Excellent service and nice atmosphere. Food acceptable but not special. The restaurant's cuisine has declined in the last few years.
We have been to V a number of times when we are in Murphy’s. The quality of the food and the friendly and responsive service are wonderful. A great place.
Unfortunately we picked a weekend when the tourists had descended on Murphys. There was a large group of very loud out-of-towners at the bar. The first table we were seated at was right next to the bar, and the noise was deafening. The restaurant was completely full, so there was really no other place. As soon as a table opened up away from the bar, the wait staff came over and moved us, without us having to ask. Very thoughtful staff. We have been at V's a number of times and have never been disappointed with the food; this was no exception. This was the first time we had a noisy bar to deal with.
Very good overall food quality and preparation. Fresh ingredients and great service. Recommended
Great service and the food is always great. Love this place!
Our good friend from Concord asked us to reserve a table at a romantic restaurant so that he could propose to his long time girlfriend. Everyone at V was wonderful and helped out with the plan. The food was fantastic and the drinks were great too!. It was a really nice evening and someone has a shiny new ring on her finger!
This restaurant is a gem in Murphys, a wine-lovers' destination in the Sierra foothills. We had a wonderful meal of bacon-wrapped dates, fried olives with anchovies, and the best Cioppino we've ever had -- along with great bread. We loved the Renner Syrah, from a local winery. The quality was competitive with wines from the Napa and Sonoma valleys, and the price was about 40% less! We ate here once before in 2010, and the quality is the same.
Disappointing. Unfortunately Vs quality continues to go downhill. We have been going to Vs 4 - 6 times a year for the last thirteen years. Never again. We made reservations well in advance, for early in the evening as in the past the food quality decreases as the evening goes on, due to the kitchen being overloaded.
Was greeted by a surly guy that complained he was the busboy, waiter, maitre'd and comedian for the night. Should have left then and there.
Salads were good, albeit tiny.
Wifes entre was so cold that she sent it back.
My potatoes and carrots were cold, continued eating the entree until the waiter returned. He comes back with the wifes entree, and I point out that my potatoes and carrots were cold, he responds that her food was microwaved and now warm, and walks away.
We finish up, and she requests the left-overs be placed in a doggy bag to take home.
Waiter hands us a bill for $175 for the two of us, says goodnight and we need the table.
So we left, and of course it was without the doggy bag as the waiter never brought it out.
Great food and great service
If you ever want to test a restaurant, go there late on a Sunday evening. You know when you may be one of the last couples seated. That is when you’ll know for certain whether they really care about the quality of your dining experience. I’m pleased to say V Restaurant passed with flying colors!
Freshly made food, attentive service and honest concern for me as a dinner. Well done!
This is our favorite restaurant in Murphys! The food is consistently excellent, the service friendly and efficient and the menu choices amazing! A shout out to Matthew, our server and to Scott who makes one terrific Cosmopolitan! Thanks to all at V Restaurant for continuing to make this our go to dining spot. We recommended it to newcomers to Murphys.
The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the food was good. However, I don’t think it was worth the price. The vegetables were the best part of the meal.
Wonderful food and service. Huge split fee so if you want to share a meal, split it yourself!
This place was amazing! The food waa fabulous and so was the service! I'm definitely going to be eating at this place every time we go and pick up our wine!
We were here on the evening of the Day of the Dead celebration in Murphys. We had a lovely dinner. Our server was friendly, and when they made a little mistake on one order, they discovered it themselves very quickly and made it right, even though we would have just let it go.
We were there years ago and had a repeat extraordinary meal, again. Cocktails are so innovative and tasty. My only sad part of the meal was the limited dessert options. But the hostess gave us chocolate covered almonds that were incredibly good so I left with the sweet tooth satiated. I want to go back, again soon
I had not been here for a while but I revisited after about 2 years. I had a fillet at $40 with mash potatoes. the fillet was cooked perfectly but it was sliced which I would have preferred whole. It
was nothing special. It wasn't particularly juicy. I ordered a glass of red wine to come with my meal at the same time I ordered my entree. I waited after they served my steak and finally started eating because it was getting cold. I had to ask for the wine and then waited more. So basically ended up finishing up my steak before I got the wine and so I couldn't enjoy it with it. I ended up leaving half of it so it was a waste of $10 for the glass. One of my friends ordered the clams and mussels and it was served luke warm. They also didn't serve any grilled bread with it. She sent it back and then instead of giving her a fresh just cooked batch that was warm, they obviously microwaved it and it still wasn't very warm. Very Disappointing for the price. The restaurant is also in need of a little more sprucing up given the prices they charge. The noise level is also rather high. The highlight of the meal was the soup that was a butternut squash cocoanut milk soup that was excellent. But for the price and the seemingly lack of ambience, poor service and just ok entree, I would not return.
Sparky, Mike Ninos, food, cocktaila, locationawesome!!!
It was our 17 year wedding Anniversary. After getting 7pm reservations we were sat right on time. It took 20 minutes for the server to uncork our bottle of wine. We then ordered the cheese appetizer and ordered our meal at the same time. 1 hour later the server came back and told me the plate I had ordered was out and that I would have to order something else. Meanwhile, we still did not get our appetizer and our bottle of wine was out. About 1 hour later our meal came out and my wife's ravioli dinner was nothing more than what appeared to me pizza rolls. Awful! We were not the only ones waiting as the couple next to us had to wait 30 minutes to just get 2 drinks. A 3 hour meal is not what I expected.
Celebrated anniversary at V. It was a busy weekend and even the owner was helping out! Both the meal and service were excellent! Well worth the price!
Our first time at this restaurant and we were impressed! The food was very good, in addition to the menu they had a couple of specials. Our waitress was attentive but not intrusive. Good by the glass wine selections with reasonable pricing.
Unfortunately our latest visit to V Restaurant wasn't a good one. Our food took a long time to get out to us and when it did my filet was way over cooked almost charred and I ordered it medium and my mashed potatoes were cold and my carrots were underdone. My husband had the ribs and chicken and his ribs were warm but the chicken was cold and inedible. We were headed to a concert at ironstone and didn't have time for them to remake my food. We told them about our issues and they acknowledged and clearly saw my steak was way over done but said nothing about my husbands cold chicken, which also went uneaten .They credited me my filet but nothing on half my husbands meal. It was a disappointing meal to say the least and yet we still left paying over $50 with tip for one drink and a bad ribs and chicken meal.
I'd eaten outside at V-Bistro several times, and loved it. This time, my foodie friends from the coast picked it after looking online at other dining options in Murphys. The food, and the wine pairings, were top notch.
Tempura fried Shrimp, Calamari and with the Japanese peppers were such a pleasant surprise....loved the green goddess
VERY different Caesar with somewhat bitter greens....with much-needed salt and pepper, very good.
The best clams and mussels I have EVER had...only critique....a touch salty, and I am a fan of salt; broth was outstanding and no off-tasting mussels....so fresh!!
bread was excellent....forgot to ask if it was made in-house.
Pork chop over-cooked , husband liked the sauce, unremarkable Brussels Sprouts (and I LOVE them when they're creatively prepared), he loved the mashed potatoes....real missed opportunity with this dish!
Food was great, service was great, friendly staff. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone going thru Mariposa!
Great service from start to finish from bartender to wait staff. Quiet and quaint atmosphere in dining room. Broad variety from appetizers through dessert, and we experienced all to be yummy.
Our first visit to the V, and what a pleasant surprise! The menu is varied and very appealing.
When the food was served, none of us could believe the amount of serving? First time in my life that I couldn't finish the Mussels and Clams dish! It would appear that it is the chef's purpose to offer such amounts so as to require a take-home box? All in all, the V restaurant is one to which we will return during each visit to Murphys!
Food was delivered very slowly. Time from order to delivery was way too long. The wait staff were charming and efficient. The delay with the food arrival was obviously a kitchen/chef matter.
This was our second experience at "V." Our first was wonderful. This was disappointing. They had run out of the special (it was only 7:00 p.m.), limiting our options. The pasta dishes we ordered were cold and boring. The meat dishes were over cooked. I will not return.
Will begin with Christian, our waiter, was great. Unfortunately, the food wasn't. The lobster bisque was very salty and not one piece of lobster. It was sent back. The same bisque was used to cook the lobster risotto which was part of the fish of the day special, thus disappointing. However, the sole was cooked just right, as was the filet. When I ordered the caesar, I was informed they were out of white anchovies and parmeasan crisps. I ordered it anyway and it came with quite a bit of parm shavings which could have easily been turned into crisps so not sure what the deal was there. The dark chocolate mousse was not dark chocolate. It had a cream cheese taste to it with a hint of some flavor that again wasn't dark chocolate. It was very loud due to a table of 6 in a fairly small room of the restaurant. My martini was spot on. Overall, not enough good things to justify returning to V.
Very friendly attentive staff, food outstanding. Had the salmon with creamy jalapeno sauce. Lobster bisque. Bread was amazing.
The waiter was outstanding and the bread delicious. The Caesar salad was very bland and unappealing and the mussels were very small and The dish flavorless. The wine was great. The rooms are very noisy, maybe showing my age, but i like to be able to hear my companion without shouting.
It was so easy to set a reservation.
We were seated at the bar which got a little chaotic for my friend and I. But we were quickly moved upon request ito the dining room which had a fire in the fireplace! Super romantic.
Our options for drinks were fantastic! And we had one each.
The options for food bordered on the extravagant. And true enough, both our meals were delicious and with large portions enough to have for lunch the next day ☺️
The Service set a great standard for California friendly. We really enjoyed the staff, particularly our waitress, Wendy.
I can hardly wait for a rematch!
Have been here many times - excellent food, nice atmosphere and great service.
Unfortunately, this is not the V that it used to be! We had a horrible meal here! We made reservations on a normal Sat. night. We were seated in a table by the window but next to the bar. The server didn't come to take our order for 15 minutes. We got our appetizer and salad (served simultaneously, not individually) after maybe 25 minutes, but we still hadn't been served our wine. We finally asked the maitre'd what happened to the wine after we had been there for more than 30 minutes and had already finished both the appetizer and salads. We also didn't get any bread but noticed that other diners had it so we had to ask for that, too. The bar got so noisy that we couldn't hear each other, so we had to move to another room. The entree finally came after 45 minutes, but the food quality was mediocre at best. My fish was breaded and tasted more of bread than fish. The asparagus and peppers had been scorched char-black on a grill and tasted of gas (and carbon) -- we didn't eat them. We started talking about the restaurant with two other couples seated at tables on either side of us, and they both had similar complaints and said both the food and the service were terrible. All three couples said we would never be back. This used to be a delightful restaurant with great food, but you should avoid it today!
The place is very small. There were four open tables in the main room but they seated us in the bar. It was very noisy and our waiter could barely get around the table to give us water. At that point we requested to be moved to the other small room. The chairs were extra wide wooden seats with no cushions. They were very uncomfortable and we were eager to get up from them.
The waitress was very nice but she also was pretty cramped when serving. Food was good but a bit overpriced for what they had on the menu. The beet salad was delicious but I doubt I would go back in that cramped environment. Maybe an outside table if we were in the area.
We had a terrible experience. The service was very slow (didn't even take our order for 15 minutes), but we were relaxed, so we brushed it off. The first dish, salmon chowder, was good. The second, however, was inedible, and we had to send it back. It was supposedly shrimp scampi served over a bed of linguini, for $30. What we got was a bed of pasta mush, with recently defrosted shrimp, underripe sliced tomatoes, and cold feta cheese laid on top. It seemed like they had overcooked the pasta, or else cooked it hours before and left it in the water, then plopped it on the dish, rewarmed it, and put the other ingredients on top. Yuck. The waiter also served the Sancerre incorrectly, filling the glasses over halfway, so the wine got warm. We were by the door, which patrons kept leaving open as they left, on a chilly, windy night, and we had to get up to close it a couple of times. We were very disappointed.
Very nice atmosphere and great service. Food was very tasty!
Small, intimate dining room with beautiful fireplace. Very cozy. Nice variety of food on the menu. The beef tenderloin was well prepared, loaded with flavor and a hearty portion. The sole was also a generous portion but a little bland. Fun local wine list. The service was prompt but not overly fussy. Overall a very good experience.
Food was excellent as usual. A little slow, but it was not a problem
