Valbella in Meat Packing and had several good meals there in the past and wanted to try the mid-town location.
This was truly a grade "B" experience at a fairly high price point. (We hit nearly $250 for both of us with only one standard bar drink for both of us- no wine ordered.) Opened the menu to have crumbs fall out. Sent back one of the napkins for being dirty. Not a great start.
Starter of tuna tartar truly ordinary, as was my wife's shellfish starter of shrimp/crab/lobster.
Main course was a fish and a steak. Very nice but not extraordinary. Passed on dessert.
Nothing to hate but again, at this price point would have hoped for a bit more polish and attention to details, especially in an upscale mid-town restaurant.
Two different salads both beautifully presented & with complex flavors. Entree was Taglitelli with truffle sauce, our favorite. Nice glass of house Brunello.
Food and service was outstanding!!! Alcohol & water ridiculously overpriced!!!
Excellent across the board!
Amazing service and the food was so scrumptious . Waiters were timely , I never found myself longing for anything . The hostess were very kind and courteous as well . My new favorite resturant .
My son lived in New York for several years and he and his colleagues compiled a listing of restaurants-this one was on the list. I was able to make quick online reservations. It was so much more than expected. My girl friend and I were together for a celebration and this place really made a great impact to the festivities. The wine list was fabulous, but we had champagne which was elegant. The food was outstanding. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and probably ne of the best I had. The service was also outstanding. I would go again and recommend it to others.
the food was exceptional. the waiter we had, Jose, was informative and attentive. really enjoyed the meal.
This restaurant has a great mid-town location. It has a wonderful menu and the food and service were excellent.
Excellent food and wine choices
This was not my first trip to Valbella Midtown but I won't go back. Food definitely not as good as it used to be. Zucchini flower appetizer just tasted like breaded cheese. My fish was ok my daughters chicken was dry. The girls at the coat check and desk are a joke. Not friendly to us at all because we were women. Only catered to the men customers. Our server was ok. Nothing special was more attentive at first. As the night went on it was hard to get him. I gave an excellent tip which he never even came back and thanked me for. Overall it was an underwhelming experience. It's a shame because it used to be a place you could count on for excellence.
Wonderful evening at Valbella. Terrific food - the Alfred pasta with truffle is to die for and so is the sea bass. Service was perfect. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for an excellent meal with a sophisticated ambiance.
The service was outstanding from the smiles of the hostesses, who put away our wet coats and packages, to the waitstaff, who thoroughly explained the menu and were very attentive throughout the meal.
The lighting was a little to harsh and bright for my taste but my daughter said it was “clean and modern” so you decide.
The food was so delicious I took smaller bites to make the meal last longer. I got the beef filet with Gorgonzola. This had a delicious sauce with layers of eggplant, fruit, and pepper. It was such an explosion of flavor and textures. Bravo to the chef on this one.
My daughter had the penne with vodka and she said it was good also.
The meal was pricey so if you are on a budget you may have to reserved this place for special occasions but it is especially good.
Valbella is exquisite! Scrumptious cuisine, fantastic ambiance, and excellent service...we recommend Valbella to everyone. Stephen and I can't wait to visit New York City again and to visit Valbella.
Happy Holidays to all of you...with warmest regards,
Mary Jane and Steve
Wonderful experience. One of the best meals in my 65 years!!
I took my daughter her roommates and friends to dinner and we really enjoyed the experience. The wine list is extensive but way overpriced.
Great food & service. Waiter helped choose dinner. Order 1 course at a time and take time to enjoy!
We have visited Valbella multiple times over the years because the food is excellent, fresh, and creative. The staff is welcoming, educated, professional and service driven.
The food is superb, the portions were generous, the service knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
atmosphere is average for this overpriced restaurant, bar is too small, disappointed in the service. The one in the meatpacking district is much better - if I decided to even try them again.
The burrata cheese stuffed veal chop was EVERYTHING & some!!! Love Valbella
Excellent Food, wonderful service . A memorable evening for sure. Hope to come back when they are not having a private party in the main dining room to get the true ambience of this place since it was our first time. We had a wonderful meal, our service was terrific and they took very good care of us as we were celebrating a birthday> would highly recommend.
The Waiter was uninterested in our business. Had to call him back twice just to understand the special. He was more interested in the tables around us. The support staff was good. Called this to the attention of the manager and his response was it must be the waiters off day. He never checked on us. Disappointing.
Delicious food and stunning room.
Our server was willing and able to do anything to accommodate, professional and courteous.
Quiet restaurant to relax after spending a day in very hectic Manhatan. I was disappointed that the waiter did not offer wine by the glass option, so don't hesitate to ask because bottles of wine are very expensive
Beautiful restaurant tucked away just off 5th Ave. Food and service was very good.
First timer. The food and service was great. The sommelier Jordan was excellent. Will definitely be back.
Food was very good attractive setting convenient midtown location
