It’s was dirty. The prison that sat at the front door. Was on her phone with headphones in. Sat us at a dirty table. ‘Cleaned’ the table while we were sitting there and was still dirty.
Everything was delicious. We had the garlic wings, burger with green beans and the fish sandwich. The Shiraz wine was our favorite on the menu. Service was great and the owner stopped by to check on us.
Limited, random menu. Pasta Alfredo reminded us of boxed Mac and cheese. Burgers were charred almost to hockey pucks, edible if you like that. Asked for cokes and the syrup balance was entirely off - all syrup no carbonation. Took 15 minutes to get replacement drinks. Small seating area, and no separation from the bar area.
Good food and fast service! The lemon pepper shrimp actually tasted like it!
One of the many good soul food restaurants in RIC, this one particularly good if you are going to a show at the National.
Everything was good
Had a light birthday dinner for my wife there in the 8th of February and it was amazing the staff was wonderful. Our waitress was amazing she was from Neworleans can’t recall her name but she was lovely.Great experience we will definitely be back
I was there for a preshow early entrance meal and was delighted to get access to the national in the very front row center stage to watch a band I wanted to see for lots of years thanks for the special benefit
My twin granddaughters had never been to a concert, so I purchased tix for Lauren Alaina as a surprise. I had heard about the Vagabond and the ‘early entry’ into The National. What a jewel we discovered! The atmosphere was perfect for a pre-theatre event. Menu is small all but diverse. We enjoyed the vibe and the food was excellent. The staff was impressive as well. I look forward to visiting the Vagabond for adult evenings in the future! Music and good food equal great night out!!
The waitress was excellent. The food was really good and the drinks were well made. This was a great birthday experience for my son.
Food was good, cocktails were great, but overpriced for what was received. Menu is extremely limited. We spent most of our time there wondering where our server was or whether she was going to come back. When asked for recommendations on the menu and whether there were specials, she was lost. Environment was nice and clean. Would recommend only for early entry to the National, other than that, I can't see it as an experience I would do again.
We took my sister for her birthday and had a blast. We ordered appetizers and side dishes to share and everything tasted so good. The green beans, Mac n cheese, fries, deviled eggs were amazing! The sever was well educated on the menu and fun!
We arrive to enjoy New Years Eve and were told there
would be no Meals served that night because of
a kitchen eletrical problem. I felt bad for them, but would have appreciated a call to notify me. I was attending a concert next door & didnt like the few items on the menu. Hardly food to fortify. no protein
The night was long, and certaily I suffered greatly
later as I almost faintes at the concert. What a horrible non food experience and very dissapointing!
I am really sorry about this. What was your last name for your reservation and what time? My hostess and I tried calling everyone and spoke to every customer in the building about this unexpected nightmare we experienced. Again, I am really sorry this happened to you. We tried to accommodate everyone the best we could.
We did the "early-in program" before a show at the National. Came in around 5:00 for drinks and food and by 6:30 we were done and escorted into a special entrance for the show. Food, drinks and service were great. We'll be back!
Food was great. Location near music venue was awesome to allow to get in before doors opened.
Great food, great music, great service, nice club to runs
Relax
Very good service
Great location with great service. Menu selection was limited and could be better.
So, we decided to dine here since they provided early access to the show at the National on 12/7. We had a reservation for 5:45pm and as always we arrived early and the hostess who seemed not to really care confirmed my name and the number in our party and stated it would be a few moments and we could wait at the bar while our table was being prepared. Several employees stopped by while we were at the bar asking if we needed anything and all I asked was how would we be notified that our table was ready and we were assured the hostess would come get us. By this time it was 6:10pm (25 minutes after our reservation time) and I went back up front to inquire about our table and there was a couple who just walked in and was seated!!!!!! When the hostess came back I asked her about our table and she had this look like "oh crap, I just gave your table away" and finally after looking around she finally took us downstairs and sat us at a table for six. Our waitress was very nice and we ordered immediately and it took about 25 minutes for a very over priced small cheeseburger ($14) and a cup of soup that tasted horribly. By this time it was 6:30pm or so and I took two bites of the burger and my wife had one spoonful of soup before we asked for the bill so we could get in an already long line for entry to the show!!!! Never again! Beer choices were few too!
Menu was smaller than hoped for, but everything we did choose was tasty.
Not worth the money. Was expecting A LOT more. If you’re attending the show next door and eating here to gain early entrance, go downstairs to the bar and buy drinks. Don’t waste your money on the food menu.
I was amazed at how delicious my pasta Alfredo with blackened salmon was. Shrimp po boy also good! Staff was so nice! Great pre-show dinner!! Thanks!
Great service. Tasty treats. Affordable choices and relaxed vibe.
We ate at Vagabond for early entry to a concert at the National. Our server was very nice and efficient. Our bacon cheeseburgers and fries were very good and served in a reasonable amount of time. My only complaint is the $14.00 cost for a cheeseburger and fries, and particularly the additional $2.00 charge for one slice of bacon on the burger.
Pleasantly surprised. We were expecting a more run of the mill experience but when we saw deviled eggs we were filled with joy! Excellent fish and chips and a nice whiskey sour too!
The only reason that I cannot recommend The Vagabond is that the food took so long to come out we almost missed our early seating. We reserved a table for 5:15 in order to have a leisurely dinner and be ready for the 6:45 early seating at the National theater. At 6:30 both of our dinners finally arrived and we had to wolf them down. We cancelled one of our appetizers because it was taking so long to appear. One entree came about 10 minutes before the other (and the tables around us were having similar experiences. ) My daughter and I both agreed that our food was delicious, but we couldn’t savor it and had to leave much behind in order to get to our show. Put a damper on the start of our evening!
Don't plan on enjoying a meal before a concert at the National. The 5 of us arrived at 5:15pm with 2 meals being served at 6:15pm and the other 3 at 6:25pm. Line forms downstairs at 6:30pm for early entrance to the National at 6:45pm (There is also a cutoff time shortly thereafter). I had read the reviews about the slow service but thought an hour and a half should be good. Met another couple while waiting for the concert to begin and they were to pick their meals up AFTER the show as they were never served.
If you do eat there before the show, go for appetizers and drinks only. Supposedly you need to spend $15 in the restaurant in order to get early admission but that policy is easily avoided as there were a few folks that came in and ordered a drink, then proceeded downstairs for the early entrance mingling in with the people that actually followed the rules by spending their time and money at Vagabond.
Vagabond does not have to concern itself with their service since they are guaranteed a steady supply of one time only customers that want to take advantage of the early admission to the concerts.
Pre-event concert dining. Enjoyed sampling 3 items off the menu and how easy it was to get to the National for a show right next-door
Great place to take customers before a flames game. Walking distance even in the winter
Sadly, we did not have a positive experience at Vagabond. They are tremendously understaffed. While the hostess, waiter and manager attempted to address the problems, we left after waiting for an hour to receive our meals without being able to eat. It was really surprising because it really didn’t seem busy. We reserved a table specifically for early entrance to a show at The National. We were aware that our order needed to be placed by 5:15. Although we arrived on time for our 5:00 reservation and had already decided what we were ordering, due to lack of staff, our order apparently was not taken in time to be served. It’s unfortunate because I believe that it could be a great plan for dinner prior to a show at The National. I thought it was strange that the restaurant wasn’t full, but if this happens often, I understand why.
it just took a while to get out gift certificates we asked for as soon as we sat down
We ate dinner here to get early entry into The National and very much enjoyed it. all around very good experience. Food was delicious. Only problem with food is limited menu, quality was high. Server was great and we were okay to hang around after dinner while waiting for our concert.
Me and my husband really enjoyed ourselves even doe we didn't witness the jazz band. But the food was outstanding. But we will come again and hopes that we will see a jazz band. The waitress was excellent. Overall the restaurant superb. And nowing that you have a band on Thursday nights we will be there too. So now we no where to dine Just for two. Thank you ALICE.
We had a great time at Vagabond and look forward to our next experience. Service was great, food was excellent. Not an issue but worth noting, the noise level was good but business started to pick up close to 7 pm and it rose substantially. Portions were generous and unfortunately we were attending a concert next door so no leftovers.
Best pork chops I’ve ever had! Cheesy grits were also fabulous!
We were practically the first to be seated for dinner Saturday evening. They were already out of deviled eggs and only had enough shrimp for two of three shrimp dishes. Pork chop bites were good, but for $8 kind of expected more than a few pieces of porkchop fried and thrown on a plate like chicken nuggets. Drinks were great.
My son and I had dinner before a concert and they let us know about the time constraints if we wanted early admission. Our server was Brook and she did a superb job of taking care of us. I had the fried catfish with collard greens & Mac and Cheese. Wonderful! Everything was just as a good southern meal should be. My son had the shrimp po' boy with fries. Ate it all and said he would get again. Overall a great evening with delicious food and friendly, professional service.
Staff and service were wonderful! We did early entry for The Wallflowers and it was perfect!
Everyone was super nice! Food great. Drinks great.
Was gong to the National for the Eli Young concert
