Wedding Anniversary. Very very noisy and super busy in the main room. Luckily we were in the back garden where it was much quieter. Food was very good. Great Polenta with Ribiola cheese. Pasta with Pesto and ricotta and honey bruschetta.
Good service as well. Will definitely return.
Great atmosphere in back garden, wonderful food and great service!
Father’s Day dinner.m! Great atmosphere and service
Great food just very loud for brunch. Will definitely return for dinner and check that out
I have fond memories of Uva. However, I think other than ambience, everything else is down hill for Uva. Our food was really sub-par (perhaps I was borrowing too much from my previous 2 experiences at Uva). It is not a stretch to sweep Uva under the same category as Maggiano's or any other chain. The food from order to on table was just a few mins, with so much cheese that the other flavors were hard to come by. I'd recommend skipping Uva if you are interested in flavor first Italian food. Wine selection is still good. Oh and yes, for some reason everyone there is in hurry to rotate tables, it didn't used to be that way. Focus on customer experience has shifted to cycling through patrons as quickly as possible.
Had to wait a bit longer for our reservation, however, they supplied us with a free glass of wine to make up for it. The food was well worth the wait regardless of the free wine
The quality of the food is incredible
The food was delicious as always. My favorites are the polenta - just to DIE for - and the insalata Bianca. I have both every time we go, in addition to whatever else suits our fancy. We always sit in the garden out back because it’s so charming out there. But also because it’s WAY quieter. The inside room gets SUPER noisy.
Been multiple times as it is a local restaurant and I like the outdoor garden but the food is average and both my waitress which I have had more than once, as well as the tall male manager should not be in the service business. Neither are friendly nor smile and make it feel as though they are being inconvenienced. Most places try to make you feel welcomed but UVA does not.
Music was not fitting a quaint Italian atmosphere
Came for a late lunch st 4pm on a Sunday. As soon as we said we weren’t ordering any alcohol the waitress completely changed her tone. She was rude throughout, clearly prioritizing other tables over us and even completely forgot to bring a dessert menu after we asked.
Our late night dinner at UVA was excellent! We are new to the neighborhood and will absolutely be making Uva a regular late night hang out. The pasta was fresh and the portions were generous. The btg list fun and full of good options. Thank you! We will be back
Awful food, tastes like Olive Garden
They were recommended as a great brunch place with a nice patio. Arrived to find that the patio was completely booked for a private party. We had to sit in a dark, loud room near the main aisle so people with gigantic balloons parading in. Food was fair. Frittata dishes were huge but lifeless, just cooked eggs.Complete disappointment. They should have made us aware that their main draw was unavailable.
Wonderful food, great service and phenomenal value. We were so impressed that we have already recommended Uva to friends. Reservations are essential. Chocolate "salami" desert is particularly delicious. It is a bit noisy but not enough to prevent us from returning
Everything about our meal was fantastic and the service was even better!
UVA has great food and is a charming place, but the hostess is not accommodating and quite rude. Every time I make a reservation they are at least thirty minutes late to call us for our table and are not apologetic whatsoever and have an attitude Strange service otherwise would give uva a higher rating.
Perfect brunch. Good vibe, good food and good service. The honey coated cheese bruschetta was delish.
Sat outside and it was perfect weather and perfect food. The gnocchi is delicious.
Brunch food very bland
excellent neighborhood venue! would happily go back
Food and service was great! They have a great wine list and cheese selection. Try the gnocchi, they are extremely fluffy and airy! We went just by searching what was close to us at the time and were all very happy with the experience!
The restaurant staff was very efficient, timely and pleasant. On Tuesday night the restaurant was packet. We were in the back garden and there was no noise there (but noisy inside). The food is terrific.
Food was great. Service was fair. Particularly wait staff. Bar waitress was amazing. Manager seemed to looking for specie clientele, specifically no traditional Italian diners. Food was great but overall feel of the place was average.
Crowded tables. Slow service. Food mediocre. No ambiance.
The truffle gnocchi are actually the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. Enough said.
One of my favorite places in the city. When I lived on the Upper East, this was a staple for me.
Nice atmosphere. Romantic. Good food. Not outstanding but very good for the price. Service was just ok as they got busy. Overall good experience though.
Our visit started and ended in a less than stellar way. We were greeted grumpily by a manager, to the empty restaurant, and seated at a small side table. Shortly thereafter, two 'regulars' came in a got a table for four in a better location. After that shabby beginning, our waiter was magnificent. He took good care of us, in a sweet, professional and friendly way. The food was delicious: from the bread and olive oil, to the appetizers to the main courses to the wine... But suddenly, the place was packed with barely room to move and the acoustics made it difficult to hear my friend across our small table. We will return, but when we know it is not busy.
Everything’s delicious, but the Gnocchi Di Ricotta is to die for!!!!
We had a great experience at Uva! Waiter was very friendly and the food was delicious, authentic Italian. Only drawback was the brunch portions were a little small. But overall, would recommend and definitely return.
This was my third time at UVA and I loved it even more. The ambiance and character of the decor...utterly charming...this restaurant quietly sings in Italian in a vibrant New York neighborhood. The food from the appetizers to dessert were divine. The flavors are rich but not complicated or heavy. I had the veal meatballs as an appetizer and the gnocchi which were airy and flavorful. I had a lunch celebration and we were treated like royalty. Please make sure to dine in this gem in New York City. ♥️♥️♥️
Great for dinner, not so much for brunch.
Long wait although we had reservation; hostess wasn’t friendly but staff was great as per usual
We arrived with a reservation and found that the noise level would not let us have a conversation. We asked if it was possible to have a table at the terrace, which seemed considerably quieter. “No”, said the not too friendly captain of waiters who received us, “no tables available “. But when he saw that then we would decide not to stay, miraculously a table appeared in that section.
Food was ok - just ok - some not even ok. Nothing to write home about. The wine list was long but the two whites (different because the first one was not very good) that were recommended were again, barely passable. So a first bad impression was followed by several more.
When we left we found out that our umbrella was gone (they don’t have a wardrobe, so you leave your things at a place near the entrance). We told the captain about it and he just mumbled something like “ we’ll, it happens”. I said “there are other similar umbrellas here but we are not going to take any because they might be someone else’s”. He made no apologies, offered no repair. He only said “no, don’t take any other”. Not only that, but when we left I overheard him saying “they wanted to take someone else’s umbrella”.
We will never go back. First and last. Michelin says something like Uva being a cousin to Lusardi. Maybe third cousin twice removed. Absolutely no comparison to that venerable top quality classic. This is a joint, not even a good one at that.
Always love coming to Uva, it is one of our favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. The food was delicious, and we had a wonderful time!
The pastas were fresh and the sauces were amazing. Ordered the flatbread with truffle cheese. Wouldn't order it again but it was still good. Just came out like a sandwich and was a lot more bread than we thought it would be.
We had a terrific dinner at Uva, both with regard to the food and the service.
For appetizers, we had grilled shrimp in a savory sauce of roasted peppers, and an order of slightly sweetly fried bits of sliced artichoke that were delicious and something I've never before seen on a menu.
For main course, salmon in a mustard sauce, and veal cooked with an eggplant covering. Both superb.
I added roasted Brussel sprouts late in the game, and they arrived in 5 minutes! As for the salmon, I insisted on having it the way I like it -- quite rare, and after making that desire quite clear, the kitchen served it up in just the way good fish should be eaten. Finally, the restaurant serves "flights" of 3 white or 3 red wines (of different categories), only slightly more expensive than a single glass, so I ordered both of them, and loved tasting all these six wines with each of the food courses.
In addition to all this, our waitress, Donka, was a real ally, warmly taking our requests to negotiate with the kitchen, helping us choose the wines, and making us feel well cared for.
Only difficulty for us was the noise level. It was about normal for Saturday night places in the East part of the Upper East Side. We've learned to reserve an early time, so for the first part of the meal it was delightfully somewhat quiet. However, it clearly is a very popular place. By the end of our stay we left, very happy about the experience.
Loved the brunch! Definitely recommend to order the Strawberry Ricotta Pancakes, Rustica Frittata and the Sausage side. The Price-Fix is a good deal since it also includes a drink (~$10-13) but this is more of a chill place, versus a bottomless party experience. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because we asked to be seated in the back garden, and it was closed for a private event, and we ended up getting a small corner table that was not as ideal.
Fantastic food, great service
