Vagabondo Italian Ristorante & Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Initially the expletive laden hiphop was a complete turn off. It was quite loud, too.
The "rooms" were all strangely laid out and the food was not great. We started with
arugula salad and fried calamari which was passable. I ordered a pizza which was
pretty ordinary and my wife ordered risotto primavera and it was basically re-heated
rice. No moisture or creaminess and absolutely no tooth left in the kernels. Had to send
it back. Our waitress/bartender was delightful, attentive and accommodating.
I took my team out for lunch on a Friday and sat at the patio as it was sunny. The food was decent and the patio is kind of nice in the summer. The service was really slow and we had to ask for water multiple times. It got really warm and the umbrella was broken, we asked to be moved inside as we were roasting in the sun, but it took forever for them to decide whether we could, so we just ate our dessert quickly and left. It didn't help that the server was really slow with getting us iced water.
John was a superb waiter, catering pleasantly to all our requests and getting us out in time for our show without it seeming rushed. The food was excellent, the best veal I have ever tasted, and the smoked salmon appetizer was great as well. Highly recommend.
This is my second time going to Vagabondo. I went 2 years ago for my birthday with friends and my husband took me again this year for my birthday. The menu is affordable and the food portions are very generous for the price you're paying. They also offer parking validation. I can't wait to go back!
This is a lovely spot to dine or have a drink before or after a show. The food was delicious and the staff were all friendly and accommodating. The salmon was prepared to perfection and the lasagna was enjoyed. The salad was somewhat small, but very tasty. We enjoyed Winterlicious prices. It was a comfortable place to dine and I would come again.
Enjoyed our visit. Friday night dinner, was busy but not overly noisy. Arancini appetizer was excellent, bruschetta was good. Thin crust pizza was standard, but the Penne Lido was very good. Will definitely come back, as the menu was full of items that interested us.
Visited for Winterlicious. The chicken in my sister's dish was partially raw. When we told a staffer, it was taken away without an apology and simply replaced. It was not acknowledged again for the rest of the meal and we paid in full for everything. I've been before, but likely won't return. It's a shame considering the food and service are quite good overall.
It was my wife's birthday and I took her to Vagabondo because the Winterlicious reviews are very good, we didn't get the winterlicious menu. I called to request a good seat and once seated we were surrounded by very noisy tables, John, saw that we weren't happy with the table and moved us to a nook where he closed the drapes and it was just us. Still loud guests but we are away from them and once the food came we totally forgot about the loud guests. The food was delicious! Every dish was better than the previous one! I was so impressed I gave nearly 30% tip.... And I'm a cheap guy... The experience there was one of the best I have ever had. I have recommended the restaurant numerous times already!
We have eaten at Vagabondo many, many times over the years but always partaking of the "hot table". We decided with Winterlicious to be served and that was a wise decision. The food was even better than at the hot table --- and that is going some distance as that food has always been wonderful. The service was attentive but not intrusive. We particularly liked that we were in an alcove and it was NOT noisy. We had refused to go to some restaurants because the tables are too close together and the noise level does not make for pleasurable dining. Vagabondo is a keeper in our books. We will be back many times more.
We visited this restaurant due to the proximity to the Sony Theatre. The quality of the food was very good as were the portion sizes. The service was friendly but it was not as attentive as it should be. After our meals were brought out, I do not recall the server coming over to ask if we needed anything else. We needed more water and I wanted some Parmesan for my pasta. Furthermore, I had asked my server for the drink menu in the middle of my meal and it never came. I recognize she was very busy and I would come back and give Vagabondo another try as I am aware that they were at full capacity due to the show across the street. But management should be on top of this and hire additional servers to handle the extra guests.
Ambiance and food was great but our waitress was slow, and forgot about us. I had to ask for water, espressos, etc. she didn't remove dirty plates for a long time and only came to check on us once. And then we saw her taking shots with friends near the table behind us. I would go back in a heartbeat, but make sure we get another waitress.
My husband and I made reservations for dinner as we had tickets to a show at the Sony Center later that night. We arrived at 7:10 and was promptly seated. The waitress was very friendly and took our orders quickly. We ordered the rice balls (which were absolutely delicious) as an appetizer, a bottle of wine and two pasta dishes. The wine and appetizer arrived fairly quickly. We were even provided complimentary bread. However, this is all we were able to enjoy as we waited over 1.5 hours for the main pasta dishes to arrive. We informed the staff on more than 3 occasions that we hadn't received our food and that we had to leave at 9:00 to catch our show. Still no food. The table behind us was also in the same boat and complained as well, but still did not receive their food. The manager eventually came out as we were all leaving to apologize and said that we didn't have to pay for the food we did receive since we waited so long. We went to the show hungry, which was unfortunate because the food we did eat was so delicious and we were really looking forward to the entrees.
I have eaten at Vagabondos previously and yet again it did not disappoint. The prosciutto and pear salad very refreshing. The minestrone soup so full of tasty vegetables and so good. The pasta with salmon delicious. The pasta was home made. Go there and enjoy the food with some friends and each of you try something different and have a taste of each. So worthwhile.
There was no one in the front foyer for quite some time when we arrived. We actually had to walk ourselves into the restaurant to find service to get seated at our table. Once we were seated the service was great, but that initial first impression wasn't a great client experience
Great Italian like Nona makes
Quality of meal prep and presentation is great
John the barkeep chipped in to help serve and had an outstanding knowledge of the meals and kitchen
Busy spot for theatre crowd, the team did an exceptional job of getting the crowd to the show on time
