About Valbella Connecticut
Valbella, which since 1992 has been a celebratory place and a regular haunt for the locals who pack it most nights of the week both for its sumptuous food and its astonishing wine cellar, containing 1,450 selections and 16,000 bottles.
Downstairs in the wine cellar is where many people hold private parties of various sizes, and what a splendidly beautiful room it is, done in polished wood, with a lovely fireplace, the tables impeccably set, the stemware thin, the temperature geared to the maintenance of the wine.
Also an outstanding feature of the wine cellar is a heated granite table that can accommodate up to sixteen guests.

Valbella Connecticut Ratings and Reviews
This was my second time dining at Valbella. Another wonderful experience. Our waiter from our first visit was behind the bar this time and recognized us though it’s been months since we were there. The team treated us like regulars and we had a great time for my wofe’s Birthday dinner.
We have always loved Valbella and patronize it quite regularly. We brought our whole family (9 people) for a recent holiday and enjoyed a delicious and well served meal. There was a special pasta dish, which 3 of us ordered as appetizers (half servings).
When we returned home I inquired as to the bill and was told that it was more expensive than customary because the HALF orders of pasta were $75.00 each. When a “special” is that expensive, I truly believe the price should be listed OR the waiter should mention it. (All other FULL orders of pasta were in the $25.00 range, so this was completely unexpected).
We enjoyed our meal but unfortunately we now feel that we were mistreated.
Had New Years evening dinner. Service was good, but 2 of 3 entrees were cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen. Disappointing as entree's were $40+ dollars each. I think they just weren't prepared for being sold out for the holiday.
Wine list is OK but very pricey.
You pay for the neighborhood here - this is Greenwich Ct - hedge fund heaven.
Food / Service off the charts as usual, We were there for the 1st time probably 20 Years ago and have been there several times over the years. The food and the service was fantastic 20 years ago and has always been consistent. Recommend this place to everyone.
Holiday lunch. Great decor. Comfortable setting. Outstanding service and excellent food. Highly recommended. Apps were delicious (oysters, half Penne). Wine kept flowing! Entrees were also delicious and plentiful (scallops, Chilean sea bass). Service was attentive. Food served at proper intervals.
I used to frequent this restaurant and came back after an extended break. The holiday decor was inviting. We were well dressed but perhaps not a known customer and we were seated in the room where folks were dressed more casually than in the other dining room. Aside from that, we can state unequivocally that the service was impeccable; prompt, attentive, sophisticated and never intrusive. The food was great: burrata, ravioli with short ribs, pappardelle. The cocktails were excellent. The chocolate souffle was wonderful but the cheesecake was just a sliver. It seemed dwarfed by the berries that accompanied it. This is expensive, fine dining -- but worth the experience.
We were in town for a wedding and after reading other reviews about this restaurant, we booked it and asked for a quiet table. Other reviewers had mentioned the noise level and since this was in Dec we thought it might be more energetic. When we arrived, the host acted like we had just walked in and wasn’t sure where to put us. We were seated right by the entry door and near where the food was being brought in. We asked for another table after mentioning we had specifically asked for a quiet table, evidently this table was our only option. Needless to say, it wasn’t a quiet dinner after all, although the food was good and the service was attentive. Apparently, a lot of the locals were well known to the host and were seated in other rooms that we could not see.
Overpriced italian food.
Nice ambiance. Food was good but not worth the price. Also if only having a glass of wine the wines by the glass are of poor quality for a high end italian restaurant.
Fish was very good but not worth $60.
Most dissapointed in the wine. For $18 should be able to get a decent glass of wine.
It was our time and we were staying at the Hyatt down the street. The ambiance and service is excellent, the food was only fair. If the price doesn’t matter to you, it’s worth a visit. If it does, there are much better choices. They do have a good selection of wines at various price points.
We had a great experience at Valbella. My wife used to go when she was young, so we knew what we were going for. We arrived early, so we started at the bar for a glass of champagne. The bartender was nice, quick and attentive. They brought out some delicious cheese and charcuterie while we waited. Once at the table, our server was again polite and attentive, though he definitely gave us the space we wanted to enjoy our evening. The restaurant has a wonderful wine list. Although there are many extremely expensive vintages, there are some gems for a reasonable price for a young couple. We did find it strange there was no sommelier
given the quality of the wine list. The food was delicious. The specials were amazing. The only faux pas, was when we ordered a second bottle of the same wine. My wife tasted the new bottle and when she approved, the server poured the remains of the taste into her half-full glass from the previous bottle. The dessert was decadent. The caramel ice cream was superb. We will definitely be back.
I love, love , love Val Bella! I have never had a disappointing meal there! They also make you feel like a queen! In the ten years I have been going there I have yet to be let down! The pasta with fresh truffles is my absolute favorite dish! And all the staff knows it!
We recently had a pleasant family dinner there. The food was first rate and the waitor was both cordial and knowledgable. I admit to having sticker shock when I looked at the bill -- I had never had a $110 plate of pasta before -- but my wife informed me that white truffles were expensive and the restaurant used top quality truffles. In other words, you get what you pay for. A truffle fan, she said they were wonderful. The house wines were quite pleasant and the fish was fresh. A nice local restaurant in Greenwich.
Though this restaurant hosts some bold-faced names that I know of, it comes with some major caveats. The food is indeed excellent, as is the service, but the noise level on a recent Saturday night drove one of my guests out to the parking lot to get out of its power. The prices are also a bit lofty, though I suppose not for the neighborhood I was in. We left before dessert because we just couldn't hold a normal conversation anymore as the restaurant filled up. But I must compliment them on the high quality seafood dishes.
Continues to impress. Food is delicious, old world and unpretentious. "Foodies" would not appreciate. In my opinion that is a plus, not a minus. The present trend is to throw away the old, time tested cuisine, forgetting that there is still a large segment of the population that enjoys it. Atmosphere allows for conversation with the person(s) you are with, not to be drowned out by the popular noise infused background today's restaurants are dedicated to. Tables are not welded to each other and allow a degree of privacy and ease of movement. Finally, the service remains impeccable...constant attention without being intrusive.
Table of 5. Service was good. Started with a caesar salad and was disappointed. It was lacking in seasoning. My main dish, veal scallopini, was good but others had the special, Halibut, and all said it was dry. The prices are extremely high, so food should be perfect. Tonight, it wasn't.
