Our ever-changing menu features both traditional Italian dishes and Chef Angelo’s creations. Everything is prepared with fresh quality ingredients and is certain to please.
Salad and pasta( butternut squash) was excellent as was the bread. Guests said veal dishes were very good as well.
Birthday was great!
The bruschetta had a pesto aioli twist the tasted amazing! Great staff and good food. Would definitely recommend.
I have been to Vago many many times. I have always enjoyed it but never a WOW. Last night the food was good. The first glass of wine was not even though it was recommended by our waitress. In all fairness she offered to change it, but we felt it would take her too long to get back to us. Food arrived without too much delay but plunked on the table without removing dirty dishes. We ordered the ice cream with chocolate sauce. The chocolate sauce is the poorest quality but even more so, the jug it arrived in was dirty. Obviously it had been used and never cleaned. Cutlery arrived after asking for it. ABOVE ALL - you do not ask for Covid proof on arrival at restaurant. For this reason alone, I will not go back to Vago. You could be reported, but I will not do so. I just won't go back until I hear otherwise.
The waiter was attentive and welcoming
The food delicious as always
The NEGRONI COCKTAIL ON POINT !!!
One of our favourite italian restaurants
The service was excellent and the food was too. Perhaps could have had more feasibly priced wines
Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and food. Can’t go wrong with this place
The restaurant is cozy, there is a warm atmosphere and we always get a friendly welcome.
The food is excellent one of the best Italian food in town.
There is also a nice variety of wine.
The service is faultless.
We go back as often as we can, we enjoy it much.
All the staff is very attentive.
The menu offers a variety of pasta, and it’s all excellent.
There is also a nice choice of wine list.
All the food is excellent. I go back regularly and I am always satisfied.
Always looking forward to go back.
Nice ambiance, very good service.
Excellent service.excellent food.
Service was good tell the end. Don’t need to be looking for waiters to get my check
Service was ok but when they served main course it was served like I was in a cafeteria
Great food! Lots of good wine selection and some decent options for vegetarians. Staff are very friendly and knowledgable. They seem willing and flexible to accommodate any requests. Will definitely come back again.
First time visiting Vago and I couldn’t have had a better time. Great food, awesome service, super wine list and a really enjoyable ambience. Sandro and Tommaso especially stood out in terms of making my wife and I feel welcomed. Will definitely be returning.
Amazing food great staff
I order a Caesar salad and it was supposed to be $16 and I asked them to add chicken to it and then when I got my bill it was $35
We ate outside on a beautiful night and had a very pleasant dining experience.
Service was efficient and professional,
the food was satisfying and the street noise was tolerable. The only surprise was the Vago salad which was OK but changed from the last time we had it.
Exhaustive list of Italian classics that are very good
My friend and I had planned on dining at Vago on a Sunday evening for a nice final dinner at the end of our trip to Montreal. We made our reservation for 9:30pm on open table, and upon walking in and telling the man behind the host desk (who we later discovered was the GM) our name, he exaggeratedly looked at his watch and said “yeah... for 9 o’clock” and took us to our table. After double checking my confirmation email and the open table app, I apologized for being late (we walked in at 9:34) but reemphasized that our reservation was for 9:30. The GM rolled his eyes and walked away. We then attempted to order a bottle of wine with our server (who was incredibly nice and understanding) but it was out of stock, as was the next bottle we requested, and any he said he would usually recommend. The GM came over and told us “The kitchen is closing in 15 minutes. If you want to order something, you should do it now” in an incredibly snarky tone after we had been seated for maybe 3 minutes. I work in a restaurant. I understand that everyone working in the kitchen wants to go clean up and go home when the restaurant closes. What I don’t understand is why they would take a 9:30 reservation if the kitchen closes at 9:45, or why the GM had to be so rude about it. I decided just to stick with a glass of wine, but my friend ordered the pasta primavera and asked to add shrimp. The food was ehh, but the bill came and her meal (a bowl of spaghetti with marinara sauce and three shrimp as well as a glass of wine) was $65. She asked the GM how it added up to so much. He responded “3 shrimp? $20.” I have never felt so unwelcome and been treated so rudely in a restaurant. After a wonderful trip in Montreal where we ate at tons of fantastic restaurants, this place was pretty awful. Would not recommend to anyone.
Excellent cuisine. Very generous linguine pescatore, but delicious. Helpful waitress. Atmosphere a bit too chilly for my taste, but my wife liked it
We had our usual items and they were consistently good. The chop salad, the eggplant parmesan and the veal limone were all satisfying as was the polished and efficient service. This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants.
Amazing place! Spent our New Year’s Eve there with friends and everything exceeded our expectations. The Food was amazing, so flavourful. Thank you to Tommaso and the whole staff for the lovely hospitality!
I can't believe I haven't heard of this place as it has been open for 18 years! Delightful service and great ambiance. The food was exceptional specifically the lamb which was outstanding.
Look forward to going again!
Vago is consistently great food/service/ambiance! I try to go as often as possible
Le service en français un peu difficile aujourd'hui
Potato and leak soup as a starter - very good. My wife had the tomatoe/mozza; quebecois mozza was very good, quite a surprise! For the main, had à Milanese “escalope” which well crafted. Crème brûle for dessert, outstanding. My wife had the chocolate profiteroles, which were underwhelming. Had an inexperienced waiter (didn’t ask if we wanted wine, took dishes away too soon) who was more than compensated by the head waiter’s professionalism. Reasonable bill for 2 drinks + 2 starters + 2 mains + 2 desserts + 2 coffees (158$ + tip)
Hadn't been to Vago for years.. it is updated and quite a cool space now. Service was good, food was well prepared, but a bit heavy on the garlic everywhere. What is missing is some attention from the maitre d' who was immersed in his phone all night.. not on the floor checking that all is up-to-snuff.
Quality and flavour of food is amazing highly recommend
Hadn't been to Vago in many years but very pleased overall. The Vago salad, the veal limone and the eggplant parmesan were all excellent and wine prices by the glass were reasonable. The only negative was the noise level. Conversations around us were loud and the music added to the noise. If we had been with another couple, conversation would have been difficult.
Some of the worst service we have ever experienced. The bottle of wine we ordered, was sold out, so the manager brought out a cheap suggestion. We asked to see one of the other wines, which he proceeded to say "It's a lot more money", almost implying we could not afford it. We ended up choosing the expensive one which was opened left on the table, to air! Not even decanter! The manager never can back, we were not poured a sampler or even a glass of it. We had to pour it for ourselves the entire meal. The server had no idea about the meals. She could not even tell me what type of pasta was in the meals, and did not even attempt to go to the kitchen and find out. We poured our own water, and they kept trying to rush us the entire meal. It is supposed to be a traditional Italian restaurant but again the server or manager did not know what grappa with espresso was. When we had finished our desert, they had all disappeared. From rushing to ignoring.
We never worry about spending over $300 on a meal, but we do expect at least some service!
We will never go back!
Vago is an exceptional restaurant; parking was easy; ambiance was great and the food was exceptional; I had the seafood Pasta; mom had the Veal Limonde and Donna had the suggestion du Cheff which was a pasta; we also had the soup which was delicious; some Reisling and some Pinot Grigio........ Big thanks for the awesome service on my mom's birthday !
RICHARD LABERGE, cpa, cma
The service was very slow for some reason
Food was delicious as usual! We ate outside - so noise level was moderate. It was a great lunch!
Service HORRIBLE. NOISE LEVWL IMPOSSIBLE
Tasty Italian food that we all enjoyed. Service prompt and attentive. Would recommend and return.
The wait staff was so nice and considerate. Thank you
Excellent service, la nourriture était à la hauteur de nos attentes.
Le seul point négatif, les lumières sont trop forte, ça gâche l'ambiance.
